  • How to install a window AC unit. In this video I show you how to install a window air conditioning unit in a side to side horizontal sliding window step by step. This window A/C install is also a little special because we are renting and the landlord doesn't want us drilling any holes or putting in screws. While I install the air conditioner in our vinyl window, I also go over many commonly asked questions regarding these window units and how they are supposed to be installed. Here are amazon links for the products I mentioned while doing the installation:

    I was hoping to see this installed in a way that is still secure and would be as safe as possible from burglars, but this seems very insecure, they could just push the unit inside. Was a good video though, thank you.

    Thanks, great video! I have been in my apartment for 8+ yrs and never bothered with AC as I'm at the cottage a lot I don't need AC too often. This yr it's hot in May already, so I grabbed an old unit from my folks' basement. I put it in the back door window and it fit almost perfectly instantly! Just a few little gaps so I duct taped them (can get the foam later if needed). I do need to use an extension cord tho....

      @@WordofAdviceTV Thank you so much. If replacing the fan motor succeeds, I will owe you a debt of gratitude for your instructions. 2:23 You got a lot of good ideas, but I bet you never tried your magnet advice. All screen frames that I know of are made of extruded aluminum, i.e. non-magnetic. I'll use the wood frame inside the window idea, taken from the slide of the "vertical" AC.

      Well at least the video made you laugh. 😄 Let me explain why the security is so lax. Where we live here in Hawaii, breaking into the house through this air conditioner window would be far more difficult than any other window we always keep open. So I really see no point in making it extra secure.

    • @brelanarchy8023
      @brelanarchy8023 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @WordofAdviceTV I live in a peaceful neighborhood, too, but burglars drive cars. Burglars typically target "peaceful" neighborhoods. Anyway, I think I'm going portable AC. The window for the room I want to cool is on the front of my house on the second floor. I don't want to drill holes in the stucco and install a shelf for something I really only need for 2 months out of the year. The plexi glass would not have been a problem for the second floor, but the shelf was really the deal-breaker for me. Best of luck.
