Vader is the greatest science fiction villain of all time. Flawlessly written. Perfectly presented. Brilliantly scored. I could watch a five hour film dedicated solely to Vader alone from his internment into the suit to his ultimate sacrifice. So long as Disney didn't have a hand in it, least ways.
@@DeutscherPatrick Comparing literature and modern cinematics and CG isn't fair. Vader is Vader. He's been a walking nightmare with a fantastic background since his inception.

While the mastery of Williams is unfathomable, I think he draw inspiration from the work of Gustav Holst: if you can, try and listen to "Mars, the bringer of War" by Holst and you will understand what I'm talking about
Anakin’s character is perfect here. The slow transition to the dark side during his time as a jedi when he’s with Palpatine, who promises to teach him the powers of the dark side overwhelm him, because he didn’t want his wife, Padme, who birthed Luke and Leia to die in childbirth. One of the most compelling scenes was when Anakin was encased in the iconic ‘Darth Vader’ armour, at the very end of Episode III
What struck me was how vicious and powerful Vader was as he threw those rebels around upon entering the Tantive. Imagine that scene in the original Episode 4. Theatre goers would have been in shock
It's crazy how Earth Vader for being the 2nd behind Sidious is actually the more intimidating. I can see why he puts dread into the hearts of the jedi and the Rebel Alliance. He has some serious ferocity running through him. Sometimes when I watch the Empire Strikes Back again! It amazes me how much even watching him on the movie gives a slightly intimidating yet eerie and calculated emotion. You know what you are getting with Vader. No nonsense and hands down one of the most brutal siths ever witnessed on movie screens. Maul's absolute schooling of Qui gon and Obi wan was amazing to see and he too was quite badass. But Vader for me edges it in the brutality and pure dread he puts into people. Yes I know Darth Maul was cut in half by Obi wan but only due to his deciding to toy with Kenobi and plot armour. If not, a force push for Obi wan while hanging in the garbage chute and Maul was striking off 2 jedi while only himself being an apprentice. Which should put in perspective as to how brutal the sith assassin Darth Maul actually was. I liked both Vader and Maul. My favourite out of the jedi has always been Luke. I don't know. I guess I liked his green saber. My dad was always more of an old and wise Ben Kenobi. He would have loved to see Qui Gon say " You are a much wiser man than I am. I foresee you will become a great jedi knight " i think thats what he said. Anyway he never got to watch the phantom menace. Yeah, I guess Obi Wan is the epitome of the jedi's jedi. Or adhering to the jedi way. If that makes sense.
Imagine this playing over a picture of a fleet of star destroyers and behind the fleet the faded mask of Vader and the death star off in a corner. That would give me nightmares for days
@Danni Betts I've never seen any film with Heath Ledge. The only Batman movie I liked was the orginal one in 1989 with Michael Keaton & Jack Nicholson. Darth Vader was written as Grand Moff Tarkin's "bulldog", an enforcer on loan from the Emperor who kept his underlings in line through fear. Later he was more like a djinn or a demon ("what is thy bidding, my master?). The cybernetic suit was originally a space suit, like the Storm Troopers' body armor. The wearers were supposed to be ordinary humans underneath and Darth Vader was supposed to take off his helmet to reveal his face once the Troopers secured the ship corridor in the opening. Darth Vader was supposed to be his full name, rather than his title and assumed name, and Luke's father would have been a separate character who worked with him. Ralph McQuarrie, the artist who designed it, mentioned to Lucas that maybe it would be cooler if Vader HAD to wear it for some reason and that it would be more intimidating if he and the Storm Troopers never took off their armor. This allowed them to replace David Prowse's West Country accent with James Earl Jone's threatening baritone. The Storm Troopers were all voiced by the same man (Terry McGovern), leading the fans to speculate whether they were clones or droids.
