    Great video. I just picked up a pair while in store without doing any research because of the sale and after watching your video I'm excited to install them this week.

    Thanks for the review . I’m going to pick up a box at Costco. U should water seal them with a clear coat so water won’t mess with the electrical stuff

    • @housestuff
      @housestuff  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They're a sealed unit, but yea maybe some silicone around the edge of the box. Mine are recessed back under the gutters, so I wasn't super worried about it

    If you set them at a certain (default) color and turn the switch off, do you know if they'll go back to that same color when you turn the switch back on or do you have to control them via the app all the time?
    I had planned on replacing some string lights with these in my gazebo and don't want them on a timer/schedule... I just want to be able to turn the switch on and they work. Then, if I want to, use the app to change the color.
    Your review was great, BTW!

    I need to know, did you install more junction boxes to the brick wall where there are no junction boxes? I could install one Sconce light in place of my outside light because of its junction box. That works be easy but, to my question?

    Unfortunately, they do get disconnected from wifi consistently no matter what your wifi coverage is. that frustrate a lot of people including me. For the last two nights one of them would go offline and scheduling functionality would stop working. These are not lights when you configure and forget unfortunately. But I wonder about your honest opinion now that you have used them for more than a month? are you having issues?
    Otherwise they are great looking lights, I just wish they would have higher quality wifi module or internal mechanism to keep schedule in.

    • @housestuff
      @housestuff  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I have had a few issues with scheduling. Mine were mostly because I put mine along the whole stretch of the outside of the house, and the wifi signal wouldn't reach. I actually went and bought a wifi 6 mesh system to create a much larger network for them to connect to and they have done better

    • @maratik999
      @maratik999 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, mine would disconnect as well. You mentioned updating to Wi-Fi mesh 6 helped? My mesh is probably due for an update anyways since it’s 4ish years old. Thanks for sharing.

    • @housestuff
      @housestuff  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@maratik999 I still have the occasional signal drop out. For instance, it's 3:30 in the afternoon here, and two of the sconces are on lol

    • @maratik999
      @maratik999 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@housestuff yeah, i am using mine as an on/off scone. i do like the look of them and at the sale price from costco, its not the worst. Atomi customer service acknowledged the issue and are sending two replacement lights. Although i have a suspicion the wifi will have similar results. I believe they have a weak wifi antenna. I installed atomi outdoor string lights, also from costco, and wifi on those is strong with zero drops thus far.

    Thanks for this review. Very helpful. Do you know if you can just use them as regular on off lights if you don’t have wi fi? I’m assuming WiFi is so you can do all the cool colors. We are using in a boathouse that is about 170 feet from our router. Any insight would be great

    • @housestuff
      @housestuff  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yea they can be wired straight to a switch just like any other sconce. Initial setup I think could be done with just a phone network, or just skip the setup, but they will be default set to a white light instead of the warm light unless you can get in the app and change them

  • @jcjohnstone8975
    @jcjohnstone8975 ปีที่แล้ว

    It looks like you installed them on brick. It would have been nice to have showed how. At least a brief overview of running the wires through the brick etc. I'm guessing you already had lights installed and just replaced them with these

    • @housestuff
      @housestuff  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes there were already sconces on the left side. The right side is regular siding with a brick facade on the outside of it, so cutting those was just like installing into siding

    Nice video glad I came across your channel. I just bought a these at Costco. My concern is if the scone light are bright enough for using it as a porch light by the front door or will it be too dark to see when using your key to open the door. I’m in the midst of getting siding soon on my house and bought these to place one or two as porch lights at the front door and the other two over by the garage. Please let me know your thoughts and opinion. Thanks 👊🏼
