I would kindly like to give some feedback. In this video there was not much emphasis given to the "precentage_laid_off". However, I find this to be statistically important data. This is a proportion and gives a probability. For example, if you were to query "SELECT stage, ROUND(AVG(percentage_laid_off),2) FROM layoffs_staging2 GROUP BY stage ORDER BY 2 DESC;" you would find the proportion of layoffs per company as opposed to just finding the companies that got rid of the most people. The argument here is that a large company with a layoff proportion of 0.05 could still show more people being laid off, then a smaller company with a layoff proportion of 0.7, even though this gives valuable insight that the past 3 years have hit small companies very hard. Thought I would mention this and open it up to any discussion.
Great insight... I agree with you the percentage_laid_off in comparison with stage can extract further analysis to explore wether the difference was indeed significant. Nice catch there🫡
A big Thank Alex from Sudan . I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude for the incredible content you create on your TH-cam channel. Your videos have been a source of inspiration, education, and entertainment for me, and I truly appreciate the effort you put into each one
Just finished the Data Cleaning project, using MS SQL Server Studio Management. Was definitely some interesting hurdles to work past and really gave me some deeper understanding of MS SQL Server syntax. Forced me to learn deeper into the MS SQL program and its capabilities. The vids so far have been a good guide, that still allowed me lots of room to have to troubleshoot and come up with ideas on my own to combat the slight differences in programs. But super rewarding! Keen to get into the EDA!
I've just finished this tutorial about sql. As i said in the last videosn i've only one problem and it is not about Alex or the course but just about me cauz i'm a french guy so i learn all of these courses with substitles so it's so long but at the end i'm so proud and i want tot give a big thanks to ALEX. . Next stop --> excel. Ps: i write this comment without translator ^^^^
Since this is an extension of the previous video, would you consider making a tableau video based on this data? Thank you so much for everything that you do! ♥
Great content! I am hooked with this series. Hey Alex, you can calculate the Total Employees, total_laid_off divided by percentage_laid_off. Keep the good content.
Hi Alex! As someone already said, a follow-through on Tableau would be amazing! Also how, based on this, how to import it to Tableau (and how to choose between the queries etc..)! Thx, great work
everything went perfectly, however i could not alter the date, even though i saw the previous data cleaning video, i checked all the settings still date not updating
thanks alex, great video as always! I've been wondering, could you or anyone else give me question to continue to work on this data ! I would love to try it to solve myself a solution to this data.
Hello Alex! Thank you so much for your effort making all this free courses. But there's something I still don't understand, it is when or what condition you should make another CTE? Like on last section about Company Year Ranking, is the CTE really needed there? Because I still don't understand the condition to put more CTE over CTE hahaha. Thankyou so much!!
Hi Alex I've been through the SQL portion of this "Boot Camp", I've written my own query but for the life of me I cant get it to round the values. I've tried ROUND in various places, writing it as a WITH but just dosen't seem to work for me. I've written the code below any help would be great. Also apologies if this is in completely the wrong place. SELECT company, total_laid_off, percentage_laid_off, total_laid_off * (1 / percentage_laid_off) AS total_employees, `date` FROM layoffs_staging2 WHERE total_laid_off IS NOT NULL AND percentage_laid_off IS NOT NULL ORDER BY total_employees DESC;
Hi Alex, would please make the extension of this video how upload SQL queries in Power BI and make visualize the data in Power BI. It will be very helpful to know how we important SQL queries in Power BI and use it for Data visualization. In other words how would we use this project in Power Bi for visualization.
Alex, what is the reason for you to always use backticks (`) when selecting/updating anything related to date? I'm sure you mentioned this before but I can't remember anymore.
i think its because the DATE is suppose to be a reserved word, but since a column is named that the backticks instructs MySql the date is a column and not the reserved word
Hello Alex, great video, I've learnt alot from you in the past year. The problem i experience with CTEs is they dont seem to be recognized by my ssms, what seems to be the issue
Hey Alex, thank you for the info! I would like to talk to you about the data analyst boot camp. I saw that you removed the SQL videos that were in the boot camp series and replaced them with MySQL. For the past several weeks, I have been trying to work on the boot camp because I want to get your certification, and hiccups were trying to work on SQL because I was getting errors when I was trying to work on the SQL projects. Now, I am about to work and complete the SQL data cleaning project which was in the bootcamp series and the last thing to do for the SQL series, but I saw again that the SQL videos were gone. My question is can I still get the certification although you replaced the SQL videos with MySQL? By the way, I do not have MySQL. Thank you and God Bless!
Hi Alex, Thank you for the video. Each time I try using the table Import Wizard, only about 500 rows of the data are imported. I have tried this multiple times with no difference. Please how can I resolve this?
Hi @AlexTheAnalyst, truly appreciate your work is it a good idea to combine this and data cleaning project and show it as a single project in portfolio? awaiting your reply thanks
I'm currently enrolled in a business analytics diploma in a university, I want to know which of the skills used in data analytics can be carried over to business analytics field I love your content and would love to use it to learn stuff that can help me in my field.
Hello Alex, have really enjoyed watching your videos. Very detailed and well explanatory. Do you have anything on project management please? Or can you point me to one. I am struggling to find a great TH-cam video on project mgt (bootcamps & certification) like yours. Thanks.
Sir I follow along with you at your sql studio project but when I import data so there was a lot of null values if you remember Covid 19 project so can you please make a video dedicated about sql management studio problems solving
Hey Alex. I am currently in the bootcamp playlist and i just finished the OLD SQL videos a few days ago. But now i see you replaced the old SQL videos with MySQL. Which is better or what is the difference between the two? should i relearn the mySQL videos?
Hey I just updated it as people who were on Macs couldn't follow along. If you're already on the MSSQL ones that one is great! I would stick with it - the playlists are still on my channel just not in the bootcamp any more

This pops up on my feed, and I figure what better way to start off my Tuesday by practicing some SQL! Thanks Alex!

It'd be nice for sure. Nice 1st full project in his boot camp.

This is so great Alex. You just saved me a ton of SQL pain

Awesome video. Next up is visualizing the data 🙌
You are am amazing teacher thank you I am having such a fun time
thank you so much, this last query was challenging, but you are such a good teacher, thank you again
everything went perfectly, however i could not alter the date, even though i saw the previous data cleaning video, i checked all the settings still date not updating
Hey Alex , can you make a video about the function ‘first value’ ? Including the combination of case when… will help a lot
Very helpful with the rolling total way of doing it. It was a bit more complicated my way. Thanks
THANK YOU MR ALEX, YOU ARE A BLESSING
exactly what I was looking for thank you SO SO MUCH
Hello Alex, should we add the laid off mysql project to our portfolio or should we create our own?
Awesome information Alex! thank you for sharing. Question, should the query be named running total and not rolling total at 18:37?
thanks alex, great video as always! I've been wondering, could you or anyone else give me question to continue to work on this data ! I would love to try it to solve myself a solution to this data.
Can anyone tell me how to include this project in resume, I mean what to write in those 3-4 bulletin points.?
Thank God! Thank Alex!
That last query.. PHEWWW
can we use this in our portfolio or is there another way of creating one ourself

ORDER BY total_employees DESC;
No problem I worked it out
In date column can we replace the null as unknow date
A big thank you Alex. ♥
Doesn't (total_laid_off/percentage_laid_off) give the number of employees?
Hi
Please how can I import the downloaded file from GitHub to MySQL?
I thought I would add previous project and this one to github and linkedin. Should I add them two projects or add as the single project ?
Sir, could you please create a project on how to handle outliers in MySQL?
great would like to know too.

check the playlists on his channel! Apparently just not on the bootcamp. Got this info from a comment below.
@@SomeStatus Hey thanks, so either SQL or MySQL should be good to get the certificate along with the other skills to learn?
@anuboluwaji635 oh geeze I now realize that's what you were asking not where the videos had gone 😭. That's a question for @alextheanalyst sorry.

Hey Alex 👋 is it okay if I can skip excel to tableau, if I can’t afford it?

Hey Alex, I would like to ask, do you think this SQL project (data cleaning and EDA) is suitable to put in resume? I hope you can answer this, thanks!
Hello Alex, have really enjoyed watching your videos. Very detailed and well explanatory.
Do you have anything on project management please? Or can you point me to one. I am struggling to find a great TH-cam video on project mgt (bootcamps & certification) like yours. Thanks.
I'm getting exactly the double of the values as Alex gets. What will be the reason?
Same here. Can somebody help?
need to add how to export data, like specifics table to anywhere else for visualisation
I attempted to do the Rolling_total using a window function but it doesn't seem to work. Is there any benefit to using CTE vs. window function?
CTE works like temp table and windows function is similar like aggregation func. paste your code here maybe i can help

Really Amazing videos
Will it be good to use this project in my resume
It was great ❤
Hey alex bro u r great

@@AlexTheAnalyst Sir are these SQL videos in this playlist enough to learn everything about SQL for data analytics?
I need someone to explain to me what exploratory data analysis means🙇🏽♀️
When writing a project I find it difficult to know what to write in the exploratory data analysis section.🙏🙏
```
select *
from layoffs_staging2
where total_laid_off IS NULL
and percentage_laid_off IS NULL;
```
this query returned nothing from the project video.
Hence this query, returns null
```select MAX(total_laid_off) , MAX(percentage_laid_off)
from layoffs_staging2 ; ```
can anyone help ?
The problem is that percentage _laid_off is saved as nvarchar. You need to convert it float before you can calculate anything on it.
mine is not returning null. maybe you mean OR instead of AND
I want to learn Business analytics and data analytics . Please i need contact on hands on training.
Thank you!
