I saw FEAR when they toured for "The Re-Record" in Denver. I met Lee Ving and got him to sign The Record and More Beer. He was a total dick. I wouldn't have expected anything less.
Mosh pit kinda sad….ring around the Rosie🤣 The best punk rock shows are in cramped, fucked up, low ceiling, max 200 drunk/angry/nihilistic/feral youth who don’t give a fuck, sweaty, barely functioning venue with chain-link fence enclosed bar serving outlaw Miller high life.
We're old and just having fun now. Nothing to be angry about when you're a millionaire old guy with kids and responsibilities. While he's playing the solo's Lee's thinking "damn, did I close the garage door? I hope mittens don't get out."
I was there, but I didn't get in the pit. I was 25 now I'm 27, I still enjoy moshpits but all the younger people need to get this experience. I've slready had my fair share of getting thrown around at shows

Lee looks closer to the assisted living facility than he does singing in a band. And not to be too disrespectful, he sounds like it too. I saw them in ‘85 & ‘86, then again around ‘89/90 a few times, and granted...they didn’t sound much better then, but it was different. A legendary band that should ride in to the sunset...for good. And yeh...what a terrible set list for such a short show.
He sounds just as robust as he did in the 80s, especially when seen through an audience Android held by a person trying not to get "moshpitted" or to have Heineken spilled on him or her! So Lee's not barechested and wearing Doc Martins or shoe-polishing his hair. He's paid his dues and carries the torch for one of my favorite, genuine punk bands! As a former fellow band member of mine said to me about him after partying with him: He puts on his shoes one at a time like everybody else. Oy!
NO way he sounds amazing. He is elderly what do you expect? he looks good for his age though. Hahahahah i just missed them play i am devistated havn't seen them since the 90's I didn't know they still toured.
"Punk" music and philosophy embraces nihilism more than anything. It doesn't matter who is president, PM or emperor - they all suck! Your (and my) political views don't matter here. What matters is the angst that arose from punk music and erupted in great songs! I think it "hybrided" into new wave and powerpop music (still another great form of music that today calls itself "punk") and tried to resurrect itself in the 90s with "alternative rock." Despite all the labels people want to put on music or equate it to any political candidate or position - I think Marlon Brando in "The Wild Ones" summed it up best: Mildred: Hey, Johnny, what are you rebelling against? Johnny (casually playing the congas): Whaddaya' got?

Fear was a blues band that wanted to bring the musicianship out of punk. Instead, punk was brought out of musicians.
