It’s one of my first ever games and made me love gaming, very near and dear to my heart and one of my all time favorites. I’m always shocked people don’t talk about this one. I almost prefer it to turtles in time

Out of all the TMNT games (Arcades included), this game right here is my absolute favorite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game of all time. It just had everything in it, from beautifully detailed 8-bit levels that the NES could muster in its time, absolutely terrific and memorable soundtrack of music (Bridge of Danger level 3 being my favorite, and the rooftop level fight theme being my second favorite, then the boss theme Crazy Attack being third favorite), and an assortment of standout bosses from both the TV Cartoon show of the 80’s, Comics and the live action movie sequel, and finally the Turtles all have special attacks that make each one of them different in their own way. My only flaw with this game was wishing it was 4-players during it’s time and wishing that you could fight Bebop and Rocksteady together at the same time after defeating them in their first respectable encounters in a later level, as well as Tokka and Razar after their first respectable encounters too. That would have been cool, but other than that, this game is an absolute masterpiece of a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game and beat em up game in general, it’s replay value is through the roof and sadly this was the pinnacle of the greatest time for the TMNT franchise and fanbase. I could argue that SNES/Arcade Version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV Turtles in Time was the final home run for the franchise and sadly after that, our heroes in a half shell medium would slowly start trekking downhill from that point on 😔, and it was sad to live through, but positively euphoric to be there as a young kid fan during the start of the rise to popularity and fame and unforgettable memories that will forever live with each and every one of us now. Despite all the bad things going on now in the current era of time, and the badly manufactured and corporate era of video games and toxic fans that try to manipulate people into either becoming a fan like them to these new video games, or simply written off as a hater that doesn’t deserve to live in their eyes, just for simply disagreeing with them and not particularly liking the video games out now or the direction that most franchises in gaming are going nowadays. Despite all the sad downfall of modern video games in today’s realistic looking video game era, we still live on in this new world with our great past memories of these retro video games and the joy they brought us and the world, every one of us has a special assortment of memories from this era of gaming that make us happy and always linger in our mind as a time where everything made sense, everything was fun, everyone was fun and understanding and it is why people still talk about these times, and modern video game developers try to replicate the formula and style of these times but just can’t, although I could argue that there are view that do actually replicate it perfectly and create standout video games, but those developers are very very rare in these modern times. (Sorry for this long comment, I just felt like giving much praise to an unforgettable masterpiece of a video game and the times that it was created in, and in my opinion, we were very very lucky and grateful to grow up and live through one of the greatest eras of time, and we should always cherish that, at least I know that I do 😊).
Well cheer up. Shredder's Revenge is going to bring the Turtles the good old days that we haven't seen since Turtles in Time. Here's hoping it'll turn out good.
Did see also below by the Lifebars the Turtles have all orange colors on their head. I mean Leonardo have also a orange color and the fact that he have blue. Is that a fault by the devellopers maybe?
@@fransvanesch1184 It's not developers fault, it's a limitation of NES. NES can display only 4 colors in status bar (in this case white, black, orange and green)
My personal favorite TMNT game. It always bothered me that this game didn't seem to enjoy the praise it deserves, having been sandwiched between TMNT II: the Arcade Game, which was highly anticipated and had already had a tremendous following, and TMNT IV: Turtles in Time, another highly anticipated arcade port, released on the next gen system. I loved this game the most because it wasn't trying to be something it couldn't be. The second installment was a decent port of the first arcade game, but I'd played the arcade game so much that when I got the home version I just wasn't as enthusiastic about it, knowing that it couldn't live up to my expectations. With Turtles in Time, I'd played the arcade game first as well, and while the SNES version was very good and close to the arcade counterpart, it still just wasn't the same as standing there with 3 other players. TMNT III for me was just a great stand-alone title that didn't try to be anything other than its own game. There were no real comparisons to draw because the only way back then to play it was at home on your NES. And, they packed so much into the game too. Massive levels, bosses and mini bosses, 4 Turtles who played differently from each other (to some extent), great music and it even seemed longer than the others. I always felt that I was getting my money's worth. The only down side to the experience for me was that this game wasn't released in the arcades as a sort of remake where 4 players could control the Turtles. I just found this to be very fun, interesting and less gimmicky than the Turtles in Time, and much better than TMNT II: The Arcade Game.
No it was already something that people thought it couldn’t be. And it did well. This game deserves way more praise. Also no the snes version WAS the same as standing there with 3 other players. All of what you said is bull and it isn’t better than TMNT II the arcade games. Also no TMNT Turtles in time isn’t gimmicky
And Manhattan is restored to its proper place, returning everything to normal. at least, once the bridges and other transportation channels off of the island are fixed, all of the extensive electrical systems are restored, all of the buildings -- *all* of them -- on the island are inspected for structural damage resulting from the entire island being lifted up and then lowered back down and then said structural damages (which will likely be extensive) are repaired. Oh, and of course the city's sewer network is likely going to need a complete overhaul because the damage likely affected that, also. And the roads and subway tunnels. These games get a lot darker when you get older and actually understand city infrastructure.

Wow. The first video game I owned and played. Could never kill shredder though. He got red and then his health would become 100 percent again. I guess that was a glitch or something. Great memories. Thanks dad for bringing home this game.
Same thing happened to me too but now after buying an R36S console I downloaded another version and in that version shredder didn't do something like that he was just like the other bosses. It was the first video game I owned too back in those days a game chip costed 50 rs
@@abishekrk6707 Yes ! in Pakistan it used to cost about 100 to 150 rs and that felt like a lot back in the day. Several years ago, two of my former classmates played this game and never finished it; the final boss always destroyed them. They almost killed me when they found out that I finished the game by myself in two days (9 hours to be specific, the game was rented and I had school).
This was one of the handful of NES games I had as a young kid and I was a big fan of the Ninja Turtles so I played it a lot. The music really holds up! The visual style is really good and there is such a huge variety of enemies! I have been playing the new 'Turtles game on Switch this week, "Shredder's Revenge", and it's really good - but the music doesn't quite meet the standard set by this game.
Below bij the Lifebars all the Turtles have a orange color on their heads. I mean Leonardo has a blue one but there it is Orange. Its a fault by the develloper maybe?
Though there was no Baxter Stockman, General Tragg, Metalhead, The Rat King, or Captain Zorak & the Triceratons (& the latter two were misleading as they were shown on the cover of the cartridge & on the NES box of the game). Those are the only villains missing in this game, though thankfully, most of them were back in the Arcade & SNES versions of Turtles In Time & in Shredder's Revenge. Other than that, TMNT III was great. IMO, it's the superior NES Turtles game compared to TMNT 1, TMNT II: The Arcade Game, & even Tournament Fighters (the SNES version of that game is better compared to the NES & Genesis versions).
I'd love to see this game get a 2D or 3D remake since it was never a arcade game like II or Turtles in Time. Props for them using Groundchuck and Dirtbag.
My brother and didn't finish this when we were kids wayback. But we can't seem were just a kid and we only play this if our parents let us to play it once in a while, so no progress at all. But because of you I already know its ending and it's good to remember all the memories we had by my brother because of this game. Thanks again!

Он то краснел, то бледнел бесконечно, и мы выключали игруху, уже просто отчаявшись в этом направлении, хотя лайфы ещё оставались. Пройти игру дальше удалось только тогда, когда достали картридж с выбором уровней.
Just recently played this and I liked it a bit more than part 2. It's a bit more manageable, you don't have to do the special move all the time in order to kill foot soldiers that always felt kinda cheap in my opinion. Still I enjoyed both games at the end.
With the big muscle guys that shoot at you, or swing at you, there's a certain place you can stand in front of them where they can't hit you but you can hit them.
I'd like a nice remake of this game; But the developer logic is probably "Why make games based on the 80s cartoon when we can make games based on the recent movies?" - Similar logic with the Transformers.
Me and my friend would accidentally hit each other in the game and then the other would get angry and take revenge and we'd end up killing each other 😂
The game features play mechanics similar to the previous game, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game, but it is an original title for the NES without any preceding arcade version. It is based on the 1987 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series, being released after the show's 5th season.
Foot Soldier riding on giant mouse was awesome. Can't believe they came up with that and it wasnt on the cartoon. :D On a side note someone needs to make an NES emulator that gets ride of the flicker in games. That would be awesome. Forgot how much these games did. I guess when you were having fun you didn't notice it.

Facts but the Donatello player struggled with the controls at some moments I saw that. But yeah I guess Lydia played as Don and attacked the air in some situation because Raven has an unique fighting style and He goes for Leonardo always, I saw that too. You can recognise Raven playing as Leonardo because His unique combo tactics and reactions.
I have a question. I have the game, I don't know if it's original or not. But when I'm playing the game it gets slow if there are a lot of enemies. It is normal?
Made exclusively for the NES and I think of the 3 games made in this format it’s the best. Even if the arcade and SNES were more capable. The controls feel way tighter IMO.

Just recently played this and I liked it a bit more than part 2. It's a bit more manageable, you don't have to do the special move all the time in order to kill foot soldiers that always felt kinda cheap in my opinion. Still I enjoyed both games at the end.
🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺😭😭😭 remember childhood
With the big muscle guys that shoot at you, or swing at you, there's a certain place you can stand in front of them where they can't hit you but you can hit them.
This TMNT:Manhattan project game Needs to be the next game Xbox360 & PS3 remake's as did with the recent Duck Tales remake.
Haohmaru Of Wind lol so is the streets of rage Japanese version
Haohmaru Of Wind Almost NO one has beaten battletoads NES
Supertron5000
I'd like a nice remake of this game; But the developer logic is probably "Why make games based on the 80s cartoon when we can make games based on the recent movies?" - Similar logic with the Transformers.
Supertron5000 i would say i agree if not for xbox/ps3 remaking ducktales nes recently on xboxlive & psn.
Never was I able to find this game, but it is awezome :) Also loved the Arcade game :D
So much fun
My cousin and I double teamed on this one so many times.
I lovit the best game Turtles 3 from nes.
Video game have their own story. The best part of this game is that u can play with two player together.
Me and my friend would accidentally hit each other in the game and then the other would get angry and take revenge and we'd end up killing each other 😂
Teenage mutant ninja turtles Cowabunga Collection Continues ❤❤
They could have just.. taken the Turtle Blimp right from the get-go and skip the first three levels entirely.
Hey hey hey......no applying logic to a video game......
....also, shouldn't Manhattan be blacked out. 😜
Didn't knew 3cpo made a cameo here.
This video just made my day
joguei muito as Tartarugas Ninjas 3 nos anos 90
I played Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3 a lot in the 90s
This one is my favorite. Raphael is my favorite hands down.
My also
Me and brother used to play this and it took us some time back in the day but we did beat the game. Old memories
Suggestion: during the surfing stage, keeping swinging your weapon to destroy those electric mines, you’ll take less damage.
Thanks for that Professor Copy & Paste.
The sprite flicker is horrendous in this game. A stark contrast from Super C to this.
Old memories
Foot Soldier riding on giant mouse was awesome. Can't believe they came up with that and it wasnt on the cartoon. :D On a side note someone needs to make an NES emulator that gets ride of the flicker in games. That would be awesome. Forgot how much these games did. I guess when you were having fun you didn't notice it.
Back in Millennium we made it to last stage after playing for 3-5 hrs but Shredder killed us😭

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Definitely Has Defeated Super Shredder. At 1:12:03
The one who played as Donatello didn't benefit the very effective fighting style of Don. It seems that Leo too dominates the game
Well geez Leo that was rather screwed against Shredder but at least you did beat him with that one life. lol
We don't have games like these anymore. I wonder why.
Me too
Scott Pilgrim vs the World
This game is so fun!!
I have a question. I have the game, I don't know if it's original or not. But when I'm playing the game it gets slow if there are a lot of enemies. It is normal?
I personally like to use one and raph. The special attack that they have are better than the othe rs
who's is a micky lover was in this game because of his upside down kick XD
Made exclusively for the NES and I think of the 3 games made in this format it’s the best. Even if the arcade and SNES were more capable. The controls feel way tighter IMO.
the stage music of scene 7 is so epic, my favorite stage :)
Especially the rooftop.
The way they rub their eyes on the beach and blink the camera :)
O melhor game das tartaruga sem sombra de dúvida..
I never actually beat this game as a kid.
El mejor juego de las tortugas ninja
Hasta párese que grabaron cuando jugaba con mi hermana ese juego a los 8 años
Every next level I'm like....
Oh yeah. Great game, and great memories.
Increíble este juego. Que buenos recuerdos carajo!!!
