    I didn’t pay much attention to history when I was in high school.
    Later, I realized that knowledge of history enriches and enhances you and anything you watch or experience.
    Hindsight.

      You discovered the importance of learning about history in hindsight while basically the whole point in studying history is to avoid making the same mistakes made by others in hindsight.
      Man, how much I love irony. And yes, hindsight is always 20/20.

    • @brenbabe
      @brenbabe ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@mikitz well, I, for one, didn’t like school too well when I was going… and there isn’t a cap on learning, or what age you learn things either…call it irony or whatever, but I call it pretty cool when anybody who wants to know more about history does find time to study it at any age…

    The most famous family feud in American history is obviously the Hatfields and McCoys, but their feud was not the deadliest.
    The most violent and devastating feud in US history took place in Tonto Basin, Arizona between the Graham Family and the Tewksbury Family. These two ranching families engaged in a brutal range war that lasted for 10 years between 1882 and 1892 and is believed to have resulted in the deaths of over 40 people, including nearly all the men in each family plus ranch hands, hired guns, and lawmen.
    It's a fascinating subject that should get more attention.

      Ha! Very well observed😂 I KNEW he hadn't said that cos I'd have noticed immediately - which indeed he didn't - it was just in small letters under his name William III🙂 I think "Italian Cardinal" had been used as an explanation for one of the characters in the Medici v Pazzi Florentine caper😂. In fact, I don't know if you have ever seen Silence of the Lambs, but when the Italian policeman comes to see Dr Lecter in Florence, Lecter notices his name is Inspector Pazzi and describes how his predecessor, the Archbishop, had not just been "strung up" from the tower, but thrown out of the window while being stabbed such that his entire front was sliced open and all his guts fell out when he reached the bottom of the rope.😄😎 No need to explain what then happened to the policeman!

    • @kathyowens4947
      @kathyowens4947 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use to think that too. But it'sa little more complicated. It's not really a hard C or K sound either. It sort of sounds like a hard C or K. But at the same time it also makes kind of a soft G sound. I watched a video by a guy who speaks Latin. It's very difficult to pronounce Cicero for English speakers. The "hard" C is said very subtle and soft. It's hard to explain. You have to hear how he does it.

    Fun fact, it was fairly common in ancient Rome - and apparently afterwards in Itally - to properly name your first son only, then name your following sons, literally, 'Second, Third, Fourth, etc. Additionally, the those sons weren't going to inherit much, if anything, so the military or clergy (after Christianity came and fucked everything up for everyone everywhere forever) were their usual preferred career paths. Now without looking into it, this all suggests that Sixtus may have been the 6th son/child of his father lol.
