11:06 The biggest problem are silly looking short legs, mainly on mark IV. Mark VI does have a way better body proportion than other old marks (which looks kinda bad if they are mixed up). It's not really about hight.
I agree. it has everything to do with proportion. that being said a primaris shouldn't look freakishly huge next to a firstborn. they look like midgets.
Be interesting to poll and see how much of an age divide there is on preferred armor mark. I started on the original beakies and the look will always be what I think of for space marines, but they seem to be much less popular for folks who came in during or after 3rd edition when we got the first major new plastic release (which had a bit of a mix of parts for VI, VII and VIII suits IIRC, but mostly for VII). The Mk III and IV suits didn't get their plastics for ages. Can't stand the Primaris sculpts, neither the helmets nor the armor style work for me at all, but thankfully they'll never intrude into HH.
I know you shouldn't beat a dead horse, but for me Primaris Mark X will always be a foreign looking design in 40k. It looks too modern and streamlined, and there is no variety, cause there are no different marks to mix and match together. and there never will be, cause lore wise the primaris are taller. this is such a fatal blow to the model design possibilities, but so obviously good for selling more models. But more important, it doesn't fit the narrative. A once great imperium which is now under siege from all sides and from within fell into a state of decay and disrepair. And every scrap of usable tech is being maintained and valued, even if its barely working. Overall I like the quality and fidelity of the primaris models but I don't like the design. That's why I'm really thrilled about them updating horus heresy patterns. And hopefully this continues with mark 3 and 4, and maybe even giving mark 2 a go in the future. But sadly I assume Mark 7, my favourite won't ever get a rework.
Felt like a little bit of a sucker since I just bought this same set for $85 USD but now that I think about it, it was to support my local Warhammer store that I didn't even know existed and the guy running it was so nice and gave me a whole lesson on how to paint/build so honestly I think it was worth it.
Love all of the armor varients on offer in 40k (even Primaris!) but man mark VI is just so damn cool. Feel like it perfectly captures that mix of medieval knight with futuristic super soldier.
I don't used MKVI outside of my small Raven Guard force so the AoD box was mostly stuff I don't want or need. IMO MKIII is the best and you actually have the option of easily replacing the legs of the older kits with taller 3d printed ones if the height bothers you.
Sorry if I missed it, but this this come with a special weapons sprue like plasma & melta? The description of the Mark 3 confirms this. I know these weapons aren’t Horus Heresy official, but was just curious if it came in MK6. Great video and your pace and narration were the best version of this review I have found.
will you be checking out the Tortuga Bay Studios marks of marines? They look to be the best version of "true scale" firstborn available. Great channel, it is the go to channel for checking out the models and size comparisons :)
I love the MK VI but prefer MK VII to X that being said I still have all my Rogue Trader beekies so yes I am going to get a couple of boxes or just the huge boxed set to help finish off my Crimson Fist army. Sup thanks for the review bud always great content.
While this kit is a huge step forward in terms of scaling, posing, detail etc, I think the design choice to give every single marine the exact same chest and leg armour with zero variation feels a bit lazy and uninspired imo. I also don’t understand why they didn’t make the torso’s modular so we could at least kit bash them.
@@SmellyferretX GW has been trending toward less and less real customization options for years now, and I think we can agree that's not a good thing. There are still some exceptions now and then but we've been getting far too many figs that really only go together one way with maybe two-three arm/weapon variants. The character figs might be the very worst of that - I might be willing to pay $35 for a hero that came with a whole slew of wargear options and multiple heads, etc. but instead it's one tiny frame with at most three weapon mixes and often no options at all.
@@richmcgee434 agree! I think this is worse than a single figure too... 4 out 5 are basically in the same 2 handed pose. Customisation is hard as the hands are part of the weapons... quite a let down
I full in love with this new MK VI, and now I want to use theme in 40K. ¿How can thet be used there?. I hope 10th Edition don´t eliminate First Born Marines. ¿What do you think?. Thanks!
Sorry Mr Saiyan, but these new mini's absolutely are bigger. They may not be taller, sure. But they have a totally different proportion than anything that has come before. The fact that the sleek and stealthy MkVI is bigger and chunkier than the industrialised, up armoured MkIII should be all you need to see in order to confirm this. I wouldn't be so bad if the legs and torso weren't an 'order of magnitude' bigger...
i don't like mkvi it doesn't fit with anything in the heresy it looks so out of place with the upgrades because none of the upgrades have any sense of mkvi it's all mk2 to 5 none of 6
That “Hellooo and welcome 😊” Never gets old

I fucking hate the new proportions. Looks totally wack imo.

Every time I watch this video or look at the box art it gives me hope that a large scale Forgeworld Warmaster might be coming.

Beakys fit the sneaky chapter like Raven Guard and Alpha Legion. Maybe Night Lords too?

Its really annoying that most of the hand/weapon options are 2 handed.
Its like they went for the RT01 feel (beakies) but missed the sheer amount of customisation that RT01 had and that was part of its success.

Mark 3

I'd field them as tactical marines/sterngaurd or Devastators
Is there a size comparison with some of the modern marines? Like the chaos or primaris?
Yes there is
