Winner of the 2006 GLAAD media award for outstanding journalism, "Andrew Goldstein" aired on ESPN's Sportscenter in May 2005, where Greg Garber called Goldstein the most accomplished male team-sport athlete in North America to be openly gay during his playing career. Goldstein was a 2-time All-American lacrosse goalie at Dartmouth College and went on to be the first openly gay man to be drafted into a professional sports league as he was picked up by the Boston Cannons of Major League Lacrosse and later played for the long Island Lizards. Dartmouth made their only appearance in the NCAA lacrosse tournament in 2003 in Syracuse's Carrier Dome where Goldstein made a save and ran the length of the field to score just before half time (see: • Dartmouth LAX goalie s... ). Garber calls this moment a turning point for the goalie and his team.
