    It’s amazing how far computers, programs and controls have come.
    The last time I actually played a flight sim that wasn’t a real simulator was a game called “Jet” in the Navy we received new very expensive IMB AT computers with black screens that all text was green.
    Jet had an f-16 and f-18 option. We played that “stick” figure game for hours. Missiles were
    Literally a line with additional lines that angled off the back of the missile.

    Really impressed with your F14 videos. The debriefs are great. I flew the F-14 from 1989-1998. VF-102 and VF-201. I really wish we had a sim like this to practice with back in the day. It's much harder to understand dogfight geometry and energy management when you are learning it one dogfight at a time in a real jet. We had some pretty cool dome, 360 degree, simulators but you can imagine the image quality and processing power in the 1990's. I think the DCS sim is pretty amazing.

    • @harpoon_bakery162
      @harpoon_bakery162 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      some computers simply do not like some USB devices, especially when they are adding up in number. I lock up when i have certain USB devices active on my Gigabyte MOBO (x99 ultra-gaming), lock up is right before the windows 10 circle of dots start. So i had to buy a USB hub that allows each USB port to be turned on and off. Before I boot, i turn my HOTAS off or I will lock up. Sometimes too many lock ups will crash an M.2 SSD so watch out for that. Gigabyte support is no help. They are totally clueless. Very irritating. So bottom line, be careful how many USB devices you have on your computer. I lost count a long time ago. Also remember that in a 3 sensor VR config (Oculus) that you need to have the back sensor plugged into ONLY USB 2.0 !!! and make sure to get a USB 2.0 extender cable that has a built-in repeater.

    Two Questions:
    1. What do you use for rudder control? The first Saitek (from twenty years ago) had a left/right rocker switch on the throttle where your fingers laid on top of it. Very comfortable and easy to use.
    2. What controllers do you use or recommend for WWII aircraft? That's really what I'm most interested in.
    Really enjoy your videos... especially when you're trying to calm down the RIO/WSO/GIB in a Phantom or a Tomcat! LOL

    Very nice setup. I will be trying to make mine like yours piece by piece. Your voice and sound is great. As the person doing everything for your video it can be hard to realize it is just right because we tend to want to have exactly how we want it. As for your mic background noise get a pop filter that will help a little along with the one already on it. The mic arm helped with the noise because of sound vibration coming from the desk and reflecting off the desk. You will never get rid of it unless you sound deaden your walls any flat surface that will reflect sound.

    Great videos, I'm just starting to look at the dcs system. Although I am not very tech savvy I would like to get into it. Was wondering what your whole setup costs are for everything you have. Thanks

    Great channel, big ups GS. Guys I need some advice for a new gaming system specifically for DCS/MSFS - with about 3k saved. Can any serious DCS pilot tell me if that's enough for everything necessary including peripheral add-ons, throttle, track ir, other clutch add-ons? Looking to get into DCS to join a squadron w PC specs able to FLY competently, not lag or be embarrassed unable to keep up or missing out on something. Love that these sims exist with a huge community. Thanks in advance for the help, I'm stoked

    Hi, I didn’t see that you mentioned how the winwing stick was secured to your desk. I really liked the mount setup, can you please elaborate ?

    Awesome thanks for this, I was wondering what display you were using, you seem to be able to spot the enemy easily in dog fights. I was thinking of going with a 38" ultra wide or a 43" 16:9 monitor.

      I have a 34 inch wide and it fits nicely.. space is an issue so any larger and id be out of luck ... :)

    If you use reshade do you think you could do a quick vid on the settings you use? Or even post a link to a profile? Your videos look great!
