@@yrsued I had a Mossberg 500A that I used for geologist work. 10 years in the truck, ATV, boat, canoe, plane, chopper, on my back and tge plastic trigger was never a problem.
Fingers crossed that Mossberg releases a Thunder Ranch-style version in the future with the shortened LOP stock and stand-off breacher barrel. Perhaps the boys at Vang Comp would be willing to work their magic on a 590S.

Picked up my 20 inch 590s last week. Love it. Haven’t shot it yet. So far Ive been able to buy a couple boxes of aguila 7.5 shot minis and federal slugs. Hard to find minis. I wish I could find federal x2 oo buck shorties. Also my 590s didnt come with ghost rings ?
My initial purchase was going to be a 9 shot 590 with ghost rings and a heat shield. My question to my fellow shotgunners is “ Will a heat shield fit on a 20 inch 590S”. I think they look dope haha.

@@yrsued Be safe and enjoy that 590. I generally use 7 shot for practice. 04 Buckshot or high velocity steel BB shot in the house for self protection. I stay away from 00 buckshot in the house for over penetration concerns. 3 of us at home and don’t want anyone but the bad guy getting hurt.
@@yrsued You can swap out the trigger assembly for the metal unit. I did so with my 590 along with the metal safety selector. Also Wolff extra power magazine tube springs are a good replacement choice as they hold tension much longer than factory units.

It may make an interesting video to compare the 3 ways to run minishells in a Mossberg under potential real-life conditions. How you are holding the gun (barrel/ejector port pointed down/up), how hard you are racking it (pistol grip racking is different from 3-point racking), and if you are running or crawling all impart forces on a minishell as it leaves the mag tube. In short, how does the minishell solutions from the 590S, the OPSol Flex Adapter, and the Defender Tactical stack up against each other in simulated real home defense situations? Obviously, if you already own one of these, you can test yourself. Like a poorly secured pistol holster flopping around, a minishell rattling around in the receiver as you are defending yourself is not desirable.
Well, to be honest, the micro shell is NOT flopping around there, it is held under tension in the tube and when you use the OpSol or the 590s, it feeds as reliable as a normal shell, I tested the 590s back in 2019, when it was in pre production, it got delayed due to the Coof, now even as a pre production firearm, it worked flawlessly and we put it through a Gunsite 2 day class, not a single failure to function!! NOT ONE. Try it for yourself if you can before you completely discount it, it's worth the look for home defense.
@@yrsued Magazine WELL/receiver, not the magazine tube. Just got done myself evaluating the adapter that has the rubber adapter at the back of receiver like the S. If it rattles, it will flip, jam, or fall out. It just depends on how you rack it. Perhaps I will spend $550 on an S to evaluate, but like I wrote above, if can rattle in the receiver, things happen. With the OPSol, the "rattle" of the minishell is less than the rattle of a regular length shell in a shotgun.
@@guillermomaguire5394 I have done both, the OpSol and the S, we put the S through hell for two days and one thing I did, I staggered full 2=3/4" shells and Shorty Shells, one then the other, filled the tube and went to town. not a single failure to feed. Then again, I don't wait or rack slowly, I try to rack fast right after pressing the trigger, bang, then rack as fast as I possibly can. Now, Am I good at doing that?? NO, NOT AT ALL, I need much more practice.
@@yrsued Thanks for the reply. That was helpful. So you understand where I am coming from, I started developing the OPSol miniclip in 2013. I went through heck racking the gun in all sorts of weird positions, slow/fast/ straight up and down, etc. I have a few friends with combat experience, and they had told me to be thorough in my testing. I took that to heart. A Remington 870 and and Winchester 1300 (both of which I made a fool out of myself in front of them with minishells) will feed minis if done just right. But otherwise, the excess space in the receiver makes for a pinball machine. KSGs and KS7 are another. They feed pretty well. But when you jerk the guns around, the minishells jump around. I inspected the S at a store. If it allows the shell to move around in the receiver, the forces imparted by slam racking, vertical racking, port down racking, and slow/odd position racking will most likely do what this adapter I just tested did. Having a piece of rubber at the back of the receiver to stop a flip while you hold the gun horizontal (ish) is good, but is it realistic when you or more importantly, your family members, are defending your house, stressed out, and firing back? FYI, Mossberg told me in 2020 they were working on the multi length solution. I couldn't see it then for the very reasons I explained above. A minishell needs a mini receiver, imo.

All I can say is that I have one and it DOES work, I have yet to have a single failure to function.
Nice shotgun! If I were in the market for a new pump, why not this one as it IS more versatile? However, you have a man sized gun, I'm shooting man sized shells through it for maximum effect. That's why I use the fighting shotgun! It a big heavy gun and big heavy thundering shells, why go light? WIth it taking the mini shells, you can go into a store and find more variety of shells to put through it. Either way, as you know me, it is a fighting shotgun and a good one. They could have left the big white sign off the side? Again, good gun!

This Barrel has a Choke and it needs to be drilled behind the Choke, don't let a hack with a Drill close to your shotgun. Coating?? Personally, I'm not a big Cerakote fan, but everyone loves it!! Make sure you let a legit applicator do the job!!
@@yrsued Exactly. There is no compelling reason for this shotgun re design, unless you want to mix rounds in your tube. And there is no compelling reason for that mix, really. We at OPSol knew Mossberg was working on this, and honestly, not sure why. But, from our view, whatever it takes to get ammunition manufacturers to make ALOT more minis, the better. An 88 or shockwave, with minis and the OPSol makes for a great platform for the entire family to use for home defense, training, etc.

@@yrsued When I went to buy ( a little over a week ago ) I assumed they all were basically like that. Both my a1 and 590s came very basic. Both gold bead sites. I was disappointed for a few days but after referring to military guys I besides a better stock I pretty much have exactly what I need. No longer disappointed. I am still learning. The gun shop wasn't helpful at all in the process. Didn't carry dummy rounds only snap caps. Says same thing but definitely not. Said no such thing as shorty slugs meanwhile on the federal site. Didn't try at all to help me pick a 590 just ordered me the bare versions. Other than stocks I am not changing them since I know a little bit more now. I am West Virginia country boy so you would think growing up there I would be more familiar with stuff. I'm not.
@@yrsued Did that to my 870 Marine Magnum, but if I'm going to get another pump it needs to tick boxes the 870 doesn't. Like the Accu-Choke, want all steel fittings, mini shell capable and the XS sights out the box. Already have a box full of parts I took off the 870 I'll never use again.

I like all the features except that fore end. Maybe if there were a flare/hand stop it would keep the hand from slipping.
But remember, that forend can be easily replaced with a Magpul one!! Of course you know I will be doing some customizing to this shotgun.
The 590S also has a thinner barrel wall so it is lighter in weight than a 590A1. It also has a plastic trigger assembly like a 500 or 88.
I did upgrade my 590 to the Aluminum Trigger Guard and Thumb Safety Lever!!

That is NOT True!! I have this 590, it has the Heat Shield and it has a Ghost Ring!! I did change the Factory Ghost Ring to an XS Model.
From what I understand, heat shields won't fit on a1 models due to the heavy walled barrel, but will fit everything else.

@@yrsued Exactly. There is no compelling reason for this shotgun re design, unless you want to mix rounds in your tube. And there is no compelling reason for that mix, really. We at OPSol knew Mossberg was working on this, and honestly, not sure why. But, from our view, whatever it takes to get ammunition manufacturers to make ALOT more minis, the better.
An 88 or shockwave, with minis and the OPSol makes for a great platform for the entire family to use for home defense, training, etc.
@@guillermomaguire5394 This a feature that might not be for everyone, but they are selling and I think that eventually the standard 590 will go away and they will all be the "S" Model.
@@yrsued Perhaps. Either way, I just want more ammo made. Both because it is the way to go for the family, and so we can sell more adapters to millions who already have 500s.
The versatility of the mini is just now being explored. People are going to be very surprised on the power and loads that it can do.
@@guillermomaguire5394 Oh, I agree, the OPSOL adapter is the coolest thing there is out there!! My buddy has a Shockwave with it for personal protection at home!! I have two of them and I will do a Video with it very soon!!

@@yrsued I mean if you have the defender tactical mini shell kit, why would you buy a 590s. The kit allows you to run mini and regular shells with any 590 variant and it only cost $25.

Bought this gun. No chokes no sights besides a bead and no m lock front. Helps to know what your getting. I didn't. No big deal though. Fine as is.
Well, you purchased A 590S, but NOT THIS 590S. There are several Models, this one is SKU 51602, you probably purchased SKU #51605. There are three Shotgun Models and two Shockwave Models of this firearm

@@BryceGarling Just making sure you were aware that I didn't show a custom product, at the time this video came out, almost two years ago, this was the ONLY 590S.
@@yrsued When I went to buy ( a little over a week ago ) I assumed they all were basically like that. Both my a1 and 590s came very basic. Both gold bead sites. I was disappointed for a few days but after referring to military guys I besides a better stock I pretty much have exactly what I need. No longer disappointed. I am still learning. The gun shop wasn't helpful at all in the process. Didn't carry dummy rounds only snap caps. Says same thing but definitely not. Said no such thing as shorty slugs meanwhile on the federal site. Didn't try at all to help me pick a 590 just ordered me the bare versions. Other than stocks I am not changing them since I know a little bit more now. I am West Virginia country boy so you would think growing up there I would be more familiar with stuff. I'm not.

That stock and forend look horrible and poorly ergonomic. When they offer it in the 590A1 Magpul with the accu-choke, it'll be a better option.
You know that changing furniture is not that hard, even I can do it, all on my own and I suck at that stuff.
@@yrsued Did that to my 870 Marine Magnum, but if I'm going to get another pump it needs to tick boxes the 870 doesn't. Like the Accu-Choke, want all steel fittings, mini shell capable and the XS sights out the box. Already have a box full of parts I took off the 870 I'll never use again.
@@montycasper4300 Only one box?? I have two or three!! I probably have four sets of stocks now. My first 870 was a 1960 CHP Police Trade In I got in 92-93. Vang just did it a couple of years ago.
