Yes probably tons that were never fortunate to have someone filming and documenting it. These guys had an guardian angel when paradise lost was made.
Makes me terrified to think of how many more this is happening to. The sad part is that I think it is more a rule than an exception that law enforcement is tampering with the evidence and facts, to do things that will serve them better. Just watch Al Pacino movie, based on true story, Serpico...

Eli, there are all kinds of docs about falsely accused people and mostly men.
I saw one where a guy did 30 years for raping a "woman."
When they tested the sperm for dna 30 years later, they found 5 different men's sperm in her. She was a whore. She never even got raped.
A good doc to watch is "An Unreal Dream."

This is what I hate about the "criminal justice system." Even in the overwhelming face of a wrongful conviction they refuse to admit a mistake and instead only offer to release you if you plead guilty to a crime that you didn't commit. It disgusts me and I am a police officer.

I now believe Terry Hobbs did it. Immediate family members are ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS the prime suspects & yet Hobbs wasn't even interrogated by the WM police until 14 years after the crime. I have yet to discover why Hobbs was protected by the WM police other than the rumours that he was some sort of drug informant. The connection between Hobbs & the WM police is the key to solving this case.

Hobbs was a CI for the WMPD and they knew his whereabouts the evening of the murders. To think Hobbs did this crime requires the full suspension of critical thinking. Hobbs doesn't have the wherewithal to pull off a triple murder much less keep it a secret. Echols have motive, ability and opportunity. Are you forget Echols' 500 page medical dossier in which he admits to being homicidal?

Guilty or not, I just wanted to form a solid opinion NOT based solely on the films, and I encourage all other WM3 supporters to dig as deep as they can. However, the movies are really good, and provide a great starting point for people who don't know the case.
In all of my research, I've never heard ONE PIECE of murder evidence against the West Memphis 3. And the police are to blame for botching the case so badly that they've not only made it impossible for the public to know who killed the kids, but b/c of incompetence, corruption, and greed they have ensured that justice will never be served to the victims, their families, and the wrongfully convicted WM3, by circling the career wagons and lying to protect the "integrity" of every elected official and/or lawyer climbing the career ladder. Many of the police department, justice system, and attorneys that benefited from this outrageous wrongful conviction can't admit they made a mistake, b/c to do so would be career suicide. But what kind of people value a career over true justice in the murders of three 8 year old kids? Shameful.

This isn't about Metallica t-shirts and black nail polish. This is about a river of lies told in the wake of a triple homicide. Jason says he was hanging out with Damien until about 6:30 on the night of the killings. However, Damien says he was with his family, not with Jason. This whole case is horrific! The children who were murdered and their families suffered so much and these boys who were children themselves were railroaded by the state. They and their families have suffered the same injustice. In essence the killer took the lives of more than the three little boys. There needs to be laws protecting defendants from crooked police, lawyers, judges, and jurors. Anyone who knowingly has a hand in convicting a person of a crime should be prosecuted themselves. I don't understand how these boys could have been convicted on the "evidence" presented at the trials (there was no physical or even circumstantial evidence produced at either trial), but no one has even been charged with the more compelling DNA evidence that was uncovered after the convictions. Even though they've identified the two other people whose DNA was found at the crime scene and on at least one of the victims. The state of Arkansas needs to put on their "big boy pants" and right this wrong, there are consequences to their actions and they need to pardon these men and pay up, this is the least they can do! Sadly, this is probably not the first time this has happened and judging by the way this case has been handled, unfortunately, it probably won't be the last........

You're right, it is absolutely horrendous, the authorities should've done their job rather than pin it on the easiest suspect. What I find just as bad are the people that open their big uneducated mouths saying Damien, Jason, and Jessie did it. Exactly what they need to do is find the Bojangles' man, I am thinking he was a homeless man living in the woods and either witnessed, or committed the crime. However, this man is long gone and the cops blew it big time. They don't even know what he looks like, isn't that just horrible? I am positive either Stevens, Michael's or Christopher's father did it- maybe even all three of the sick bastards were in on it. Unfortunately, the authorities didn't care who did it- they were being pressured by the state to find the murderers and get the case off of their desks. I am happy that the boys got out of prison, but I am unhappy they can't sue the state because of that damn Alford Plea. As of August 19th, it will mark them being out of prison for three years. Yes, that is three years of freedom, but it's also three years of not being exonerated- another three years the state has gone without doing their job, and another three years the real murderers have walked freely. I just want this case to be solved in the worst way, it's not fair to Damien, Jason, or Jessie.

    • @Matthew24JesusWarns
      @Matthew24JesusWarns 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

I totally agree with you, it's amazing the boys were arrested and convicted with no evidence at all, they never found anything that linked any of the teenagers to that crime. However, they have DNA from Hobbs and his friend found at the crime scene and that's not enough for an arrest? It's crazy! Hobbs' DNA was found to be a hair in the center of a knot made to hog tie his step son and his friend's DNA was found on a tree next to one of the boys' bodies. My guess, it was one (or both) of them who left the blood all over Bojangles. It really just makes me sick the "powers that be" in that community have chosen to allow the REAL killer(s) of 3 innocent children to get away with murder. Last time I checked DNA was considered solid evidence. Shame on all of those who had a hand in sending these boys to prison and shame on those who have played any part in keeping them in prison over the years. The Governor can pardon them and give them their lives back, but shame on him if he doesn't right this wrong. It's so wrong this could happen to anyone in our country, but what makes it worse is those who have the power to fix it, have chosen to do nothing.

Stacy L Hobbs hair wasn't found inside a ligature. Surely you aren't that stupid. It could have been the DNA of any one of over millions of people. Six confessions and you can't find a reason for guilt?

    • @Matthew24JesusWarns
      @Matthew24JesusWarns 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

No Linda I'm not stupid. The DNA evidence I'm referring to belonged to the step father of one of the murdered boys, and that hair was found intertwined in the ligature used to tie up another victim, and the other DNA evidence found at the crime scene was from Hobb's alibi. Hmmm, I find it interesting people with your mindset can excuse DNA evidence left at the crime scene and on a victim, but you're willing to condemn the WM3 with no physical evidence linking any of them to the crime scene or the victims? Nothing from not even one boy, 3 teenage boys left nothing? Just to clear something up for you, DNA is exclusive to only one person, example, you are the only person with your DNA profile. Also, did you ever ask yourself why Jessie made "6 confessions"? Let me enlighten you, Jessie is boarder line mentally challenged, his IQ was between 65-70, his first statement didn't fit the scenario the police had determined and he was interrogated and fed information until he gave them what they wanted, he was interrogated without his parents (yes, he was a minor), no legal council, and oddly enough, of all the hours and hours of police interrogation only the "confession" the police wanted was taped. There are several reasons why the Supreme Court granted a new trial. Why don't you read their decision and maybe you can really understand the injustice brought upon the WM3. It's obvious your opinion is based on how you feel about who the WM3 were and not the facts in the case and that's unfortunate, judgmental, and frankly, wrong. I've spent many hours researching this case so I could make an intelligent and informed decision based on the facts and I know, based on the facts of the case, the WM3 should never have been tried, not to mention convicted. Speaking of the conviction, how can you condone juror misconduct? If you've done your homework and know anything about this case, you would know, the jury convicted these boys on "evidence" that was never presented during trial and that's indisputable, the notes are in the jury foreman's own handwriting. I can only ask, before you start to insult the intelligence of another, you first gather all of the information on a subject, set aside your personal feelings, take in all the facts so you have the ability to make an informed decision about how you arrived at your opinion. Our judicial system is supposed to be based on fact, not whether you like the defendant(s), lady justice is blindfolded for a reason.

Stacy L Stacy, you seemingly have a decent command of English, but your lack of new paragraphs and punctuation is wanting. That being said, I don't have the time nor inclination to tread ground that has been covered time and time again, but I'll digress momentarily.
Hobbs DNA was not found at the crime scene. DNA consistent with Hobbs was found on a shoelace and representative of 1.5% of the population; that's millions of candidates notwithstanding variability. My guess was it was secondary transfer.
If you've ever been on a jury and clearly, you haven't, you would know that courts allow (and convict with) circumstantial evidence alone. While circumstantial doesn't indicate direct culpability, it by definition infers such. Echols lies, lack of credible alibi, medical history, failing polygraphs, court demeanor all indicate guilt. Moreover, he can be placed near the scene and couple that with the Misskelly confessions (disallowed) converts guilt. Were there hick-ups in the trial? You bet. Could there have been cause for mistrial? You bet, again. But a second trail would have dealt the same correct blow; guilty.
I grew up in WM and knew many of the players. I've read jivepuppi, wm3truth, callahan8k and yes, have seen the propaganda of Paradise Lost. My professional background is in chemistry and I understand DNA and forensics better than most lay people. I have no doubt as to their guilt and I dismissed you as a serious doubter when you mentioned Misskelley's IQ. The man has a college degree!
Echols could have taken it to trial but he instigated and copped the Alford Plea. As I've stated before, I would have easily convicted Echols and Baldwin alone on circumstantial evidence although I know things about this case many people are not aware. I'll say one thing for Jessie, he has a soul and as far as I'm concerned, an absolved soul.
Lastly, even though justice was served temporarily for 18 years, this case stopped being about justice many years ago. It's about money; Hollywood money. The money that thinks it's doing good when in fact, it's in bed with evil. Even Depp has left Echols side after seeing the lies spewed on Piers Morgan.

We all know that Damien was just one of several names on a list that Mr. Driver gave to the police. He was asked to come up with a list of JUVENILES that he personally thought could've been involved. My question is....with this being such a heinous crime, why would anyone ever think that another child could have committed such gruesome murders? Especially so soon in the investigation?!? What made them take that leap to begin with?

Think about of how many black children and adults have experienced this same injustice without anyone outside of the community taking an interest in the misjustice they have experienced. Im a middle aged white, rural, southern male and I can clearly see the existence of institutional racism. I really didn't want to see and believe as such, but to deny it's existence would be to live a lie. A lie that kills. I've also lost family and friends to violent crime. I understand the depth of emotion that makes you feel as if you won't survive. But to allow that same emotion to blind you to how wrong it is to jump to conclusions and make decisions based on feelings, is to embrace that very injustice. Your grief and pain are not an excuse nor a justification. 6 boys died that day. The 3 young victims and the innocence and childhood of the 3 falsely accused. And what's just as profane is that by knowingly convicting the innocent, you are abetting and encouraging the actual killer to kill again.

Yes, but then the WM3 lovers will claim the test was rigged and the cops are corrupt. Unfortunately, there's always enough bad police work to give them wiggle room. In the end, the test that matters is common sense. That's ultimately why the WM3 were found guilty.

    • @StevePenningtonoO7

wm3 were found guilty so there was no need but this is for the public to finally know and the public is the one who has to make up their mind on the results and the evidence of a cover-up. there was blood evidence and fiber evidence. the prosecution couldn't bring that up but was warned by the judge if they kept saying there wasn't any blood evidence he was going to allow luminol results into evidence. it showed blood all over the banks.
with OJ well of course when you have a Prejudice jury considering the evidence of blood testing you can run into problems but any sane individual has to honor that type of test after debunking a conspiracy theory that would have the entire police department guilty of obstruction.

Well said. However, the WM3 aren't off scott free. They are on probation; Alford probation. One screw up and they could easily go back to prison. The first to go will be Misskelly. It's hard to believe he can function outside a prison when it's the only real home he has ever known.

I really do respect everyones opinion on this case. tell me what you want, tell me how the 3 were wrongfully convicted but i think they did it the wm3 had the largest defense fund in history so it takes a law teem better then OJs to get you out of prison but still have the conviction on your record. I really dont care about the wm3 anymore in my opinion SpikevsDracula is correct when she court system has many flaws and letting out the wm3 proves it ...in my opinion and that's all it is

It's all about him. He certainly doesn't have or use the words of an innocent man. The State of Arkansas didn't want to spend the time, money or effort on a 2nd trial, hence the Alford Plea. Gitchell was 100% he was guilty. Legal bottom line, he's a convicted murderer and 3 children are dead.

Things I wish they would of addressed in the documentary...
    1) Jesse confessed in less than 4 hours, the documentary said 12 hours. This is not true, Look at the case files.
    2) Jesse confessed multiple times after the police confession. Jesse confessed to his own attorney twice after being convicted.
    3) Jesse then confessed to the prosecuting attorneys against his own lawyers advice, with no type of deal.
    4) Jesse's own IQ specialist said there was signs of "malingering" in his IQ tests.
    5) None of them have an ALIBI, its a fact.
    6) Luminol tests at the crime scene showed large amounts of blood left.
Luminol testing was new at the time so it could not be used in evidence
    7) Damien lies repeatedly its crazy how much he lies and nobody calls him on his bullshit
    8) Most these films are made from the defense's point of view, who also hired these "specialists" with their 20million dollar budget.
I would like a non-biased view that is not afraid to show all the evidence and details of the case. Just my opinion, hate if you want but I do believe most ppl are fooled by the propaganda of it all

Most people know they are guilty but dont care about them being released A lot of countries you only get 10-15 years for murder and they already served 18 so most peeps probably think they done enough time.

I guess I always knew this kind of thing happened(s) in America, but this still shocks me. "The Thin Blue Line" and "West of Memphis" .... I still have a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that this level of injustice happens in America.
