- Cotton Harvest 2023 near Beasley Texas
In this video I am out in a field of cotton near Beasley Texas as the farm harvests their 2023 cotton crop. I shot this video in August 2023 as this family operation was picking cotton and building modules of cotton that will later be picked up in the field and hauled away for processing.
The equipment in the video is a John Deere 9996 cotton picker. Running beside the picker and hauling the cotton from the picker to the module builder is the farms John Deere 4960 tractor.
In this video I am able to show the entire process in the field with drone, on ground and inside cab footage.

I like your videos
Whoever set that picker did a phenomenal job. She picking clean. No need to go back and scrap any leftovers (second picking,)
Good video.
Picking cotton sure has changed since the 18th & 19th century
Which one gets more $$$/acre, a clean picker or a dirty stripper?
yeah shure has
Hi Mike! Another in a long string of "good 'uns" which we always enjoy! You consider this "old" technology (with the newer round balers now available) but sure beats hand picking and dragging bags by main! Which practices, btw are still being used on a few small-scale organic production. But, by all means, keep the videos coming~~~we'll watch whatever you post at this point........
Awesome Video mike......It is cool to see this because i have never been futher south than Ainsworth NE
Excellent video 👍
👍👍
Another great cotton harvest video😉👍 I could watch the module builder all day long😁👍
Great video Mike. Appreciate your efforts.
I like Mike less videos on TH-cam from the imperial county California 👍 2024🎉
👍✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️
Enjoyed Your Video
Really nice, Mike. For a few moments there, I thought I could actually smell it.
That was interesting. Cool stuff Mike!
Great video. I always learn something new watching your videos.
Also…. I’m blaming you for this crappy no snow winter we’re having. Always the fault of the guy that bought the new sled. 👍🏻😂
I figured buying a new sled was going to make it a low snow winter. I'm really anxious to ride my new Catalyst.
You actuality Like Snow ??? you should have come here last year because we got almost 10 feet and this year we have over a foot
Great video once again Mike. Happy New Year to you & family.
Out right mad.😉🙃🤨
😎😎
Never noticed that the compactor container has no bottom, are all of them like that?
Yow Mike, thanks for another excellent video.
That basket type of cotton picker looks like it push, strip and blow another 6 rows making it a 12 rower for faster production, maybe even a 18 row machine.
I like to think big.
Whada you think-?
In theory yes but I'm sure there is a reason why they don't make them that big. Maybe the cotton would never blow that far through the tubes?
Was that Bohacek's field? We farm in the Beasley and Rosenberg area.
Man if they ever retire the module system for cotton harvesting i'm sure i could repurpose one for making haylage or silage modules
I’ve seen a good bit of people use them for that. Seems to work great for them.
I wonder what would happen if the cylinder compressing the cotton blew a hose and sprayed the cotton with oil...would the cotton be discarded or could it be cleaned..thanks for the video Mike
Good Question but I'd guess the cotton would soak up the oil and be no good. I'm sure its happened before and maybe someone who had it happen will see this and comment.
How many inch row spacings are the rows
I believe these were 30's
Farmhand Mike are saying John Deere is a basket case lol
Not exactly,
What is that blower for on the front of the buggy?
Not sure and was wondering that myself. Of course I didn't notice it while I was filming but did when I was editing.
This video was so uplifting, it really made my day.
