    The name Oziris actually comes from one of the Axterix movies, where an illusionist called Iris would hypnotize people into behaving like animals. In the movie, there was a visual gag where a man came out of Iris' temple flying like a bird. In the coaster's storyline, the rider is that man, and they're flying around the area.

    I’m glad you’re giving this coaster a lot of love because I don’t hear a lot of people talk about this ride~ very fast paced despite this ride only going 56 mph. Fun fact, OzIris was the first B&M inverted coaster to feature a dive loop.

    I believe the reason for the pre drop on older B & M's is to help the chain lift decouple from the chain dog.

    • @TripleTSingt
      @TripleTSingt 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      yeah, on newer ones, the chain speeds up with the train going down the drop. It helps reduce stress on the chain and cuts down on maintenance cost

    • @TonyKimtheamusementparkfan

    The designers of the theming clearly either went to Egypt or did their research for this coaster. A lot of this theming reminds me of some of the places I saw in Luxor. For example, the sarcophagus part and the extensive illustrations on the walls resembles the Valley of the Kings and the Temple of Hatshepsut has the same starry blue sky on the ceiling (just aged way more 😂). I've ridden Montu and can say that the theming there is very whimsical compared to this and doesn't really show what Egypt has to offer. I'd love to make it to Asterix at some point, this is a great review!

    For me the zero-g rolls really make it a stand out coaster. They're such a weird shape and nothing like the conventional B&M zero-g rolls, I felt like I was experiencing zero-g as I floated through them!
    Also I'm surprised you never picked up on the ride op both control panel set up thingy! 😆

    I don't know how to describe it, it's like a mix of an old and modern B&M Invert. It has a pre drop and floaty zero G roll like Banshee but also has forcefull old-school elements and OTSR. Really interesting.

    BGT really ought to have a queue like this for Montu. I don't think it would feel redundant with the queue for Cobra's Curse. I think it would serve to just bring that area together more. The theming in thr Egyptian area is some of the best in the park. It would really be cool for Montu to have a more elaborate queue and loading station.

    I think you didn't ride it at the best time. Oziris uses different wheels for the summer. These are more forgiving on the track but do have more roll resistance. If you ride it in like April, it is absolutely hauling. It is much more intense than in the summertime. So I would definetly recommend trying it in spring because then it is probably at its peak performance.

I rode it a lot since it's my home park, OzIris runs smoother and faster in summertime bogies configuration : regularely 5 polyurethane and 3 nylon assemblies on winter, and 8 polyurethane assemblies on summer ! Quick glance to the wheels in the station and you know how it will ride ;)

    The coaster's theaming is based on a scene from Tweleve tasks of Asterix comic book and movie. Here you have a scene which it is based on: th-cam.com/video/NejZ2pTa18w/w-d-xo.html
    Asterix and Obelix were tasked by Julius Cesar to complete twelve challenges that only gods would be able to complete in order to prove to the Roman Empire that they are godlike. If they win Ceasar would hand over the Roman Empire to them, if not their village would need to surrender. This was one of their tasks. The whole plot is lightly based on the Twelve Labours of Hercules.

    I'm with you on "modern" B&M inverts, though I don't think it's necessarily about the newness. I didn't really like Banshee, and inverts are my favorite style of coaster. The thrill of an invert is that your body has a much-larger range of motion than any other coaster, so elements feel extremely different from when you are sitting right above the track. A corkscrew on an invert is a completely different sensation than a corkscrew on any other type of coaster, except for maybe a wing coaster. But when an invert is going so fast that it's pushing you back into your seat, you're noticing that sensation way more than any element. OzIris has a top speed of 58mph, similar to Montu's 60. Most inverts go about 50mph, like all the Batmans, both Nemeses and Black Mamba, which may be my current favorite (only in the back row, and it's totally about the theming). The vast majority seem to be in this 50-60mph range. I haven't ridden them all but I've ridden a lot and my two least-favorites are Banshee and Alpengeist, which clock in at 68 and 67. I've ridden them both more than once and they aren't awful rides, there are just far-better coasters in those parks I'd rather ride. Alpengeist is definitely not a newer coaster, so I really think it's more about speed than it is anything else.

    I agree that Montu is better, more ambitious and more amplitude, it's a giant version and for that it's so cool ! But Oziris gave me my passion for rollercoasters, it will always be in a good place on my rankings !

  • @alphawinnergx9127
    @alphawinnergx9127 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I believe the best invert in France is The Monster at Walygator. Even though it has litterally NO theming AT ALL, it's really intense as it's a clone of Raptor at CP without the mcbr. However, I am serious when I say no theming. This coaster was relocated from Japan, and it's just plopped down in a field. The queue is underneath the platform, and there isn't even a roof on the station.

    one of my biggest flop coaster, i expected so much but its really not that good, good layout, but just no enough speed and forces...way too slow and too smooth, you can feel that it hardly pass each inversion compare to a Katun or Monster walygator that just pack so much forces through each inversion, oziris clearly doesn't worth to take a plane and test it...oziris is like a big black mamba, no punch but good layout...
