I truly think lowering the car is a waste of money for me. I did lower my z but I am going back to stock suspension. After spending over 1k in suspension parts, I came to the conclusion that if you are not tracking the car, all the suspension mods are not really needed for this car. I, however, will improve the shocks.
U should preface this video , what you will have to do if lowered with big rims. Absolutely nothing needs to be rolled with stock fitment unless slammed. Normal lowering springs require one thing: installation.
I did lower the car on the Nismo S-tune system and it's a very mild drop but I will scape on some speed bumps. I do feel like it was a good modification because the spring rates on the early cars were terrible, car going over speed bumps sideways just look silly IMO. If I had a car with the updated suspension I probably wouldn't have lowered it.
@@AnthonyJ350 yes, that's always an option, the shocks/strut were revised as well and part of the whole setup was I wanted all new components. When looking at all the new stuff I realized it would be quite expensive, I don't know if the aftermarket adjusted valving on the shocks/struts either as they aren't advertised as such. When looking around I ran into a local guy selling the S-tune kit BNIB for a really good price so I had to jump on it. I trusted that Nismo did their homework on it and they were matched appropriately.

Mainstream lowering is typically over rated ,I keep my 350 relatively stock (bumpers and such of course changed )interior sexy asf and ride night and suspension altered but ride higher definitely as close to stock as possible … would love to look into raised 350’s for shii and giggles tho
I'm not sure I bought my 350Z already lowered but it's pretty much it was lowered from factory. In the front I can fit one finger between the fender and tire. 2 on the back
19" BBS LM bright sil and there's 2 different sets of tires on it from the previous owners city racing in the front and salium in the back. Tires size are 255/35 19ZR
Now I dropped My Z and did it with the TEIN Street Basis Z all while knowing I would have to correct camber and toe with the height I wanted to drop it. (which I did) (Thanks Z1 Motorsports!) I wanted looks overall and bought this setup because it has been said it can be close to Stock feel and I can get that Low Look I was after. Well, I was very pleasantly surprised I got both. I love the feel of spirited driving and enhanced cornering I get from the setup and the daily driving is fun too. Anthony if you have any bros with the street basis Z setup give it a try..who knows! Great Post I watch all your 350 stuff!
I lowered my Rx7 with some coilovers. It handles and looks great but was stiff and not very enjoyable to drive around town. I eventually put my stock suspensions back on. It’s night and day difference. I actually enjoy driving the car now lol plus I have a 4 inch downpipe so I didn’t want it to get damaged.
Thanks for sharing! If you leave the stock springs and put Bilstein shocks in, you'll have a car that can handle and conform to imperfections in the road.
I concur, function over form anyway. Your $800 coilovers ride very stiff and have aggressive drops; pretty stupid to drag your car across the ground. Rolled fenders mean you will eventually get rust. If you want to keep the stock height, ride way better than stock in terms of comfort and get the performance of a coilover there is a solution. I own it and I'm speaking from experience. KW v3's give you 0.4" to 1.5" drop. So under half an inch drop, you will not drag or scrap on anything. Please see my channel and video of my in mint condition Motordyne Shockwave exhaust if you want proof. Not many coilovers give you both better ride in comfort and ride in performance than OEM. KW does though with many testimonials on the web to back it up. Plus they come with a lifetime warranty.
Hey Anthony I just picked up a clean 2008 bone stock 350z and I’m trying to “preserve it” and take care of it like how you do yours. I’d love to keep my stock suspension but have flush wheel fitment. What wheels do you have? And what is the size? Hopefully you’re reading this comment in youtube studio and don’t miss it 😂
I didn't want to slam my PPW 08 so I went with Bilstien B12 kit.My 4 comers are rolled already trying to get 255f/275r under there soon.Z is great stock height but a little low is needed IMO.Nice vid and Z!
Yeah I am in the same park that you shouldn't mess with the ride height of vehicles. Speically if you have a daily driver here in Canada and we get alot of snow, that low ride height is gonna scrap everywhere.
AnthonyJ350...what size tires are you riding on? Purchase my 04 350 roaster July of last year..rides really nice on 19''s. Previous owner had Neo Gen on the front at 245/35/19 and for the back 275/35/19. next day I shopped around for tires and kept the same Nitto Neo Genz brand and size front and back. But i did notice the wearing away, the rear tires inside are down to the steel belts. Not sure maybe he had lowering spring and good thing I had money$$ to spare to replace...tires are not cheap these days. Moving forward Im looking to purchase the Smooth-Line Hardtop soon...and upload video on TH-cam...stay tuned!! Oh btw,... Anthony your 350 is super clean..sits nice
lowered on coilovers, and scraped the shit out my bumper ( no lip). not worth going low on 18's.. edit; the lowered one seems to have decent clearance cause he's running 19's with a nice mild drop. as for yours Anthony, i say it looks good the way it is, perfect height even tho you are riding stock height. the wheel size and tire setup give it that low look.
Htm281 - Thanks! Ya I thought it looked perfectly fine at stock height when I put my wheel and tire package on. The rear is slightly lower because I put Energy Suspension spring mounts in.
I bought my Z already lowered, but the previous owner have calibrated the suspension to it by a racecar driver. Yea it's perfect when the road is good and smooth like ice. BUT! if there is a pothole or something it's bouncing really heavly and just makes it so uncomfortable :(
That's the compromise. You're optimized for a well maintained track, but on the street the car has a hard time conforming and adapting to road surface changes.
I don't have a 350z but I got a 97 Accord EX that's sitting an inch off the ground the rear sits high enough so I won't bottom out when I say high the fender well lines up with the top of the tire the front fenders on the other hand are slightly tucked with the tires a lowerd car looks more aggressive and turn heads I drew so much attention on the road last summer when I was cruising around in my Accord also when I first installed my coilovers I slammed it for a day and you wouldn't believe how much damages was done my flex pipe was ripped I had to weld a new one onto my exhaust pipe the 02 sensor was Crack I had to replace it and my oil pan is dented it was close to cracking the next day I raised it up a little bit after installing a brand new front lip kit not even a week it had scuff marks on it from scaping everywhere I then raised it up again for the second time 15 threads I still scape but not as bad as before my front lip kit has chips and small portion missing lmao I have to buy a new one again I prefer a lowered car looks better in my opinion
AnthonyJ350 No it wasn't driving slam is not for daily driving it should only be for shows now that my car was raised up I still scape but not like before the front lip kit did protect my front bumper from being scuff I will be getting a new one soon though I don't think I have to worry about the back because I don't scape or bottom out my Accord is basically at the perfect ride height not too low or high the lip kit makes it appear lower to the ground if I were to take it off my car wouldn't look that low also one more thing I forgot to mention just like you said in the video the factory smooth ride is gone after I installed my coilovers so my car does ride rough on bumpy roads I'm literally bouncing on bumps
Hi great video. I am looking for new wheels to the Z. I think you did not lower the car but you put bigger wheels so you reduced the gap. What are the sizes of your rims and tyres? I was thinking maybe 275/40 r19 in the rear 245/40 r19 front
So, forgive my ignorance, but are camber arms necessary if I were to do something similar to what you did in the rear to level the car out? I don't want to "slam" or lower my vehicle, but the fact that the rear sits slightly higher than the front does bug me. So in that case, what would you recommend I do to get my car leveled?
Hello , I do not want to lower my Z because I am not careful at times. The stock wheels look so small and theres a big gap between the wheel and the fender. Will increasing the rim size make it look better or will it make it look higher. I want the lowered look but dont want to lower it . What rim size do you have and what are your thoughts?
Hey man great video and explanation 👍🏽 do you happen to have the link or part number to the spring mount that works with an 06 350z? I don’t want to order the wrong one and have to go through the trouble of sending it back. Also, did adding that to the stock suspension stiffen or make any noticeable changes in ride quality or feel?
Im sure youve been asked this many times but what are your wheel and tire sizes i have a staggered set of 19s and would like to run them with my stock height but remove as much wheel gap as possible
hello, i need your help, what do you think would be the maximum possible correct measure that does not affect, or that I have to do anything in the suspension? ... please, according to your experience, help me
Making it sound way more complicated and hard then it really is. My z is pretty low and never rubs, wheels are within stock specs and rides better then the stock suspension did...
You must have new bushings and camber kits in order to make the suspension adjustable to get it back to factory spec. If done properly with the correct valves shocks you could get it to ride pretty good.
Well the only thing thats off is the front camber a bit as its the only thing you need aftermarket to get back to spec. Camber. (Adjustable uca’s). But toes are all able to do with coilovers at all four corners pretty much any low.
@@bfrankz3332 You'll need adjustable rear track and camber arms if you're trying to dial in the suspension at the alignment shop (depending on what you're setting the car up for). But then you can set the car up and save the settings and change it depending if you have a track day or take it to the mountains. www.z1motorsports.com/z1-products/z1-motorsports/z1-motorsports-350z-g35-adjustable-suspension-package-p-12166.html

I truly think lowering the car is a waste of money for me. I did lower my z but I am going back to stock suspension. After spending over 1k in suspension parts, I came to the conclusion that if you are not tracking the car, all the suspension mods are not really needed for this car. I, however, will improve the shocks.
george sanchez You can do the coil spring mount in the rear. I put a poly urethane one in to lower the rear .5 of in inch to help level it out.
Pete Cockcroft - Solarflares What happens with the car level?
U should preface this video , what you will have to do if lowered with big rims. Absolutely nothing needs to be rolled with stock fitment unless slammed. Normal lowering springs require one thing: installation.
Thanks for the feedback
I decided to bag my 350z. The best of both worlds. Lift for driveways. Slammed for parking and the track.
Nice!
Love these 350z videos
Like that 1 inch drop better..
Thanks! Ya I'm cool with people lowering the car, they just have to know what to expect after.
I love your videos. I've been addicted to them
Lots more to come! Have you checked out some other older videos? Lots of theory stuff there.
Couldn't you take OEM springs out of a 2008?
@@AnthonyJ350 yes, that's always an option, the shocks/strut were revised as well and part of the whole setup was I wanted all new components. When looking at all the new stuff I realized it would be quite expensive, I don't know if the aftermarket adjusted valving on the shocks/struts either as they aren't advertised as such. When looking around I ran into a local guy selling the S-tune kit BNIB for a really good price so I had to jump on it. I trusted that Nismo did their homework on it and they were matched appropriately.

I'm probably going to put MOOG springs in my car when I refresh the suspension.
I'm not sure I bought my 350Z already lowered but it's pretty much it was lowered from factory. In the front I can fit one finger between the fender and tire. 2 on the back
Alan Sanchez That's interesting. What wheels and tires are on the car?
19" BBS LM bright sil and there's 2 different sets of tires on it from the previous owners city racing in the front and salium in the back. Tires size are 255/35 19ZR
Very wise, my friend.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for sharing your experience!
The last thing I would ever do is lower my z, I already fear drive ways and deep dips now.
Thanks for sharing!
@@AnthonyJ350 unfortunately they don’t make blistein struts for my model. The most I can get is Kyb...lol I don’t track my car so I guess it’s fine.
@@Hygoog KYB GR2s are pretty good. I had them on my Thunderbird and liked them. Also consider Energy Suspension sway bar bushings.

1 inch lowered 350Zs do look good.
Coilovers the way to go. You can adjust the height if you're too low.
How many miles does a typical set last?
Great vid! So if you would like to change your suspension and keep Stock height, what would you go for?
RickySticky87 I already have new bushings for the sway bars, end links and a rear sway bar upgrade. All it needs now are Bilstein shocks.
Nice! How was the handling after with the Bilstein?
Never lowering my car again had way too many bad experiences with multiple types of vehicles
How much were you lowering the vehicle?
Yeah I am in the same park that you shouldn't mess with the ride height of vehicles. Speically if you have a daily driver here in Canada and we get alot of snow, that low ride height is gonna scrap everywhere.
Plus it frees up the budget to spend money on other suspension components instead.
AnthonyJ350 Yep or different rims or tires. Or any other upgrade for the vehicle.
Not sure maybe he had lowering spring and good thing I had money$$ to spare to replace...tires are not cheap these days. anotherr great video! As a new 350z owner I appreciate all the videos. What lip kits did you guys get for the fronts of your Zs
I run a urethane front lip from Magic Drift.
lowered on coilovers, and scraped the shit out my bumper ( no lip). not worth going low on 18's..
edit; the lowered one seems to have decent clearance cause he's running 19's with a nice mild drop. as for yours Anthony, i say it looks good the way it is, perfect height even tho you are riding stock height. the wheel size and tire setup give it that low look.
It doesn't matter what car, it is always best for the car to go sideways on speed bumps
Couldn't you just go slowly over them instead? Looks kinda funny going sideways on a stock height vehicle.
Ye if it is slow i guess. Always better for the front parts if there is a little impact rather than a big one. less wear :)
Gravecb7 Accord Sooooo is all the extra work and repairs worth the look?
I'm from the UK and have 350z lowered. I have a bodykit on the car, so every time i go through speed humps, it scrapes. I'm looking to raise it back.
Stock springs with Bilstein shocks and Eibach sway bars would be perfect.

hello, i need your help, what do you think would be the maximum possible correct measure that does not affect, or that I have to do anything in the suspension? ... please, according to your experience, help me
Car is pretty low stock so 1 inch is the most I would do. You will still probably have to change some suspension components to correct the alignment.

For sure! Just wanted people who have owned a lowered a car to know what to expect for other modifications and driveability compromise. I like lowered cars, just not a fan of the scraping.

Is it just the bumper or is the exhaust rubbing too?
AnthonyJ350 the exhaust
