    He started detailing the same way I started. I got a Jeep as my first car and I knew it was a nice car, but only if it was clean, so I became obsessed with cleaning it and learning how. Then I started trying products on family cars and to “pay” them, I fully detailed it for real. I started a “business” at 13 that I ran out of my parents house. This spring I plan on re-pricing, going mobile and becoming way more professional.

    Love this video. I actually started the same way, detailing my own cars for 20 years. I also started detailing friend's and family's cars. I bought a ton of equipment. Cars are my passion anyway so making them all look better and having owners fall in love with their cars all over again. I had been a Computer Modeler, and Building Information Modeling Manager or BIM Manager for 26 years. One day after finishing a project I was so proud of and having no one give me credit, taking my credit and then just shoving another project at me expecting it done faster I just quit. I had saved money so I started my own business and took a leap of faith. God will provide.

    Just ran across your channel, Joel, and I'll definitely be subscribing! I love your story - it resonates with me. I'm 52 years old and just recently discovered that I'm passionate about detailing. I've been doing mine and my wife's vehicles, as well as a few for friends here and there for free. I know I'm too old to really go all-in with full a full time detailing business - my body likely wouldn't let me do the work I'd need to do, at least not for very long. But I'm seriously considering doing it part-time on weekends. Looking forward to following your journey and learning from you along the way!

    Dude Joel you are exactly like me exact I'm younger in your situation i'm only 24 and listening to your story man I am EXACTLY the same I have a 2007 Audi a3 and I've spent so much time researching how to properly do detailing and money into the proper equipment and I have started doing my entire families vehicles for free to further excel my skills. I am at the point where I want to establish myself as a mobile detail but the only thing holding me back is being able to get a proper van like yourself so I can have everything fully organized.

    I started detailing the same exact way. I wanted my car to look good and went down the rabbit hole. However I still do it only here and there only because I do have a very well paying job, but atleast I know that I have something to fall back on. As of right now, it's more of a hobby I get pocket money for.

      People thought I was crazy leaving my last career to start this. The money couldn't keep me doing something I wasn't passionate about. Good luck , if this is something you want to do make sure you are all in and love it, if not you will want to quit as soon as It get tough.

      @@DETAILSofficial yes, I hear ya. I do love it, but it is questionable if I would like to do it as a job ya know. I think it best suits me as a hobby and side gig thing for now.

    Same here. I watched a video if auto detailing , literally got obbessed and bought all of the essentials equipment and detailed my car and just fell in love with it and stared charging from the first car and literally enjoy both the work and money. 1 can make 50 to 75 an hour or even flat 100 an HR by doing an Exterior was and buff.

    Hey Joel, Aquafina water has calcium and fluoride in the ingredients. This makes your mouth dry and isn’t good for your body. Consider drinking spring water with no added ingredients. (Arrow head). Always check the ingredients even on distilled water and alkaline water. I’m a huge fan you and love your content. I’m a window cleaner but enjoy watching how you conduct yourself and your mindset.

    What are the pros of getting your car polished? Does it remove swirls?

    • @DETAILSofficial
      @DETAILSofficial  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Polishing refines the clearcoat and cuts down the damaged (swirled) areas to expose the layer beneath the damage, this restores shine, clarity and depth of paint saturation and color.

    Do you have any help at all or you do everything on your own? I ask because I find myself in a similar situation. Do I continue to grow and take on more work and have to hire or just keep it more exclusive and do only what I can handle and get the premium for having me be the one doing it.
