Found your channel when searching for Upwork proposals, and found your proposal written by ChatGPT video. What a great channel! Thank you for sharing your challenge and journey on Upwork as a Video editor. I've been on Upwork for more than a year and got one long-term contract as a Marketing Assistant (7+ months) that is coming to an end, so I'm going back to the proposal game haha. Thank you for your videos and keep it up with your great content!

    You aren't charging enough.
I found this video because you responded to one of my postings.
I think your pricing works against you in two ways.
A: It attracts the "budget friendly" clients, who are generally more demanding, less organized, and won't properly value your work.
B: It scares away the "Big Ticket" clients, because they will assume that the cheaper price range means the quality of the edits are poor.
To wrap it up, there is no benefit to being the cheapest, or the second cheapest on the market. If I were you, I'd spend a week just putting together a truly mind blowing portfolio, and then either doubling or tripling your prices. This will allow you to spend more time on less clients, so you can do better work, and then add to your portfolio.

      Thanks, Liam!
I also noticed that the low payest clients are the most demanding.
I planned to build some reputation and then increase the prices to 30+.
Thanks for your advice. Probably, I should change my strategy already

Hi, which is the best one? Upwork, fiverr or freelancer? I also am trying to start online work. I hope your videos are gonna help!

I have accounts on all of them, but I work only on Upwork for now.
There are plenty of clients on each, but the average clients spend higher multiple times on Upwork.

Can you please share your upwork profile link.

I don't want to post the direct link. If you are really interested, it would take you 3-4 minutes to find my profile inside the platform.

My Strategy has been a bit different than yours even though we roughly started at the same time. I also think industry matters, I'm in the web dev and developer categories, and the money seems to be flowing fairly well there. I've made $1600 so far from 2 jobs. I just got a third one, my first hourly gig for $30 per hour. I've consequently tried to avoid the lowest paying clients and trying to find very specific clients that need something I've already done or something that I know I can smash in terms of quality. I've also consequently used loom to create my proposals in an effort to stand out. I think my profile can do with a lot of work in terms of profile description. So far my stats have been: 20 proposals (probably a bit higher, but I can't see all of my history for some reason), 4 interviews, and hired 3 times. The sample size is too low to draw any conclusions, although it does seem that once I get them to actually engage them with my proposal, my selling and marketing skills are doing ok for me so far. The main factor for not making more money for me I think is A) No JSS because of too few jobs, B) I've taken on fairly demanding projects or projects that had a short turnaround time, therefore I've only been able to do 1 at a time. I think the key to make a ton of money is to get to a point where people just have you on retainer and pay you a monthly fee for your availability. Going on a project per project basis is not sustainable unless you land 5k+ projects or can get projects where the client is okay with it taking longer because you have multiple clients (which is hard to find at least among the low paying clients, they tend to demand quite a bit).
Other than that I think client selection is key, to make sure you always get glowing reviews, or at least not get slaughtered and get set back a ton.
I'm looking forward to follow along and compare our journeys. Here's to another successful 100 days! :)

Hey Alexander! Thanks for sharing your experience. Yeah, JSS and feedback can be a game changer for us.
Absolutely agree that it's vital to find long-term projects!
I am glad to share this journey with you!
