I had a Ring Spot light cam that I purchased at Lowes about 14 months ago. Like yours it went offline. There was power at the junction box however camera would not power up to even reset it. I called Ring and they said to ship the old unit to them and they shipped me a Spot light Cam Plus with the hardwire kit. Excellent customer service!!
Was ready to pull the trigger on the Pro after watching your review. The many positive remarks to your update about Rings excellent customer service was good to see but the failure rate says it's not a good investment. Excellent customer service will never make up for a bad product. Thanks for your video 👍
Nice update on your Ring Pro setup. Like how you let your viewers be aware of possible failures in the equipment you are testing, reviewing & ultimately using!
Thanks for posting this. I have the same camera in white. Mine also failed after about a month of use. Also called Ring support and they are sending me a replacement. Good to see I'm not the only one who has had this issue.
Regardless if you hate ring or Amazon. It really doesn't matter. This is how a company should respond when their product fails. I have ring products all the way down to the monitored alarm system and my ring doorbell failed. I'm a network administrator so I'm no stranger to technology and the fact that they will most certainly fail. I called their customer support when my doorbell failed and sent me a replacement. I don't care what product you use. If it works for your scenario then use it but if the company doesn't stand behind their product like ring then think twice about using them long term.
A quick tip from my own experience. I've been using Ring Spotlight camera for years. When I first had them, my internet connection will drop out overnight. The first thing I did there was reset my internet, then went back to try and connect to the camera. After 1 - 2 failed attempts, I'll try to reset the camera, then the camera will just become unresponsive. Ring replaced the camera, same thing happened again, and again. I then realise the best thing to do is to not force reset the cameras via the physical button when your ring camera drops off the WIFI, or if your home internet had to be restarted. The best thing to do is wait till internet is back on, then from your app, try to connect to it, even if it means trying 10+ times, because the ring camera will eventually reconnect. Force resetting it will brick the camera and Ring was never aware of issue like that.
Sorry to hear of your problem. The Pro did look a lot cheaper than the original. I have had some glitches with my three Ring cameras, but Ring usually emails the problem and quick fixes. In the long run, I still like my Ring floodlight, original doorbell Pro and spotlight with solar panel. My Ring cameras are as old as your original floodlight because I bought mine about the same time as you. I only had one problem with my spotlight and solar power, but it was -14 below 0 and I had to manually charge the battery, but that was two winters ago and no problem since. Keep us posted on your replacement floodlight Pro. Don from Milwaukee
I’ve been having this issue ever since I got my ring floodlight cam. The easiest way to describe my experience with the ring floodlight cam it works whenever it wants to. I got a hold of the ring customer service technician on the phone and even that man did not have an idea of why my system was not working. My foot white is the all metal black
Bummer! It had a short life. I'm glad you did troubleshoot it. Checked for moisture, burning smell, electrical shorts. Sometimes the control board just dies. At least Ring will replace the camera promptly. You know the old joke "Made on a Monday" could be true. Thanks for the update and for keeping good records of what you do!
That’s so crazy! Mine went off-line at the same time. I was able to reset mine, however. And when I did reset it and got it online again, it processed a new software update.
You have too much patience, pare! Ring should have you on their payroll for the time and effort you put in to troubleshooting their 'lemon'. Anyhow, thank you for the update.
Wow! Thanks for the video. I just had my Floodlight Cam Wired Pro installed and when the power was turned back on after install, the camera worked perfectly, including the night vision. But the floodlights won't turn on at all. I was so bummed. Going to contact Ring asap. We have other Ring products and so far this is the only one we had an issue with. Hopefully we can get this taken care of soon. Thanks again.
Oh man that sucks, I also had to call Ring cuz my Doorbell pro is having issues, but the good thing is that they’re sending me the Ring Pro 2 as a replacement, so I’m happy about it, thank you for the review videos and comparisons bro 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I don't understand the big deal that some people are commenting. As long as the company does what it supposed to do in providing a replacement as they should. EVERYTHING can malfunction. CS is what makes it all okay in the end. Bad customer service, it doesn't matter if the product is good or not.
Some companies that build products that connect directly to the electrical system ensure that they are very robust products that can handle the kind of things that occur on a powerline. They also recognize the high cost involved with replacing certain devices. If you had to hire someone to come over and do this change out potentially twice that might be hundreds of dollars. Leviton for example is very good at building powerline products that work for many many years without issue.
Good Video. I had the same problem this morning. I have 4 Floodlight Wire Pros and 1 of the 4 stopped working. No light and No Camera. I checked the power and connection was ok. I put another floodlight in parallel to check connection and it work. Hard reset did not work. Other cameras had no issue. I am calling customer support. Purchased late July, 2021 and having issue Sept. 25. 2021 12:28 am.
Last week I had both a ring pro doorbell and a Spotlight Cam go off line within a few days of each other. However mine were not bricked like yours... just need to tell it to change the wifi, and it re-connected.
Wow what a piece of junk! I think there was a lot of cost cutting on these newer ring cams. The first gens are so much better made and like you said, made of metal!
When mine original model died, apparently due to a firmware failure (could have been updating when the switch was turned off. Will never know for sure), the main lights would still come on but the main unit won't respond to anything and wouldn't reset. They might have changed the wiring a bit on the new Pro model though, so that the lights don't' work independently. Or it might have been the transformer, not the firmware. Mine was a few months past warranty so they wouldn't replace it, wouldn't send me the firmware to try to flash via USB (there is a micro usb port at the top under the weather seal) and wouldn't sell me parts or a referb main unit so I had to throw the entire thing away even though. Huge waste. They really should have a flash back, like motherboards, so that a firmware update can't brick it. Either that or they need to tell you that you should not hook it up to an outlet with a switch as anyone in your house could hit it on purpose or even unintentially and that will ruin it if it happened to be doing an update at that moment. Oh, and all the thumbs up to the WAGO's. Love them, especially for things like you do where you could be swapping things.
Exactly the same thing here! Had my floodlight camera installed (by a professional) 3 weeks ago. Floodlights died after two weeks and now the whole unit is dead.
I had the old floodlight which ring swapped and now the replacement is having problems with the rssi numbers being high.cameras in same spot 5 foot away from router.there now swapping this pro for new one to see if it’s faulty.I think the pro floodlight is not as good as older version
So wild. I just got my first ring floodlight cam today. Set it up. Night time hit, and the light would not stop from turning on and off. Called ring, tried to troubleshoot over phone. And it totally died just like this while on the phone with them. So disappointed. Not sure how it’s possible.
Not sure why you had to remove unit and plug it in to mains circuit. Had you just tested voltage at installation point you would have known that power was adequate.
I still have to unscrew the unit from the wall anyways... and I feel better testing it indoors instead of me trying to test voltage while I'm 10 feet off the ground.
Hi All, just experienced the same problem. I installed the Floodlight Cam Wired Pro on 6/28 in anticipation of a long trip. Everything worked well and we left on 7/23. The camera died 5 days later, on 7/28, and we didn't get back until 8/8. How frustrating. However, I called Customer Service and within a few minutes, we got it back on.....by turning power off for 60 seconds. So now, I'll install a smart switch so I can power cycle remotely if needed. Good luck to you all.
I like most ring products, esp the ring doorbells, but not the floodlight. I am using the far cheaper and arugably more robust Rreslicam Security Floodlight.
While I know they will stand by the product and offer you a replacement, there is a cost associated with replacing a hardwired unit like this. Most DIY’ers probably don’t mind getting up on a ladder and doing some light electrical work but I’m sure there are many who hired an electrician for one reason or another. They will not recoup the cost of hiring the electrician to come out (again) and replace the defective unit. Reliability for hardwired units should be a top priority.
if the hard reset is right there anyone can press it but I guess the camera will be recording them doing it unless they can come behind it somehow. Looks like the classic is the best one.
So I bought three of the new Ring Floodlight Wired Pro from your last video. Having an issue it doesn’t record anymore when people come into frame. Thoughts?
I had a 30% failure rate with my Ring system. Their customer service is GREAT, but they have a serious quality control issue. I also have a issue of getting live feed during a doorbell ring activation
So this just happened to me as well. I received the replacement today and wired it up. The spotlights came on and then went off. That’s it. I can’t get it into set up mode.
Hi does colour have any issue on the functionality of the flood light camera? I read on the net black attracts heat therefore it’s better to get a white , also white Serves as a good deterrent. I
Why can't Ring send replacement equipment in 2-3 days? it took a week and a half to get my replacement camera,. knowing we use their products for security, you would think they would send a replacement fast but NOOOOO they don't care. BIG Fail Amazon/Ring can you put out a video for affordable switches and locks that work with the RIng Eco system. Thanks for the updates and product reviews.
I am not new with technology and have been following their product lines. But I can feel there is something off since Amazon bought ring. My flood light can't figure out when is Dusk and Dawn. It's crazy that seems like the old regular flood light without wifi is more reliable than this with so called new technology. Old traditional flood light partnered with driveway sensor is the most reliable approach. And you don't need to get a subscription. I am making this review based from more than 5 yrs with Ring.
I bought 2 maximus Kuna floodlight cameras both have failed in 3 months time. The LED light still works but the Bluetooth connectivity failed on both which makes the camera not function (camera offline) so disappointed. Also their customerservice is not that great. Probably going to consider the Eufy 2k floodlight camera. What are your thoughts?
Funny thing that my Maximus is actually still installed but it hasn't been working for more 1-2 years now.. I do need to remove it and replace it with the Eufy or Ring..
We have three Ring Plus cameras and one pro, all three plus cameras have failed in less than a year, they have been replaced, but we are stuck with the pro which flickers the lights on occasion and is out of warranty. We may be unlucky and have a bad batch, we are moving to a different manufacturer.
All 3 of my Ring cameras stopped working. I've had them for years. We had problems in the past too and had to have one replaced. Do you think it's better to just go with a wired system?
I just bought 2 for my house after I got broke in had 2 pistols stolen waiting on company set up my wifi..I wished I'd bought this years ago the loss of the fire arms was a hard hard hit vs price of the 2 flood light cameras
Oh no, I have the same one. My door bell only lasted 3 weeks. Then they sent me a new one and the screws were super tight on the back that I stripped one of them get it loose. 😥
Got mine 2021. Called them today and they said out of warranty and gave me a discount code instead. I have Nest cameras too and have found Nest cameras last longer than Ring.
My 3 Floodlight Cam Pros all stopped working and wouldn't complete setup, no matter how many times I tried. I tried contacting Ring, but gave up waiting for a rep. Oddly, about 3 weeks later (yes, I was being that lazy) they all started working again.
I'm still waiting for mine, apparently they are having stock issue and won't ship out anything until early July... Do you think they have found out some quality issue in their early production (including yours). I wonder when will you receive your replacement!? All the best for you and me 🤣🤣🤣
My floodlights trigger (one on each back corner of the house) even when there is no motion detected. So frustrating. Adjusted all settings possible (motion rage, sensitivity at lowest setting), light range minimal and some zones totally off ). Nothing makes a difference and it triggers about every 5-10 minutes at night. Finally just turned the flood light feature entirely off for both cameras and one still even comes on even with that setting totally deactivated. Any thoughts??? Moving wifi booster closer to the patio in hopes it is a connectivity issue. Have a third to put on front of house but holding off.
Mine just started to come on without any visible motion triggers. Then when I try to turn it off in the app, it will turn on again and won't stay off...
I like these kinds of updates about a product if it ever stops working or goes bad etc. Doesn't get talked about enough thanks for sharing.
You are welcome.
You kept your old one smart move! I'm keeping all my old ones. Thanks, for your honesty.
You bet!
Thanks 👍
Thanks for posting this. I have the same camera in white. Mine also failed after about a month of use. Also called Ring support and they are sending me a replacement. Good to see I'm not the only one who has had this issue.
Good to know, after your last video I was hesitant but now defo will wait. Tnx 👍
No problem 👍
Sometimes these things just die for no reason. Glad Ring took care of you.👍👍
Ring's customer service is pretty good.
There is always a reason, in this case it was an internal failure of parts or software issue.
My first gen ring flood cams are going strong after 4 years.
I know the original one just works...
I came to the comment section to say just that. One in front and One in the back, and both been going 4 years.
@@c.jenn01 I replaced my two flood lights in the back yard with the ring ones and they are flawless.
I bought two and the lens fell off after two years on both. Short life span…
Thanks for this, just called ring and they are sending two replacement cameras even with the warranty being expired
Thanks for getting your update out to us so quickly. Totally appreciate your diligence and dedication, Brother! 🤙🏼🤙🏼
My pleasure!!

Purchase mines before your review and it’s still working fine. Sometimes a bad one slips through the cracks
That's good to hear. I'm hoping it is a one off deal...
Same thing just happened to ours. 45 minutes on the phone with CS and a new replacement is on it's way. Thanks for the video.
That sucks…sorry to hear that:(
No prob.. Ring made it right with a quick replacement.
Sorry to hear of your problem. The Pro did look a lot cheaper than the original. I have had some glitches with my three Ring cameras, but Ring usually emails the problem and quick fixes. Thanks Don for your update too...and will keep you all updated on this Floodlight Pro...
Awesome video sharing your troubleshooting experience with failed Ring product.
Thanks.
Thanks for the tip on the wire connectors. I hate wire nuts and these look to be a modern replacement.
Wagos are pretty good.
I’ve been having this issue ever since I got my ring floodlight cam. The easiest way to describe my experience with the ring floodlight cam it works whenever it wants to. Thank you for the updated video.

Just hooked mine up about a week ago. I really like the camera, praying I don't run across the same issue.
You should be fine.. I think this is a one off deal on what happened to mine.

Ring's customer service has always been excellent in my experience.
Exactly. It seems as some refuse to accept that electronics can fail.
It can be a nuisance when you have to keep uninstalling/reinstalling Cameras
Some companies that build products that connect directly to the electrical system ensure that they are very robust products that can handle the kind of things that occur on a powerline. It’s been great for me!!! Love it!!!
Great to hear!
Well, I was never planning to buy Ring because I don’t want to pay a monthly subscription. This video has helped remind me not to buy Ring. Thanks. 👍🏻
Bro., that thumbnail 😂 🏆 🏅
Last week I had both a ring pro doorbell and a Spotlight Cam go off line within a few days of each other. However mine were not bricked like yours... just need to tell it to change the wifi, and it re-connected.
no more ring for me. I had switch from ring to Eufy. I am happy. I have Eufy, and works great and it is free recording..... and 24/7 recording.
Looks like I’ll be buying the Eufy Spotlight or the original Ring spotlight you have then 🤙🏾
Eufy
I think in all fairness Iv had problems with Ring products too and the customer service at Ring is very good , replacements are sent very quickly .
I agree. Their customer service is pretty good.
Wow what a piece of junk! I think there was a lot of cost cutting on these newer ring cams. The first gens are so much better made and like you said, made of metal!
I'm having the exact same issue. I wish I saw this before calling an electrician that charged me $300 lol without resolving the issue

Oh, and all the thumbs up to the WAGO's. Love them, especially for things like you do where you could be swapping things.
It might be the transformer is it was not a firmware update error...thanks for sharing your experience and yes I'm a Wago convert now.
I've had two floodlight cams replaced in the last year, led lights went out in both. Replaced for free, except for my time.
HEADS UP! great, but poc turned GREEN 😂. a forum said whack it several times on LEFT side w/ a broom handle. Worked. 2 yrs great
i dont know what is going on with ring products recently. two of my ring chime pro gen 1 just stopped working. i need to contact ring tomorrow.
Oh my ! And I just bought and installed my Ring Pro-i hope I don't have any issues🤘
I've had mine for nearly 2 years now, no issues whatsoever, it rains and thunders here every week
Exactly the same thing here! Had my floodlight camera installed (by a professional) 3 weeks ago. Floodlights died after two weeks and now the whole unit is dead.
Thanks for the videos. I’m watching a couple of them so I was wondering what do you think the life expectancy of a ring camera is ??thanks.
I had the old floodlight which ring swapped and now the replacement is having problems with the rssi numbers being high.cameras in same spot 5 foot away from router.there now swapping this pro for new one to see if it’s faulty.I think the pro floodlight is not as good as older version

Too bad a failure. But thanks for the update and soon another update.
No problem 👍
I have exactly the same problem now haven’t tried hard reset yet but mines about 2 years old or more so basically got to buy a new one
I like most ring products, esp the ring doorbells, but not the floodlight. I am using the far cheaper and arugably more robust Rreslicam Security Floodlight.
Interesting video
Dang. I just ordered two of these. Hopefully they work 🤷🏻♂️
They should work... I think this was a one off issue.
i love your voice & content + u r very handsome - all man - blessings to u & your fam
At the end of video 5:06 can you make out 5:06 license plate ? Or are you blurring it out yourself? Can you see license plate numbers?
While I know they will stand by the product and offer you a replacement, there is a cost associated with replacing a hardwired unit like this.
They should send you a replacement because you have the ring protect plus
They are sending me one.
Thank you very much; I’ll stop purchasing it in the time being.
You are welcome.
BIG Fail Amazon/Ring
can you put out a video for affordable switches and locks that work with the RIng Eco system.
Thanks for the updates and product reviews.
Same problem with my floodlight cam & my wired spotlight cam today! SMH. Went offline and died. Hard reset didn’t work for me either.. 4/13/23
Any idea why the flood pro only has the old People only mode and not the newer Smart Alerts like my Gen 1 flood does
As far as I know, they have the same people mode... the pro has the 3D detection added...but everything else are the same.
Good video, thanks LH. Now, what would you recommend the Pro or the Plus?
I am not new with technology and have been following their product lines. But I can feel there is something off since Amazon bought ring. My flood light can't figure out when is Dusk and Dawn. All 3 of my Ring cameras stopped working. I've had them for years. We had problems in the past too and had to have one replaced. Do you think it's better to just go with a wired system?
Definitely wired is more secure
My Floodlight cam original wirks great
SOUND input more powerful than Ring Doorbell.
I just bought 2 for my house after I got broke in had 2 pistols stolen waiting on company set up my wifi..I wished I'd bought this years ago the loss of the fire arms was a hard hard hit vs price of the 2 flood light cameras
Sorry to hear that. They are now going to think twice trying that again.
Oh no, I have the same one. My door bell only lasted 3 weeks. Then they sent me a new one and the screws were super tight on the back that I stripped one of them get it loose. 😥
Do you recommend the Floodlight Pro for my backyard entrance??
same here. suddenly it stop
I have a pro spotlight cam. Lights come on but it will not reset. Held the button for over a minute.
So did your replacement arrive and is it working ok? I’ve just ordered one today as they have only become available in Europe.
I’d be willing to bet that it’s a failed power supply inside the ring base
I think it might be if it is not a software issue.
Oddly, about 3 weeks later (yes, I was being that lazy) they all started working again.
how often would you have to do a hard reset from the fixture itself, have you ever had to do a hard reset with the plus version ?
I'm still waiting for mine, apparently they are having stock issue and won't ship out anything until early July... Do you think they have found out some quality issue in their early production (including yours). I wonder when will you receive your replacement!? All the best for you and me 🤣🤣🤣
Interesting I wonder why it died hopefully this is a one off
Did Ring actually do a failure analysis on that broken unit you returned to them?
I was planning on purchase these. Let me know what you find out in comparison with the Plus.
That’s why I bought extended warranty on mine at Best Buy
Hi I have a question can the volume for the panic sound be adjusted? Thank you
Did you have to send the one that stopped working back ?
Has there been any updates on if the issues have been fixed as of today's date?
i have 5 of the pro since 1 year an no problem.....
R.I.P. - the latest version is not always the best.
my original Flood Cam is 👍 👍
Mine just started to come on without any visible motion triggers. Then when I try to turn it off in the app, it will turn on again and won't stay off...
At least yours lasted almost a month. Mine only lasted about 12 hours and is completely dead.
