The Xbox Series S is an awesome and powerful machine, especially for the price. It's a true "Next-Gen" gaming system for under $300 🔥
The Xbox Series S is ALL DIGITAL. Which means you don't need to use game discs anymore, or worry about them breaking, getting scratched, or piling up.
Instead, you get games the same way you get movies or TV shows, like on Amazon Prime Video, TH-cam TV, Apple TV, etc... You simply buy them in the Microsoft/Xbox Store and download.
You can buy games directly from the Xbox unit, or from a browser on your Computer or Phone. And don't worry about high prices! You'll find new amazing game deals every week, and I mean real deals, like $5, $10, and $20 deals all the time 🔥 It's often LESS than you would spend on used game discs at a place like GameStop.

I haven’t played any video games on a console since my daughter got a Nintendo Wii when it first came out. Beyond that I played the original Nintendo way, way back.
I do play a few racing games on my iPad. One racing game in particular I saw on TH-cam was something I liked. I asked my son in law about it & he said it was on Xbox & I left it there cause I couldn’t play it on my iPad. Unbeknownst to me my wife secretly got w him & if daughter & they found a good deal & now I guess I’m a “gamer”. lol in a very loose sense of the name.

you can be a gamer at any age 🎮 its not like the old days where most games were made for kids. Most games are for adults these days. If you are looking for more xbox centric content, I have a new channel that only covers gaming th-cam.com/channels/cYumVdvv7Z5Hy_aJVLCK7g.html Besides gameplay videos, you'll find some cool stuff like How to Connect Alexa to your Xbox, or how to replace thumbsticks on a controller etc...
Since you've been out of the gaming world for awhile, if you're in to story driven games I highly recommend the Yakazu series. Those are probably my favorite games of all time. 1 thru 6 are in Japanese with English subtitles, but 7 (Like a Dragon) has English voice tracks, and so do the Judgment series (which are the same type of game). If you are not use to it, the Japanese voice tracks and English sub titles can be a bit much for a new gamer, but once you get into it....they are the most rewarding games to play with the best storylines. And if you get Game Pass, you will have access to all the Yakuza games.
As far as racing games, there are a ton. Of course the big one is Forza Horizon 5, which you can play for free if you have Game Pass.
Another game I highly recommend, especially for folks who have been out of the gaming world for awhile is CONTROL. It's an amazing game, full of action, and a very well done story. And of course there is all of the Halo's, which are also on Game Pass.
Another game to look out for is called STARFIELD. It will be released on Sept. 5, and promises to be one of the most EPIC games of all time. There are also free games like Fortnite on Xbox.
So whatever you are into, there will be plenty of games to relax and unwind with on Xbox.

@@pcj60 Yes. No other difference. If you already have a Series S (white) or buy a Series S (white) for cheap, and you want more storage - just get the 1TB Storage Expansion Card and you will have 1.5TB storage vs 1TB for the black.

I’m getting one of these again soon, I have a question can I use a external hard drive and play Xbox one, 360, etc games on it? I know series X/S games don’t play on external hard drives but do the ones I mentioned play off the hard drive? And can it just be any regular external hard drive or does it have to be a special Xbox compatible one

You CAN use an external SSD to play older games. You CANT play X|S games directly from an external SSD, though you CAN store the games so you dont have to re-download them. If you want to go the external SSD route it MUST be a USB3.1 drive or higher. The ones I like are the Samsung T7 Shield drives amzn.to/3PGeQMo (amazon affiliate link) I have tested those and they do work. But they make other HDDs and SSDs that will work too like this amzn.to/3r4YJ1n but that one is a HDD so it may be slightly slower than an SSD. When you connect the SSD or HDD to the Xbox, you will be guided through your options. Its pretty easy. I'll have a full video on it over at @SQ3X in the next week or so.

If you want to play directly on your laptop you can connect an Xbox controller via Bluetooth or adapter or USB and use the Xbox app. If you have Game Pass PC or Ultimate you can download games or play with cloud just like on Xbox.

If you are a new gamer and want the lowest price for the best options then Xbox series s + game pass is the best option (if you are really not a fan of a game and want just to have fun)

The black 1TB version won't be out until September, and it's going to be about $100 more than the white version. A casual gamer will be fine with 512GB. You can always add the Expansion Card if you really need it, or just add a normal SSD for non-XS optimized games.
