Matt is a National treasure. He is so good at his profession and you can tell he knows that he is blessed to have a job that he loves doing what he adores. .
Yay StuffWriter! Happy Independence Day, Sir. And THANK YOU for sharing these great videos with us. I wish I could be there all the time. I was born in PA, and would live on that battlefield if they'd let me. You are doing us all a great service. 😊
My GGgrandfather served in the 5th Mass light artillery. Cpl Benjamin Laurence Graham. The Nation Lives. Great battle walk. Under appreciated subject. Brave honorable men.
Stuffwriter, Thank You so much, for your dedication at putting out such fine videos, so that we can all watch and see these amazing lectures by the park rangers. Matt Atkinson is my all time favorite.
Another well done production. Your filming is very good and Matt has gotten better with age. I miss my Gettysburg visits, but your videos help fill that void.
Sadly the Guide misled the public. When speaking about how close artillery pieces were to each other, he said there were separated because of collateral damage. That is NOT TRUE. He should know the the distance to each gun was set up so when they were to limber up the caisson had to travel AROUND the front of the gun to hook up. The cassion always FACED the gun when unlimbered. The distance between each gun could always be wider but never shorter than 20 feet so the casisson could Wheel around the front of the gun. He should have known that. Sad. He's a Park Ranger.

@sethmaxfield6658 Yes indeed. Take the artillerymen on east cemetary hill the night of the 2nd that stood to their pieces while the infantry abandoned the line. Those redlegs held the line virtually unsupported yet don't receive the credit they deserve.
All the heroics and medals of honor and the day was saved by stopping one Mississippi infantry brigade . Well done Barksdale and your Mississippi boys . You sure made a splash !

I’m sorry, but we’re not here to learn about the history of a ranger. We are here to learn about the artillery of this battlefield all all the little anecdotes, the personal asides, cheers for the crowd, and the other things, cut them. This two hours long!?
Precisely. This Ranger is always silly and cracking jokes on HALLOWED ground. What’s funny about 700,000 battle deaths? Yet the goobers always fall in love with him. Disrespectful junk.

Thank you StuffWriter, I can't get to Gettysburg. I'm in a wheelchair and wanted to go but I can't, thanks again
Thank you stuffwriter!!! So happy to see Matt again!
So nice to see you again, Matt. Always enjoy your videos. Hope all is well with you.

Well done video, thank you
Love Gettysburg artillery. My GGG grandfather was there with Pattersons confederate battery.
All us Red Legs know the importance of McGilvery actions on the 2nd. Thank you again for another tour vid.
Why no Medal of Honor for McGilvery ?

@@howardclegg6497 that was more specifically because MoHs were not awarded posthumously during the war. And McGilvery didn't survive the war either...

oh wow i notice some people from past years on this walk crazy been watching them that much
My favorite Matt Atkinson battle walk ever! Had no clue about LTC McGilvery! Could be considered the hero of July 2nd...
All the heroics and medals of honor and the day was saved by stopping one Mississippi infantry brigade . Well done Barksdale and your Mississippi boys . You sure made a splash !
This presentation was edifying!
Brilliant thanks for sharing with us 👍
Great idea to insert photographs as Matt is speaking about the cannons.
Love the vids! To anyone seeing this....anybody vid the Barksdale 21st Mississippi battle walk on July 2?
My first trip to Gettysburg and I was on that bus
Again, Dan Sickles! The unavoidable General, in terms of Gettysburg! We all love Dan!
I believe the mystery battery in McGilvery's line was Battery C, 3rd Massachusetts, Captain Aaron Wolcott.
They must've had lots of Belgian Budweiser horses pulling all those heavy guns😮
I have to admit I’m a Matt Atkinson fanboy (all the way out in Eastern Idaho)
I love Ranger Matt!
Thanks for sharing this!! Do you know if it's possible to contact Matt in any way?
I am remember that Armistad-Walk very well. Jesus, we are doing this for a long time.
God bless Abraham Lincoln, Frederick Douglass, and all who fought to save the USA and end African American slavery.
How did that work out for you?

So Matt ain't going to do the other walks anymore except cannon stuff
Did he say that? No.
Great job Matt ⚔️🎤😎
