      Great video as always! I completely agree the current credit system is flawed, but at what cost is this going to be to fix it. For one, like others have posted what government system has ever been smooth and without flaw. This sounds more like less privacy of individual finance. Bank account info and payment history being directly shared to the government. They already know what is reported on end of year taxes. This would allow knowledge of how that money is spent as well. For most people that may not matter but it’s still something to think about. At the end of the day, it’s what it’s. Freedom is far from being free in today’s time. This might make it easier for younger people to get credit they deserve. At the same time giving more credit then someone is accustom to can create problems that could be avoided as well. Because I was in the same situation where my score denied me from great position but I have no worries when I met Hackergold02 on I-g..

    My dad has two credit cards and both of them are between 600-620, so I have decided to help him. I currently started learning how credit works and now I understand that it’s very important to have a good credit score in the US. I’m now trying to get a higher limit (currently 500) and teach my dad how we need to get it up.

    Nice video!! The dispute method also works but takes months or years before the credit Agency replies, I tried several times only about two was cleared. I used Credit streamers in clearing my collections and he said exactly the same thing about the collectors not having any proof and his method worked and I have been gaining points ever since. Kept working with this repair company for 2 months, gained about 220 points on my credit score with several collections cleared. I believe there are several ways to fix a bad credit.

He probably has a ton of outstanding credit card balance, and a hefty car payment. His lifestyle is likely financed in other words. If that's the case he should stick to a budget and eliminate unnecessary expenses. @morpheus6749 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      What I meant was who is providing it to you. Very likely you're not paying TransUnion to get your score. It's more likely that you're getting it from something like CreditKarma or a free service from a credit card like Discover. That being the case, you're not getting the version of FICO that lenders use but rather the more generous version that virtually no lender or creditor uses. You do realize that are many different versions of FICO, not just one. There are also other credit scores that are not FICO at all, just in the same general range as a FICO score, which can easily be mistaken for a FICO score, and again, which aren't used by any lenders. Those scores get their data from the same three credit bureaus (i.e. TransUnion, etc.) but use very different formulas to come up with a score. A 19-year old is not likely to have a FICO score of 738. Not the real, lender version anyway.

    Fortunately in most Commonwealth countries pulling your credit score for renting or hiring is not allowed, as you are not GRANTING CREDIT IN LAW. iN THE USA you can't take a pee pee without your credit being checked. That should be changed, especially when so many real estate THIRD PARTIES want access to your credit score. That's even illegal in the USA but businesses try to get away with it. It's actually against Credit Bureau membership rules, but does not seem to be enforced.

      This! This is what most debt free gurus don't understand. If you close your accounts or just don't use them, they drop off your credit report. That lowers the 'average age of credit' on your report and destroys your FICO score. Good luck getting a loan or anything after that.

    Great info. I’ve learned from Dave Ramsey to also Not Pay Utilities on Credit Cards because the CC Companies see you as irresponsible of not knowing how to handle your finances. So he recommends you pay those by cash (debit cards, money orders, or cash). Basically you depend on a CC to pay your month to month bills which makes you look bad. That’s including cable and cell phone bills.

    My biggest barrier to high credit was always length of credit history. Thankfully, I'm now 10 years out of college and have built up my history, so my score finally broke through to the 800s. I've always been sure to keep that oldest card in good standing.

      Totally Stefanie. I've always thought the credit scores were a little unfair to younger people, like FICO should have something that calculates credit scores differently by age. Seeing the credit score from a specific bureau isn't quite as important as seeing the credit report from each. Your score at each of the three bureaus will be about the same, especially if the stuff on each report matches up. Experian is notorious for making it impossible to see your score. Most credit cards that offer a free look at your FICO use TransUnion. I would focus on finding your score from one of the others and getting your credit reports from each.

    800+ hack: Utilization is a huge factor. No matter what your limit, keep it under 20% utilization at all times. Pay it in full by the due date. If you have more than one cc, make sure most of them are at zero balance and rotate using each, ensuring that only one or two have balances each month. Don't rack up those inquiries. You don't need more than two or three credit cards in order to have flexibility and use the above hacks to get and keep your 800+ credit score. By the way the above won't work if you don't have a grip on your spending so be sure to have a budget in place prior. Live simple.

Pay yourself the money you need to cover the other credit card with a POS like Square or PayPal Here. The fee for using it is way less than a cash advance. You'll have spent the minimum spend basically transferring your debt to another card and get some "free" money on top of it. That's what I did to get out of debt. I haven't used any of my CCs since.

    I wish I could close my Amex Gold card which charges me a fee every year , a fee with perks and services I really do not use. If you'r wondering why did I get it, well I was very young and knew very little about credit cards then. They accepted my request right away and off I went. Now , since I do pay a fee on that card and I've had it for such a long time, it is one of my most used cards and oldest credit history cards. So closing it at this point will most likely hurt me a great deal, but I sure wish I could close it to not have any yearly fees . My credit is excellent as it is, so I don't know if closing it will even matter much to my credit score just my history. Your thoughts/ what woould you do?

      Great question and one I struggled with on an American Airlines citi card. In your case, I'd say close it but try to do it at least six months before you'll need to use your credit. Your score should have pretty much rebounded by then. Another option is to call and tell them you're going to cancel unless they waive the fee (might not work every year but should get you at least one year). No reason to pay annual fees to a credit card.

    Here's how to pay off your mortgage 10 years early and save a fortune in interest ! Split your monthly mortgage payments into weekly or bi-weekly payments. If you pay your mortgage only once per month it takes many more years to pay it off because you're gouged alot in interest. Paying weekly or bi-weekly reduces the principal amount MUCH FASTER...so the end result is paying off your mortgage way ahead of schedule and saving big bucks in accrued interest!

    Why would you call your credit card company and tell them they will get paid in a few months if they remove a mark on your credit report? Seems to me that they could care less as long as you are making payments.

    • @josephhogue
      @josephhogue  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Valid question. The idea is to tell them you might not be able to stay on payment if you can't settle some of the debt. They would much rather take a little discount and get cash now than wait and maybe not get it all later.

    I have a question and maybe someone else might chime in and answer this. You said in the first tip that this even may work for legit debt. What happens to that amount that you owe? Just because it’s not in your report doesn’t mean you don’t owe it anymore right? I feel a bit weird about disputing a debt I know I owe lol. Did I misinterpret what you said? Thanks in advance!

    • @josephhogue
      @josephhogue  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If the creditor doesn't respond to the dispute, it gets wiped off your report. Usually isn't going to work with debt you are paying on because the creditor is definitely going to respond (and you really don't want to use it for that anyway). I'm talking about the past accounts you've paid off but maybe have a missed payment on or some other bad mark. Creditors don't care what's on the report after you've closed the account so they don't respond.

    • @matthewgarcia2119
      @matthewgarcia2119 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Let's Talk Money! with Joseph Hogue, CFA I understand that definitely. Let me give you an example to better illustrate my question. If some one steals a lawnmower from me and I don’t report it, it’s still stolen. My question is: even if the debt is stricken from the credit report, the debt still exists right? It’s just no longer being reported am I correct in this?

    • @josephhogue
      @josephhogue  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ah, yes. Even if something's not on your credit report, if you signed for it then the creditor still has a legal right to the payment.

  • @therealblackcarin2141

    • @josephhogue
      @josephhogue  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      They legally have to investigate and give you a response. Keep a copy of your letter and send it 'return receipt requested' to prove they got it. If they don't respond, you can sue the credit bureau. Happens all the time.

    Any tips on student loan debt?
    What company's combine debt from all bills?

    • @josephhogue
      @josephhogue  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      How you repay your student loan debt depends on the rate and your income. If the rate is low enough (and student loan debt is usually one of your lower-rate debts) then prioritize other debts for payoff and pay the minimums on your student loans. You also want to check out the different loan repayment programs like income-based. If you income is low enough, you might not even have to make payments.

    • @josephhogue
      @josephhogue  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your rate will still probably be fairly high but the idea is that it's still lower than your current debt, so you're saving money on the interest and making it easier/faster to repay. I wouldn't consolidate if the rate wasn't lower though.

      You do need to talk with a credit repair professional. I know of someone who you can talk to and you can ask him questions if he can help with your situation. He charges reasonable fees but he will tell you if he can help you or not. If he does not there is no charge. Take a chance. Also, you may need to know that owning a home now is less expensive for you than renting. If you can solve this problem and re direct your goal to owning a home - that will be more beneficial for you in the long haul. contact (COMPUTERSPYEXPERTS@GMAIL. COM) or text (859) 780-3779

      Credit repair success is one good thing that happened to me this year and I’m very grateful to PROTON who made it possible. I am a single Father, I had collections, late payments and my credit score was 520, it’s so tough trying to get a car loan, my truck broke down and it’s too much to fix it’s a 2008 and 287,000 miles and needs 3,600 worth of work and it’s not worth it. I have been renting and this is so much cost on me so I decided to look for a means to fix my credit so I can get approved for a car loan. I came across Proton on a reliable credit site which listed his email PROTONVIRUS123 at TECHIE dot COM, +for any kind of credit help. I emailed him and to cut the story short PROTON came through, he deleted all the negatives and raised my score to 812. Email him now and have your credit fixed in a short period of time.

    Ahhhh you can't get a credit card with a 560 fico score, my fico is 594 and I have 2 credit cards one with 900 and the other with 500, I've had them both for 2 years and have never missed or been late, I've payed off 2 cars with no late or missed payments I have a current used car loan with a high rate and payment, I can't get a checking account because I was over drawn, there fault not mine so now I can't get a checking account, my son needs oral surgery that ins won't cover, tried to get care credit and was refused for 1000 bucks even begged both my credit cards for a raise and was turned down, I've started with challenging the negative marks on my credit and so far only had 2 removed from experian, do i have to write disputes to all the credit bureaus?? I've been working on building my credit for 4 years, I started at 570 and only gone up 24 pts, I don't think your process works for everybody and it definitely doesn't work the way you say it does at where I'm concerned

    • @josephhogue
      @josephhogue  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are a lot of issues here that are keeping your credit score lower. First, yes you have to dispute the bad marks with every credit bureau. Getting something off one report won't get it removed off another without writing them. Start there and your FICO will increase.

      Really depends on your credit score Aaron. I've got a video coming out that explains it but basically you want to go with the best lender that will accept your FICO. For credit scores above 720, I would go with either SoFi or Lending Club. For lower scores, you can try PersonalLoans.com or Upstart. They all do a soft pull of your credit report, which doesn't hurt your credit score, so it's definitely best to apply to at least a few to see who offers the lowest rate. Good luck. Let me know how it turns out.
