Thank you very much for providing this information. I had a meeting with DPD arranged for next week. Suffice to say, I will not be proceeding with my application to commence working for them as a self-employed delivery driver.
I’m glad it was helpful to you. I received an email today , bearing in mind I left in January stating I owe them nearly £900 . They have given me 7 days to pay ! There are much better companies out there to work for and if you decide not to join them then , in my opinion, it is a very financially astute move !
I work 3 days a week as a class 1 driver,earning 2k after tax.doind 2 stops max per shift,fair enough the hours are 12-13 hours per day.glad I switched from van driving.
Different depot must be different. Most of our wave 1 drivers diamond rates get about 4-7k a month after expenses depending on how many days you work of course
That sounds a lot however what I would that say is that there are a few wave 1 drivers who have been there a while and have unbelievable routes with good earnings . Anyone new is generally left with a route with limited stops, lots of miles and wave 2 routes
As an odf you should be paying next to no tax. Use a business no just self emplyed. Why is the advert sayung 50- 60 k a year then that would be £2 per parcel £1250 per week ?
Not entirely sure what you are trying to say however most drivers with be self-employed and not a limited company. Either way you still have tax obligations over and above your tax allowance whether it’s through dividends or self-employed. The main issue with the model is when you are off work, the vehicle has broken down or it’s damaged and the ODF cannot work yet is still charged.
@@markpercival2362 51k is the projected revenue roughly 17k in expenses they take directly 13k mandatory if you lease a van from them variable costs 3k fuel and milage
This was as an ODF or franchise which means it was directly with DPD rather than an MRF. It would be tough to earn those numbers tbh. Problem is all the hidden costs and is dependant on your route. In summary after a year working with them I wouldn’t do it again. However each drivers experience is different so I wouldn’t put anyone off having a go.
I would go and see what they say and see if the figures they are quoting make sense to you and you can earn money. The major factor for me is anytime off you won’t be paid for yet you still pay for the van ! That’s a big negative and can cost you a lot over the year.
Hi, I was fortunate that I had the diamond stop rate . The problem is the additional costs that you face. They will charge you for everything they can and if the van is off the road for a while you are still paying for the van and not earning. The costs outlined are the true costs I faced , bearing in mind this was in January so may have improved ? I would certainly go to the meeting and see what the costs are and if they have improved. I would just go into it with your eyes open to how it works and the cost implications.
@reluctantcourier okay, many thanks for your openness, my friend, I'l deffiently go to the meeting. How are you paid ? Is it an hourly rate or a price per parcel delivered ?
I had to request it with the depot manager. I believe , this may be different per depot, that they were stopping the diamond rate. Hope you can get it..

What is diamond rate and how do you qualify for it
90 stops a day is weak not average. I worked for someone and made more than you. I was doing 140 average off peak and 200 stops during Christmas.
That all comes up to the area you doing just say you were lucky getting all these stops
False once numbers tally up the income non existent!
