The house that they “renovated” was only used for the exterior shots of the home, all of the interior and the backyard were done on a soundstage. So when the actual house was purchased by HGTV they “renovated” the inside to represent what was previously done on a soundstage.
Ron Howard was also bullied going to regular school. They teased him calling him Dopie Opie or they would whistle the AGS theme song when he walked by. That little girl who played Punky Brewster was also bullied in school. When it comes to being cruel, public school kids are opportunists. The more they know about another kid the more ammunition they have.
This reminds me about Michael Jackson's father. He had wanted to be a famous musician, but things didn't pan out. So he lived vicariously through Michael and his brothers. It was very sad.
Watching the series the Brady bunch you really couldn't tell it effected Chris knight. Yes in the eighties he went with the flow and he made appearances on all the reunions. When the Brady bunch met the partridge family you could tell he never let stardom get to him he never went into drugs like a lot of child hood stars did . Not llike his TV older sister Maureen McCormick or Danny Bonaduce.he might have been pushed back then but times were hard. Most families were blessed to see their kids get a break from ordinary life. Plus he could have been schooled on the set to avoid the conflict in an ordinary school like most child stars did. .he survived the test of time and came out ahead something worked for him Now a multi millionaire & survived 3 failed marriages I commend him for all he went through with family at an early age. He proven well from it all in the end..good for you Christopher knight 👏 ..your life is lesson for all cildstars your a proven Actor.
The Brady Bunch is a great show and I still enjoy it on Me TV on Sundays plus I have the DVDs. It makes me sad to think that he didn't enjoy being on the show, but it's completely understandable, especially given the age he was. People like a show, but they forget that it's hard, hard work. It looks easy, it isn't. 😭
I remember Knight saying that he would spend time with Mike "Bobby Brady" Lookinland's family to get what he thought was a normal family life. Apparently he went on more camping trips with with the Lookinlands than Mike, their own natural son, did.
No,they ruined your adulthood, they were the best part of our childhood and now,we at least have them out of our system. (kids, don't try this at home, it may be fatal)
Ann B Davis said he had the most comedic acting talent out of the 6 kids. I think he was too good at this role to have hated it too much. The opportunity was rare and it provided a lifetime of income potential. I was his age, watched the show, identified and wished I were him while hating being in my family while MY MOTHER SMOKED CIGARETTES. Sorry to hear he divorced so many times... but again... many opportunities came his way. It's a living. He was truly adorable... "pork chops and applesauce".
I remember that one, his Mom said he was trying to sound like Humphrey Bogart. I guess us middle kids tend to have a identity complex. My favorite is the VOLCANO!.....Alice is going to kill you...
Christopher knight not only child actor been through this with not schooled on set, traditional school child actor is wrong. Happy Thanksgiving day Christopher knight.
Great show when I was a kid...dated today but still on TV. MJ had a ruin childhood too, just saying Chris was good on the show, sorrow he didn't have good reflection
Acting professionally when a child too often ruins the kid's life. Some never get to grow to adulthood and some never really become adults. It's a necessary part of the film/TV/theatre business, but sometimes at the cruel sacrifice of a lot of kids.
His parents forced him into acting as a child, and it was something he didn't even enjoy or want? That's unethical, at the least. Just my opinion, as a father, but that's something that I wouldn't do to my child. That's probably really rough on a kid.
Am I the only one that remembers the game show that he hosted during 2008-2009 called Trivial Pursuit: America Plays? There was one episode where the Brady kids were on there.. Plus he and the Brady kids appeared on the Weakest Link..
I didn't know that he was bullied in school. I am so glad that he found a career away from the spotlight! He is a great actor and sounds flulike he is also a great businessman! Good job!
Just a note on the title: It's not technically possible to permanently ruin a momentary event. Childhood is by its nature temporary so logically it can only be ruined while it exists. Anyone whose childhood is permanent, has already passed before their childhood was over.
Sadly, lots of kids, TV stars or not are bullied. I think Christopher has overall had a successful life, partially thanks to the Brady Bunch, but I don't think he should have been pressured into show biz by his parents.
I'm sure all of the kids had some difficulties with being TV stars at an early age. The 70's show, not 60's was in stiff competition with The Partridge Family which had an established star Shirley Jones and David Cassidy. More kids seemed at the time to gravitate towards the Latter because they were less affluent a family. Be that as it may sorry about Knight's rough time but do appreciate his portrayal of Peter.
My favorite Peter quote, "if she were mine, I'd treat her like a QUEEN ".(I dedicate that quote to YOU)......(I apologize if you're a GUY.....KING if so)
I know Christopher Knight liked being famous because I passed him on the street in NYC when I clearly noticed him (from the look on my face), he instantly got this big smile 😀 on his. Maybe it was hard on him growing up but by the time he was in his 20's when this incident occurred he really liked being noticed.
Hear is another thought. All things considered, Christopher Knight's life could have been so much worse. Lots of child stars have ended up addicted to some substance or another. At least, Christopher didn't go that route, thank goodness!!
Christopher's parents should not have depended on him to support the whole family financially. That's too much pressure for a child. From Ms. Harper Stacey.
Pete you were my favorite Bobby did the NASCAR thing & Greg was cool as shit were Twinkies you had .e by a few years and I was older than Bobbie in the 70's
I didn't know the BB, but I'm not american. I just saw an episode of the love boat on YT, where he had a little part, and I was surprised how he looks like Tom Holland and had the same voice too, so I was curious. I think there's still a lot to do for the rights of the children actors, and for the animals in movies too.
He was a neighbor of a friend I had in High School. Just a year or so younger than I, but he was down to earth and very nice. I am surprised he had four wives, as he was pretty charming, so I would think he was a good catch. Maybe he is too nice and trusting...
The real life daughter of Robert Reed and the real life daughter of Florence Henderson appeared in a episode about Marcia's slumber party. From Ms. Harper Stacey.
@ Impossible to choose as I’ve seen each episode probably hundreds of times in the last 40+ years, but I tend to enjoy the later episodes in general just to admire the bell bottoms, polyester and so-ugly-they’re-cool outfits! 😉
MR. KNIGHT-- IF YOU REALLY HATED BEING A CHILD STAR SO MUCH ,, WHY LATER IN YOUR OLDER DAYS DID YOU BRING TO TV YOUR HOME LIFE YOUR PERSONNAL LIFE AND GET PAYED FOR THAT???????
it was "LATER" in his "OLDER DAYS". I think he spoke with great honesty of how he felt being a child star ruined his childhood. As an adult he can cash in on his past if he wants, but in his boyhood he wasn't given much of a choice of how he could live his life.
OMG.. HE was so handsome and I must have been doing Crack fir ayesr because I watched he and SKITSO GIRL fall in love and then later at some point he his own reality show with her. And Miss Priss Flirence Henderson came on and was like...um....she's...um...no...you...shouldn't get married yet. I'm not watching it because I will hate him if he married that SKANK and she took him for lots of $.
The Brady bunch stars never got residuals. Sherwood Schwartz, the creator of the Brady bunch and gilligan's island was the only one to receive residuals. From Ms. Harper Stacey.

It was obviously jealousy on their part.
At least Ron Howard had a close loving relationship with his parents. Christopher's parents sound like a real piece or work to put it kindly.

Very sad. Huge fan of the Jackson family.
It always saddened me to hear about parents living their dreams through their children!

The Brady Bunch was a great show. I love watching it. I didn't know he had problems with bullying. Great Facts!
Grew up watching that show I loved every episode and every season
Neither did I. Now that I know, it's great that he was the Brady brother that helped little sister, Cindy, with her bullies. Love it.

I was also shocked about him hating the character that made him famous. There are many actors who hated playing the character that made them famous.

Wow. He was pretty jealous of his brother.

I suppose anything could be possible but as we see in recent media coverage all 5 of the Brady Kids are still appearing often as a group.
I remember seeing Chris Knight on an early episode of CHiP's when he played Jon Baker's nephew Wes around 1978
