    Damn for a video over 13 years old the sound quality is really good 👍🏽. Better than more recent videos from this scene.

    Bear did the music for BSG and Terminator The Sarah Conner Chronicles. You can hear some overlap from these two shows. Similar yet just enough distinct but recognizable enough to make the connection. Bear was a busy guy as he did the music for Black Sails a few years later. The shipyard attack, when watched on BSGB&C was outstanding. Didn't take the Cylons long to decimate the fleet. Jumping in and out launching missiles all the while.

      It appears to have the same Armor Plating distribution as Galactica. (It is after all a re-use of Galactica's CGI Model). We see another destroyed Jupiter Battlestar in orbit of Caprica when Boomer and Helo's Raptor drift towards Caprica as it's being nuked repeatedly.

    There berzerk carrier near the Pegasus unfortunately the cylons broke the Armistice and wiped out the colonies and the last remaining Battlestars were the battlestar galactica Jupiter class and battlestar Pegasus mercury class those cylons knew what they were doing everything we did in deadlock was all for nothing.

      I built several hundred Berzerk Carriers by mission 5. While cheap and expendable. A pack of these Escorts can take on the largest of the Cylon Basestars.

      The Cylons wouldn't have needed to break any Armistice without what we did in Deadlock - they would have wiped out the colonies in the first war. And who knows how the survivors would have done in that case - maybe better, maybe worse. The TV show would have been a lot different, though.

    Even during “peacetime” with the ability to jump into weapons range why no point defense weapons? Why no standing CAP? Why no ability to launch a rapid reaction force?

    • @artbrann
      @artbrann 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      short answer - ego
      the Colonials couldn't jump that far, without the use of the decommissioned IDRIS network (see BSG Deadlock, which is canon), so with their egos they thought the toasters couldn't do it either even tho they were known to be sentient computers
      so with their belief that it would take several jumps to make it from Cylon controlled space to anything vital, they would have time to prepare
      but at the same point, the Colonials knew it was possible, as Adama ordered Gaeta to plot a jump beyond the red line to Ragnar Anchorage(Daidalos), and despite protests he managed it with paper and a slide rule

    • @MrCoolguy425
      @MrCoolguy425 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Better reasoning would be as follows: this was a simultaneous attack along all 12 colonies alongside multiple major military targets against a heavily disadvantaged enemy. Practically every ship in the colonial fleet could be disabled immediately upon entering into weapons range and prevented from even firing back. And while they are switching from computerized to manual systems, the nukes are already up your ass.
      This was an unprecedented attack by an enemy not even heard from for years, everyone thought that they were gone, and anyone who didn’t were crying wolf.
      This has historical precedence as well, world war 2 being the best example. This would be comparable to the Japanese arriving undetected and hitting every shoreline city and shipyard along the US Coast within a few hours of each other, with the capability to ground every single aircraft in the US with the click of a button, alongside being able to disable any military vessel before they even fire a shot.
      The fact that the cylons even had the capability to do this, let alone get a virus that can disable the entire fleet network (without some tech nerd from any of the billions of people in the colonial fleet noticing) is astonishing and I would say plot armor levels of stupid. I mean think about it, multiple identical clones hiding amongst human without any colonial database figuring it out? A military software update that has a back door capable of disabling every shipboard system? Who the hell designed a computer system that had every networked computer controlled by the same software?
      The stars both literally and figuratively aligned for the cylons for years on end, and you wonder why the colonials got destroyed? There’s no way they couldn’t have in this situation lol

      @@MrCoolguy425 all true, on the other hand its still a universe where your enemy can litteraly appear in front of you with no warning and there is (seemingly) nothing you can really do about it.
      Even without the virus a major cylon attack would have still been devastating as they can strike on all front instantly against an enemy with very low readiness, I dont even think the virus was necessary as a plot device.

    • @wombat-ut4hl
      @wombat-ut4hl ปีที่แล้ว

      @@louisazraels7072 Why weren't we more prepared for 9/11?
      It would be easy to say, for instance, "every large city should have at least a pair of armed fighter jets in the air at all times just in case."
      In reality, we had virtually no fighter jets that could reach the hijacked planes in time. The only two we did have, had no ammunition. The pilots quickly developed a plan to ram the jet, one near the tail, the other at the cockpit. They hoped to eject. It was not necessary. This is the "let's roll" jet, in which the passengers broke into the cockpit and crashed the plane in Pennsylvania. Sidenote, I think this scenario (including the fact that the pilots would be killing the passengers) was a key inspiration for the Olympic Carrier plotline.
      And maybe a more direct comparison, how did the Japanese bomb our fleet at Pearl Harbor with so little warning or resistance?
      Humans have blind spots, and make mistakes.

      @@wombat-ut4hl oh for sure, but its exacerbated by instant FTL.
      I dont think the virus was even necessary, as soon as they develloped FTL drive with enough range to surprise the colonies they probably had enough of an advantage , how do you even defend when the enemy can instantly transport the entirety of its forces anywhere without prior warning? Any side with a little bit of intel would win by first strike

    How come that these Battlestars got destroyed by a few nukes while Galactica remained intact during the Cylon Colony attack where it got bombarded by nukes?

    • @thesamshk
      @thesamshk 6 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      SlightlySaturated Galactica didn't get bombarded by nukes in the last battles as far as I know. Galactica only got hit by 1 nuke

    • @mikefischer8576
      @mikefischer8576 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Its also know that some nukes were flown inside and dropped. Also galactica was an old ship designed to slug it out. Remember the ships of the secound cyclon war era were more missile and carrier based vs gun fighters. Think the difference between an f6f wildcat and f4 phantom.

    • @Thatslifebro_
      @Thatslifebro_ 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Galactica only got hit by one nuke in the pilot, they weren´t nuked during the colony attack but bombarded by standard kinetic batteries. The Cylons did not want to use nukes since they would have severely damaged their own colony due to proximity.
      Beeing in a shipyard is the most vulnerable position a vessel can be in, just look at pearl harbor. Who knows what refits these ships underwent, if their armor plating was replaced with an improved version then they might have literal holes in it. Most colonial ships were of Valkerie class and while they were very capable and modern they were a departure from the Jupiter and Mercurys Tanky approach to warfare and relied more on pack tactics and maneuverability. If you look at pictures of Valkeries you will see their underbelly is thinly armore, so much so that you can actually see where the reactor is. A nuke hitting that reactor would certainly kill the ship and with the amount the cylons dropped during this that would not be hard. Then there is the fact that most of those ships crews were on shore leave so no one exept pegasus could even attempt to run. And lastly: The Cylon backdoor probably neutralized all those vessels anyways. The cylons picked a very tempting and easy target for a surprise hit.
