    Why is murder, fraud, theft, etc. okay if a corporation does it, but if citizens do it the go to prison? Corporations don't make decisions, people do. Until there are personal consequences for the _people_ making malicious corporate decisions (i.e. real consequences), this will just continue to get worse.
    P.S. Corporate fines don't work, especially in an oligopoly as these costs are just passed on to consumers.

    • @MiraBoo
      @MiraBoo 5 วันที่ผ่านมา +44

      Fines are supposed to severely _hurt_ the corps and be a deterrent for bad behavior, but fines don’t do crap when they’re insignificant or easily passed onto customers. Instead, fines are the inconvenient costs of doing business. It's so messed up.

    • @frances4797
      @frances4797 5 วันที่ผ่านมา +25

      So if we all declare ourselves "corporations" and do the same thing to them that they've been doing to all of us for decades, there should be no consequences for us either 😔

      well young one, i recommend you take a deep and thorough look at eurocentric cultures recent history and distant history(less important than the recent but still completely relevant when examining the goals and tactics eurocentrics use to acquire and protect stolen wealth) because anyone expecting any kind of legitimate business practices from well off eurocentrics HAS TO BE completely unaware that those behaviors are literally the only thing thats ever been acceptable in our culture..

    • @saturationstation1446
      @saturationstation1446 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@frances4797 its easier than that. we just have to collectively reject any recognition of eurocentric wealth or governance as legitimate or something that should be tolerated. at that point all THEIR laws become null. because they were the only ones who ever had the capacity to influence those laws, making them be created with absolutely zero representation from the people they are enforced on.

      Don't forget the stockholders... Meeting their expectation for dividends is the very reason the board and executives cut every corner, cost, safeguard, legal obstacle, moral and ethical considerations, etc. Stock holders too should be held liable and do prison time for being accomplices and beneficiaries of what amounts to deception, fraud, endangerment, manslaughter and ultimately mass murder. The result of the studies was asbestos was removed from the product in the 1970's. That was the action (like removing lead from gas after the strong studies showing lead was everywhere because of leaded gas or the removal of freon because of its effect on the ozone layer). I don't recall anyone going after big oil for causing brain damage and lead poisoning in babies(worldwide) because of their leaded gas. That lead was a much more serious problem affecting many more people that didn't even use the product worldwide than some women misusing a product in an unapproved way getting a still rare cancer. Others trying to make that claim although sexual activity is a more likely culprit for that type of cancer. In fact, they should rule out HPV before allowing a woman with that cancer to proceed in filing a claim at all. Occam's razor

      $$$
      Unregulated capitalism places profits over all else, including people's lives.
      (for profit) Corporations are legally required to maximize profits.
      Information regarding negative impacts is quashed, disputed, misunderstood and campaigned against. (See lead additives, asbestos and tobacco).
      Our economy changed from production to consumption. If consumers don't spend, the country financially weakens. (See stimulus checks.) The more products on the market, the more potential sales.
      Our country opted to measure its 'strength and standing' by the economy of *the country*. Health, individual wealth and happiness are not considered metrics for comparison. Probably because we suck at those and denial of weakness is a national pasttime.
      The legislation "protecting" against corporate abuse is written by lobbyists and company representatives. Things are only illegal when the law says it illegal. It is resource intensive to have the laws applied and enforced against the companies that wrote them. Especially in front of judges corporate donations put in their positions.
      The EPA, Bureau of Land Management, FDA, OSHA and other agencies like Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the National Labor Board are consistently underfunded and understaffed. Their work gets shut down or outsourced to unqualified entities.
      "If there are no tests, the numbers don't increase/decrease" is becoming an acceptable stance both to and from the government.

    If they declare bankruptcy again everything J&J should be siezed and the company completely shuttered. Its time for bankruptcy to actually mean bankruptcy again and not be a get out of jail card for these companies. Past that, they already should've been shut down just for the section 3:00 to 3:43. That alone should be grounds to shutter a company.

    • @Brandon-rc9vp

      Bankruptcy laws were amended a few decades ago to remove protections from individuals declaring bankruptcy and reducing penalties for corps doing so, if you vote for politicians that are captured by corporate america (i.e. all of them with the exception of Bernie and maybe one or two others) you are responsible for this sht too.

      I mean bankruptcy has always been a way to help people and companies get their crap in order. It’s not meant to shut down a company and never has been. There is no ‘actually mean bankruptcy again’ when this is what it has always meant.
      That said abusing the bankruptcy court should mean losing the company. Period. There are several ways companies have abused it, almost every large company has abused it in some way. If a company isn’t going into bankruptcy court in good faith and it’s clearly evident they aren’t they should not benefit from it.

But because these executive misery goblins operate like a giant hive-mind where blame is equally distributed and everyone's similarly complicit, they see nothing wrong with what they're doing. It's not Dave from Finance doing bad stuff. It's the company. Always the company. It's like their very identities are subsumed into this faceless, amoral money generator and anything they do is fine because they do it in service to free market capitalism. "We have a fiduciary duty to our shareholders!" It's right up there with "Resistance is futile."

    This is sick….my infant daughter was being treated for an orthopedic problem at Shriners in Philadelphia in 1978- …. The nurses used baby powder. You could see the white dust in the air as they would shake the powder over a baby … all the babies were there without parents… I stayed with my daughter morning till bed time for months… I told them she was allergic to the powder….. so she never got the dust shower.

    As a retired UPS Union worker, It is crucial you organize and have a union if you want to have a good life and something waiting for you after giving much to your life to a corporation. You need representation and you can only get that from a Union. People need to be represented and have a fighting chance and not be let go if management doesn’t like you. Fair days work for a fair days pay. It will always be a numbers game. Each new Manager that fills a seat must out perform the previous one or they get demoted. It’s a terrible game at your expense. It’s really payed off having a Union on your side. The little bit of dues outweigh the benefits by far. Good Luck on Organizing. I’m so tired of people struggling 😢
