This was my 11th birthday and it was awesome to watch this game when it aired. Still remember Tyrone Wheatley just shredding the Huskies defense.

I'm wondering why UW didn't try to gain yards in smaller increments on that last drive. They had time for four plays--even more time when you consider that Michigan ran two before the gun. Of course, if one of those four passes is completed, they move the chains and we say good play.
Gary Moeller, the best coach Michigan lost. They do not seem to have settled since.

As an ND fan I remember this day well! ND vs #4 Texas A&M in the Cotton Bowl started the day for me. Then a great Rose Bowl matchup in its traditional evening time slot to lead into the Sugar Bowl/Title Game between 'Bama and Miami!
There were some other great NYD games! This is when the networks were willing to compete (Rose ABC vs Fiesta NBC, Sugar ABC vs Orange NBC) against each other for an audience.
@@tuowl0564 The Orange Bowl that year definitely got lost in the shuffle because it went up against the Sugar Bowl which featured the #1 and #2 matchup.

NBC was also in its second year airing Notre Dame's home games in 1992; this season's Cotton Bowl was the first appearance of ND in an NBC-aired bowl game after the network began airing its home games
