To answer the question - I’m a motion designer and sometimes storyboard artist 4 days a week and an illustrator 1 day a week plus evenings and weekends. Worked in creative and advertising industries for 30 years so far. Great video 😊
wow 30 years, that endurance is admirable! I find storyboarding and motion design so interesting as I see some TH-camrs incorporate that in their content creation process. Thanks for sharing.
I am an oil painter (Leanne Moss Art) who travels for 20+ fine art festivals across the country. Your videos helped me learn how to do my own high-quality prints and greeting cards at home, what printer to look for, and what paper cutter! I love that you’re doing more videos. I am a corporate risk manager for a transportation company by day and hoping to pivot to art full-time very soon, so I appreciate all of your insight and advice.
wow 20 shows that’s very ambitious on top of a corporate job! at the same time it provides stability for you to take more creative risks? I’m glad my videos have been helpful!
Thank you for your excellent videos! I appreciate how authentic you are & that you address the realities and don’t sugar coat the challenges. I’m a painter, living in NW Tampa Bay, working in oil or watercolor & learning acrylic. Focusing on how to run the business side of my practice better.
@ they are so different, almost opposites. Overall oils, something about all of it, from stretching canvas, to priming, the whole thing is like a ritual that prepares you to start the adventure. The things I love about watercolors, more spontaneous, have to be more present & I love the unexpected that happens. If I can let it go, something better happens.
Hi Cathy! I am so grateful to you for putting yourself out there. I have watched your videos for years and you were the one that gave me ideas on how to make my art sellable. I am also in my 40s and after helping so many friends and family chase their dreams and raising and homeschooling my son, I'm starting to focus on my art business again. My husband and I have had a flooring business for the last 20 years, but I haven't been actively working there since our son has special needs and I was homeschooling him. I also feel like an older one trying to make art and start and grow a youtube channel, but when I see girls my age kicking butt it is an inspiration to me to keep going! I have seen the trend of a few of us in our 40s turning back to what their passion is. Thank you for everything you do girl!!
I can't heart this comment enough! I agree a lot of us are starting our second or third creative chapter in life in our 30s/40s and beyondI Making TH-cam videos, let alone making partial living from it, is such a foreign concept to us older millennials (at least for me) but once we lean into the fear, it can be quite enjoyable. I've started watching more videos by older youtubers just to train TH-cam algorithm to recommend more and I love that there's enough room here for everyone of all ages/professions.
I’m an animation student, I’m hoping to be working in 3D animation in the next 3 years but I’m also interested in doing illustration on the side. I’m working hard to improve my art skills right now and exploring how I could profit off my art in the near future. Thank you for the informative video, you’ve given me quite a bit to consider. 👍
Husband, Dad of 2, Author, illustrator who does books, freelance, merch, school visits, consulting, and the occasional mural. From teens to mid 30s always worked for schools, small biz, etc. Been doing it full time solo since 2014. I've found your channel and content very helpful and affirming!
Hi there! I just found your channel. Thank you for your thoughtful approach. I am a nurse who has mostly put creativity on the back burner for 20 years. Now I’m looking for ways to make it my “main course”, and your video was very helpful. You’ve got a new subscriber🙂
Hey, I'm a mixed media illustrator working in editorial, children's publishing and illustrated maps. I really enjoy your channel, your videos feel authentic and straight to the point. Looking forward to seeing what you'll do next :)
Hi, in relation to my art, I went to college in my 30’s as a single mom of 3. It was a safe place to live on campus in family dorms. I found art trying it out as an elective and fell in love with high fire kiln and pottery. I did get a degree and taught high school art for four years. All of this was to help me and my family get out of town due 7 state prisons in our county. Art showed me my inner life and this was not something I wanted to sell so I have been on a journey of learning and healing. My career of choice is Substance Abuse Counselor helping parole and probationers exiting prison re-establishing into the community. I am just now picking up art again. Not pottery but drawing and painting. I feel like I’m a newbe. I am starting a TH-cam channel to talk with women who have childhood trauma and I want to do art along side these talks. My trouble is, I’m tired on the weekends after working long hours and being 59 now, so here I am watching your video among many others. I have my studio set up for moving forward and hope for the best.
thanks for sharing your story-very inspiring! and agree monetizing our art isn’t right for everyone. Have fun with your youtube videos; having a dedicated space to record without having to set up every time makes the world of difference!
Thanks! And yes, absolutely, sales have been way slower than the same time last year. Might be the looming election, or maybe just because a ton of people are having a harder time financially. Hopeful for next year 🤞
I’m a podiatrist but minored in art in college. . Briefly had an art biz but stepping away from it for a few years to focus on other things . -haven’t painted in a year 😢. I miss it .
I recently took an unintended 6mon break from painting 😢 and finally got back to it. the longer it’s been the harder it is to start, but it never fails to show me how good it feels to create! Hope you find time and space to paint again.
You helped me just now Know that I am not interested in art income streams. I have avoided showing up on youtube but I am closer now in overcoming the fear. Thanks so much
I am a Dental assistant with an entrepreneurial spirit. However my imposter syndrome prevents me from taking any real action. Now in my 30’s I just want to do anything I can tolerate as I still haven’t found “my thing” . I have also been wanting to start a TH-cam channel for nearly a decade now and I think about the traction I would have gained by now if I did start any time ago. I do enjoy your sincerity in videos and maybe one day I can take the leap.
@@EasySundayClub I focus on wholesale using Faire, but they don't drive any traffic to my page. I spend a couple of hours every day finding business emails and cold email them. How do you find wholesale business? I'm going to try harder this year to get a social media following, I'm going to invest in social media campaigns, organic traffic feels impossible. I've noticed with Etsy ads sometimes I'll have a 100% conversation rate. I just need to get why work in front of people!

Great video. I am a nurse started coloring few years ago and i work with all kinds of mediums from digital to traditional. I started selling at markets this year. Working on wholesale catalog will move forward with that in 2025 some Of my art is in a new gallery. trying nto decide if i should split my gallery presence from my retail store. doing market and figuring out how to grow my online store because baby is tired lol. 😂.
