Another awesome video, This is the way cotton was done in North Carolina For years and still is But when it started it was a A big improvement from the way that used to done by it Picking It loose into big wagons and hauling it to the gin. Now the round balers are more common, but now living in Illinois I don't see this much LOL
Probably miscounted rows or didn’t count at all. But it’s also possible that the boll buggy fell behind and he estimated the number of rows to get back to the end with a full basket. I dunno. Doesn’t look like good enough cotton to overtake the boll buggy, though.
Having run a module builder.... There isn't a more repetitive job😢. Ran with four, 4 row pickers and ran the 2 levers all day long. Pick it up and clear module just built with the tailgate. Trust me you learn the lesson only once lol. Here in SE GA a few run modules, most have baler pickers.
There are 2 types of machinery for cotton picking. A cotton picker and a cotton stripper. With a picker you can harvest the same field multiple times but in many places weather doesn΄t let you harvest many times so they use a stripper . picker = partially picking /// Stripper = leave nothing behind
Some buggys have a divider so you can get 2 striper dumps in it and some have chains in them you can get on average 7 striper loads in one module you can get up 2 9 is what iv gotten in one I haven't ran a striper so I can't answer why he split that row
In West Texas where much of US cotton is grown the Module is almost gone because of the labor shortage. No need for the special truck to take cotton to the gin. Two or three operators can harvest with a S690 day and night with no wind issues.
@@robertreznik9330 Not agreeing or disagreeing. But here in eastern NM and far west Tx, modules are still the norm. The module trucks go by my house...
@@louispaparella5766 I should have said going fast and Module equipment is hard to sell. In the Northern Panhandle balers are delivering the vast majority to the gins.
@@robertreznik9330 True that. Is there anybody besides JD producing self propelled stripper/balers for the US market? If not, machine costs will remain high

Dues this cotton picker have fingers or bats and brushes there is a defunct I run one for 18yers it had bats and brushes it was a CASE IH. It's called a cotton stripper not a picker
Back in my part of the country. Kiowa county! Great video Mike.
Great presentation and interesting subject . Very satisfying camera work. I appreciate your labor and commitment to agriculture in America.
I'm originally from Arizona, so I grew up seeing a lot of cotton fields. It's good to see the different ways of harvesting it. Appreciate it Mike!!😁

Looks to me like it's picking pretty clean, but then I don't have any experience with cotton either. Thanks for the video Mike!
Nice what drone do you have!😀👍
Great video Mike. Good to see a "Versatile" blend of crops on your channel!
Cool older cotton striper and 8000 series tractors thanks for the content😀
In the old times (1970's) people had to jump down the cotton in the trailor going to the cotton Gin, a super bummer job as all things cotton are.😵💫
I was one of those people stomping cotton!

Like that you continue to release new videos during winter months
And I have a lot of content from last year to edit yet.
Interesting to see the different ways of cottonharvest.
Thanks a lot for the video! 😊👍🏻

Great awesome video mike, I remember this style of cotton harvesting, the old way

They leave the rows of cotton for Crop or Insurance adjustments
Nope that's not a thing.
Yes I like watching Mike less videos on TH-cam. From the imperial co commiefornia. Happy new year's.

Aqui no Brasil é muito diferente essa cultura de algodão. Até o espaçamento ali é diferente, mas é bonito também. 👍🤝👊
Not counting the two tractors the rest of the equipment is worth the yearly lease payment on the baler.
There are days that baskest strippers don't run and round balers do because it's yoo windy

Very good video, greetings Johan
This is in my home town
I've heard the stripper/balers are extremely expensive, $850k. Module building may be around for awhile

Looks like he miss counted his rows and left 8-10 rows but has a 6 row header. So just taking 4-5 rows on each of 2 passes.
I'm pretty sure I saw you today at 2022 keystone farm show.
You should have said something

the Operator had a row of shame so he just divided the seven rows so not just taking one row

It has bats and brushes
The press on the builder is called a tramper.
This was off 62 highway
I farm not to far from there.
Seems like there is a lot of waste to the cotton harvesting process.
There is. It's a picker. I can get a stripper and get more cotton that it leaves behind
With it if it sat right. Long story short.
