  • Have done this many times in the past, but there are some unique "twists" for these 500 series saws with stuffers, and building a 575 is a perfect opportunity to cover some of those from first splitting the case ( a later video ) to the bearing replacement and re-aasembly

    Not to many old school ignition magneto's in use any more even fewer guy's around that know how to work on / rebuild them. After all these year's I still enjoy watching you do a bottom up build from scratch, it was some of your early video's that got me hooked on the hobby of building saw's that I always wanted to own but couldn't afford to buy from someone else if they were a running saw so..... Start collecting those saw's in bucket's and box's just a pile of junk to other's then when there's enough part's and pieces build one, it has been a great experience for me. My collection keep's growing it's getting a bit out of hand but having to much fun to quit lol! Thank you kindly Walt much respect to you for sharing so much of your time with us over the year's, take care.

    Some sorta magneto.
    It was common place on rope start mobile dimension sawmills.
    They have a air cooled VW engine that's heavily modified for industrial use.
    .
    That one definitely looks like a newer design.

    I have never had one of those saws but I hired a young man that had one. It did pretty good as far as I can remember. But it wasn't super powerful.

      I really don't have enough for my two projects, a 575 and 576. So prolly hang on to what I have.

      @@afleetcommand hi Walt, thanks for your reply my friend. I totally understand that but it was always worth asking you.
      It,s not easy to find these saws in Sweden, most run the 50cc saws with 13” bar and that’s cool but I like the bigger saws to get torque instead of just high rev saws.
      This is by far the best hobby in the world, the sawshop expands by the day, upgraded with Husqvarna CST and a Markusson triplematic grinder to my manual Oregon one, it’s much thank to you that I got into this sawshop business which is by far the best hobby of my life, and it’s pays itself.
      Would like to give you a big “thank you” for your channel and your vids 👏🏻

    Some kind of water or air pump?

      @afleetcommand  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In the back ground? Yep. Air compressor was on for a few seconds. :) No, hint, a 1950's Mercury MK58a magneto

      @@afleetcommand glad you told me that... It looked like an air divider valve for a big air brake trailer but I noticed it has a shaft

    A Mercury Marine Ignition Driver Assembly?

    • @afleetcommand
      @afleetcommand  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. From a 1950's era MK58a motor. I have the bones to put one together. Plan to do that on the other channel, HTSS Outboards Boats & Trains. I want to build TWO but only have enough for one right now. Have TWO 20 inch midsection/lower units and the are counter rotating. Rare as hens teeth.

      @@afleetcommand I grew up just north of Fond du Lac, WI on the shores of Lake Winnebago, which is the home of Mercury Marine. I remember my grandfather having those in his junk bin and asking what they were. He was a very patient man, which I surely tested.

    @afleetcommand how do I get you to work on my 562xp.

      I don't do much repair anymore. Kind of has to either end up at CNY Farm Supply or be a local with patience as I have too much boat, farm, tree work and logging on my plate to actually make any kind of commitments . And the saw "bench" time is spent on my hobby saws. What happens when you get old and have to retire.
