I saw this for the first time in 2015 when I was making a "comeback" of my own in competitive bodybuilding at 45 years of age- this film inspired me and had me in tears when Rocky tells himself to keep moving forward and get up during the final round.

The speech! "This world is a mean and nasty place. No one hits harder than life. It'll bring you to your knees...". Love the speech. Best monologue out of all the movies. One of the best ever in any film.
Sly loves this speech so much he had his 3 daughters memorize it. Sly wrote this Rocky when he thought he was done w/Hollywood. Nobody was making any offers for awhile-he says this movie is what made people start thinking of him again

This movie is so good. It's a perfect bookend to the Rocky saga. I love they incorporated Adrian into the movie so much. Gone but definitely not forgotten.
Fun fact: The fight at the end was shot before an actual boxing match, meaning that the people in the audience weren't extras. As soon as the arena was full, the fans in attendance were told a Rocky scene being filmed before that evening scheduled fight.
If you guys like Sylvester Stallone then you should check out First Blood. First Blood is actually the first of the Rambo movies but the title of the movie is First Blood. I think that you would really like it. Stallone plays the character of a former special forces soldier named John Rambo. This character isn't anything like Rocky but Stallone does such a good job that you will be convinced that he is John Rambo just as you are convinced that he is Rocky.

In case you don’t know, this isn’t Sylvester’s real son in the movie. Sage, the guy that played his son in the 5th movie, had other obligations and couldn’t do the movie. He died in real life about a decade ago.
Stallone mostly did action dramas and action sci-fi/comedies after Rocky 1-5. Some of them are really fun (Tango & Cash, Cliffhanger, Demolition Man), and some are entertaining enough fare (Lock Up, Daylight, even Judge Dredd for the set design and costumes). A deeper cut of his is Copland (1997), definitely recommended.
Tango/Cash is the best non Rocky movie. Cliffhanger would be 2nd. U should definitely watch them. I think Sly directed Cliffhanger (or helped) the effects/scenery is amazing. He’s actually very high up sometimes harnessed sometimes not.
@@curtismartin2866 I’ve heard that and I hope it gets done. I heard Sly say he most likely won’t be climbing he’ll leave it for the younger guys I forgot to add the Expendables is also a good set of movies (I haven’t seen 4 yet) you’ll have fun naming all the action co-stars and guest shots. 1 is the one where Sly was injured badly
On the Blu-ray of this. In the deleted scenes. There was a great extended scene with Rocky & Pauly talking in the alleyway. Burt Young should have been nominated for award. In that scene he really breaks down. Saying how sad he is for being such a jerk to Adrian, Rocky and everyone is whole life. It really made you feel sad for him and he kind of redeems himself knowing he was always kind of a A-hole to everyone. R.I.P. Burt Young
Rocky is a film franchise about believing in yourself, pushing forward through hard times, and obviously it's a love story. Oh, it also has boxing. I loved watching Adrian blossom from a shy, brow-beaten shell of a human being, into a beautiful woman who was strong enough to help a champion find himself again. This movie was a perfect ending to the franchise. It was never about winning a fight or a title. It's about going after what you want and going the distance.
A lot of people miss the guy doing dishes for his meal is the guy Rocky fought first in the first Rocky film- Spider Rico. Also, everyone remembers the epic speech from Rocky about how it about how hard ya hit. But the one from Mason's coach Martin also gets me right in the feels every time, and it's a damn good piece of advice.
Rocky Balboa is BEST of the whole series!!! My brother and I went to see this in the theater kinda making fun it's been 16 years. Plus Stallone doing direct to video Eye See You and Avenging Angelo... Within 3 minutes we were dialed in, in shock at the writing and crying at the depth and emotion. Stallones career was done before this movie.. Driven, Get Carter Plus those 2 direct to video movies....Rocky Balboa gave him yet another comeback, another career like the original Rocky did. This movie was more important in his career than the original because he was a has-been joke at 59. Rocky Balboa should have been nominated for an Oscar.
When Steps named the dog 'Punchy' it was an insult. It's a term meaning a punch drunk old fighter, a disrespectful term. Sly did a good job on this film.
That was great! Thank you! I didn’t expect this - the one that closed the franchise was the best, at least to me … that is something very rare to be seen. I am so glad you guys gave me the chance to watch the whole franchise, especially together with you. I am also glad you posted it on Saturday … tomorrow morning I’ll be out of town for 3 days, without access to TH-cam, so I am pretty charged, like I always am after watching a reaction of yours. Million thanks again. Looking forward to your next reaction. All the best to you, from your Romanian brother …
Hi guys, thank you. Wow just wow Rocky has been my all time favourite since my early teens and I’ve watch the entire franchise many many times. As I’ve grown I learnt to understand and appreciate it in ways I didn’t as a kid, and I thought I had the film sussed until I watched your reactions. WOW you taught me how to watch and understand fully what the Rocky franchise was all about. I cried with you, laughed with you, and now with a fresh understanding of how to see with my heart and head and not just with my eyes., I’m going to re-watch your reactions. You’re both amazing. Thank you❤
Hey M & J! Thanks for the shout-out, prayers and well wishes! Things are getting back to reasonably normal here. The power was only out for a week. While grocery stores had obvious deficiencies, there was plenty enough to stay fed. Stores were even giving away drinking water. Personally, I only had 2 of the FEMA meals, and that was more out of convenience than necessity. While gas seemed in the shortest supply, folks were mostly patient and friendly. The Governor even set up some free gas distribution centers to ease the crunch. So, we're mostly counting our blessings that it wasn't worse. Glad to join you for another installment of the Rocky/Creed series. Once again, I'm right there with you on your various expressions and observations. There's just something irresistible about watching again through your (both) eyes. I'll certainly watch along however far you take the franchise. I do want to take this opportunity to recommend a franchise on the basis of top tier writing, acting, direction, etc, etc. I expect that future comments may get buried if I don't happen upon the reactions early enough. Anyway, you're through the original 6 Rocky movies, that's probably about equal to the watch time for the Lord of the Rings trilogy, if you watch the extended versions and I recommend that you do. I'll just say my endorsement comes from a reader who discovered Tolkien 52 years ago and who read The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings for the first time then, and reread them every winter for the next 10 years. I know it's a long watch and a big investment to put out reaction videos, but this really is an exceptional trio. This is too long to cut short so I'll just say farewell and it was nice to see you as always.
The speech he made Go out and get what you worth , That's how winning is It's a very powerful speech he made I.Enjoyed your guys' reaction With Is respect and kindness Always You're a big fan Talks with chris
I remember when me and my friends decided to see this in the theater we were worried at first because of Rocky 5 but man everybody in the audience including us loved it.
This is the first time I watched you guys because I love Rocky Balboa so much. Then at the end I find out there’s boxing history here! Subscribed to see the Creed films reactions and also going to look back on past reactions to the Rocky Anthology
This is how you end a Rocky story I’m so glad you guys loved it what a legendary character by a legendary actor director writer it don’t get better than 1.2 and 6.
I love your movie reactions. I followed all your Rocky franchise reactions and I look forward to the Creed franchise reactions. You are both my favourite film reaction channel. Love from London UK ❤️
You absolutely must, must, must watch and react to Creed I and Creed II. Rocky continues. Puts a really nice and proper end to Rocky series. You will love it. Thank you for your time and effort.
@@BossMovieReactionsThere is no reason not to do C3 as well, even if Stallone is not in the movie, it’s still part of the whole saga. I think of it as Rocky/Creed saga. Nobody would know Rocky without Apollo Creed. And it’s great to see continuation of the Creed legacy with his son.
I loved your reactions to all 6 movies. Unlike you, I watched them over 30 years. I think Rocky Balboa is one of the greatest movie characters of all time. I have built an internal persona that tries to live up to him. His goodness. His heart. His stamina. I feel like you guys get what these movies are all about.
Hello Sam and Christy! Yes, Rocky must be one of the greatest movie characters ever. I've never seen anything better regarding that! Absolutely loved it! Thanks for watching along! (:
I remember back in the 80s the ROCKY movies were so easily mocked for its repetitive nature and extremities, but the part people overlooked was the heart. And that's what Stallone was always good at was focusing on the heart of the story and characters. The speeches and the lines had more zing and cleverness because Stallone knew the characters so well. Even in those RAMBO movies Sly never lost focus on the heart of the matter. Even things as recent as THE EXPENDABLES. I think that's where a lot of action movies and sports films fail. They're more focused on the action moments instead of building a strong foundation so you want the characters to succeed. This movie was different. They didn't emphasize on making Mason Dixon villainous. They made him a real person. Maybe he's a bit of a jerk, but not a Clubber Lang or Drago. Instead they focused on Rocky's struggles and the things he cares about. I mean, would Paulie be the person he is if Rocky never met Adrian? Would Steps follow the wrong crowd if Rocky didn't step in? Even Spider Rico. Rocky touched everyone's life. Even that piece of shit loan shark.
My heart ached watching this movie knowing that Adrian was gone. You could see how much pain Rocky was in and how he tried to still be himself even when he wanted to fall apart sometimes.
rocky is almost a story about time, and what you put into your time.. well, ive enjoyed my time watching these rocky movies with you.. just look at that last shot of him, looking over that scene.. as the light dims.. a long street filled with the familiar mists of time
There is a lot of trivia about this film, there are lots of bonuses that have been cut out and which can also be found on TH-cam Whats extremely interesting is that the stadium wasn't extras; they were all spectators who were there for a boxing match that took place after the Rocky filming and that's why the Rocky chants are authentic from the audience and weren't requested by the director When Rocky walks out of the stadium and then back again, the scene was completely improvised, because Burt Young noticed how much Rocky was being celebrated, and it wasn't in the script that he should turn around again And Sylvester Stallone wasn't happy with part 5 and wanted to give Rocky a proper ending.
Yes, I know about the audience, I just saw the deleted scene (amazing) and I had a feeling that the "turning around" was improvised! Thx for sharing! (:
Great reaction as always . I've read somewhere that Stallone didn't cast his real son Sage this time because he did not want that people misinterpreted the life speech he gives to his son in the movie. Regards from Chile 🇨🇱 🙂
Hello, guys! I've been following your TH-cam channel since your reaction to ROCKY, and I just had to say something... I've been a Rocky fan since I was six years old, and now, as I approach my 50th birthday on November 16th, this character still means the world to me. Since I was a little girl, I’ve been a Rocky fan. I even danced to the Rocky theme at my first ballet recital, feeling his story shape my own. Rocky has been a lifeline, a steady source of inspiration through every chapter of my life. Fast forward to today, and I’ve watched the Rocky saga hundreds of times-so many that I can recite every line by heart. Sometimes, I even watch it on mute because I already know exactly what each character is saying. The story and spirit are just that powerful. I’ve seen every reactor’s take on the whole franchise, but yours stood out. You bring such heart to your reactions, and it's clear that you understand what makes Rocky so special. I truly hope you’ll continue with the Creed movies (though I think I heard you say you've already watched them before); but because Rocky’s journey doesn’t end with Rocky Balboa-there’s still so much left to experience. Watching the Creed films right after following Rocky’s entire path adds a depth that’s hard to put into words. If you haven’t seen them yet (and even if you have), I think you’ll still find that they bring something new and meaningful, especially for those of us who’ve been alongside Rocky for so long. Reacting to Creed would be the best 50th birthday gift I could ask for! You've heard it before, but you really have become my favorite reactors, and I'm excited to see what you'll do next. Thank you so much, and remember-keep punching!🥊🥊😊
Hello Ann, thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and experience, and thank you for your kind words! We're so happy you found our channel. Btw, we have not seen Creed yet, and it's on our list to do next, especially C1 and C2, then we'll see... In other words, your birthday gift is coming!! (:

Hm, strange, I just responded to your comment a minute ago and now here it is again (?). Anyway, yes, I agree that it was a bit disrespectful, but I liked the fact that Steps mentioned that it was just a joke and I loved how Rocky played it. Good stuff! And thank you for your kind words! (:
Great reaction!! Was really excited and anxious waiting for this one! Y'all never disappoint. You're the only one who showed the ending with fans running up the steps and Rocky. Such a powerful ending. Being born and raised in Philly, Rocky is our hero and brother. We love when Sly comes here with his family. Cant wait for y'all to react to CREED. They are sooo amazing and come back full circle, well, the first 2 at least. 🥊🥊💚
For many years, Rocky 5 was final Rocky movie for me and I was not satisfied. But this movie gave me the great closure. Thank you for reacting all Rocky movies!
Great reaction as always, love Rocky. You will also love another Sylvester Stallone classic film *Over the Top* a must see. Thank you, really enjoying these reactions and afterthoughts, you guys are awesome 👍💯❤
AWESOME REACTION! Watch the alternate ending with "Rocky" Winning! The fight was shot at a Bernard Hopkins fight in Las Vegas. "The Beast Inside" was Rocky's killer instinct from his youth and Rocky was having a hard time accepting that he still "got the heart but he doesn't have the "tools" anymore" (Mickey's words). This exhibition fight gave Rocky a chance to release the killer instinct forever and have closure to his boxing days. God bless you both!
Congratulations on your successful LASIK procedure! I hope it's everything you expected and gives you great convenience and happiness. You do look very lovely...but I thought you were also quite beautiful WITH your glasses as well! Your husband is a very fortunate man! You two are one of my favorite couples to watch on YT for reactions...keep up the good work! :)
There was a deleted scene in Rocky 5 where Rocky comes across "Little" Marie. In that she was a bum living on the street asking for money. I'm glad they took that out.
My favorite in the franchise! I saw it 3 times in theaters (the first one I got to see in theaters, born in 1990). From the first movie to this one they completed such an incredible journey arc for Rocky, even if you were to skip Rocky 2-5.
A fighter breaking his hand by hitting the hip of the other fighter has happened. The one that comes to mind is in the third fight between Arturo Gatti and Micky Ward, which is one of the best trilogies of fights in boxing history. At some point during the fight Gatti broke his hand, and he knew it. He made it through the round, went back to his corner who knew he was hurt. Gatti could be heard on camera saying, "My hand is broken." When his corner asked him what he wanted to do he replied, "I have to keep going." He ended up winning the fight be decision.
Yes! Boss movie reactions!!! I was waiting last few mornings for this. Yesterday I was like, Come on. But had to tell myself it will be worth the wait. And I love the analysis videos after. Gotta do the Creed Trilogy. You have to. They are all connected.
Thank you for waiting!! Yeah, it takes between 30-50 hours to prepare one of our reaction videos, I can hardly keep up releasing ONE a week. I'm so exhausted. LOL. Yes, we'll do C1 and C2 for sure... (:
Fun Fact: The scene when Rocky leaves the hall after the fight and the audience shouts "Rocky, Rocky" over and over again was a real farewell. All the extras in the audience did this to say goodbye to the film character Rocky Balboa because it was supposed to be the last film. Stallone was so moved that he came back to the audience as you can see in the film. That was real and real emotions.
After watching this movie, several times, I have come to realize the fact that Rocky wants to do for other people the way that he wanted somebody to do for him. In the original Rocky, it took Mik 10 years to come by and make sure Rocky was OK, and tried to do something for him. I think Rocky feels that he wants to do things for people right now in the moment, and not 10 years down the road.
if you asked stallone in the 70's when he wrote this if he thought it would be such a massive impact, he would never in his wildest dreams think the franchise would be so huge.
Yo Mike and Jessica!!! Great riding with ya through the Rocky series. Sent you an email to show how powerful the Rocky influence has been in my life. By the way, this was the first time Jessica shed more tears than Mike. 😊
Actually the HBO footage is real footage from the real fight when Mason was the real champ. The footage with Tyson is also real from one of his fights. And Stallone once again asked his opponent to go at it for real for the cameras and they did in the shot where Rocky takes the punch to the face in the cornerl and knocks him down is 100% real.
Looking forward to your "CREED" reactions! You'll love them, they're in the same style as this one. I watch a LOT of reactions on TH-cam but you two are easily the best. Keep doing what you're doing! I love it!
This movie is a perfect bookend to the first one. The ones in the middle are irrelevant money grabs in my opinion. I took up boxing 15 years ago. Rocky is a huge inspiration to me, especially now that I’m in my mid fifties, and recovering from a major illness. Sylvester Stallone got buff for this movie, and I believe I can too. That’s how winning is done.

Thanks for that. Yeah, Copland came up a few times! Looking forward to it! (:
Tango/Cash is the best non Rocky movie. Cliffhanger would be 2nd. U should definitely watch them. I think Sly directed Cliffhanger (or helped) the effects/scenery is amazing. He’s actually very high up sometimes harnessed sometimes not.
@@mellycook A Cliffhanger sequel is reportedly in the works.
@@curtismartin2866 I’ve heard that and I hope it gets done. I heard Sly say he most likely won’t be climbing he’ll leave it for the younger guys
I forgot to add the Expendables is also a good set of movies (I haven’t seen 4 yet) you’ll have fun naming all the action co-stars and guest shots. 1 is the one where Sly was injured badly
@@mellycook Yep, both movies are on our list! Thx! (:
On the Blu-ray of this. In the deleted scenes. There was a great extended scene with Rocky & Pauly talking in the alleyway. Burt Young should have been nominated for award. In that scene he really breaks down. Saying how sad he is for being such a jerk to Adrian, Rocky and everyone is whole life. It really made you feel sad for him and he kind of redeems himself knowing he was always kind of a A-hole to everyone. R.I.P. Burt Young
Just watched it. Amazing indeed! Thx! (:
R.I.P. Pig Pen
R.I.P. Burt Young you will be TRULY missed
Fun fact: Mr. Young was a boxer in real life and a pretty good one when he was in the service!
Yeah, I looked him up the other day and found some nice pictures of him. RIP. (:
Yes, I remembered his name, not his face! (:
100%
Yes, this franchise is one of the best things I've ever seen. Oscar-worthy indeed! (:
Same the only one I saw in the theater. Fast forward now I m a parent of a grown-up so much more resonate with this movie :)

Paulie is sad and ashamed how he treated her
Yes, he was. Sad to see... /-:
When Steps named the dog 'Punchy' it was an insult. It's a term meaning a punch drunk old fighter, a disrespectful term. Sly did a good job on this film.
Yes, correct, Steps even mentioned that he was joking and Rocky was aware of it! (:
That was great! Thank you!
I didn’t expect this - the one that closed the franchise was the best, at least to me … that is something very rare to be seen. I am so glad you guys gave me the chance to watch the whole franchise, especially together with you. I am also glad you posted it on Saturday … tomorrow morning I’ll be out of town for 3 days, without access to TH-cam, so I am pretty charged, like I always am after watching a reaction of yours. Million thanks again.
Looking forward to your next reaction.
All the best to you, from your Romanian brother …
Hello, hello! We're happy to hear that you had a chance to watch it before you leave town. All the best to you!! ((:
The man doing dishes was same boxer in opening scene of first movie.
Yes, I didn't recognize his face, but I recognized his name, "Spider." (:
Glad to see you two! You will love this one.
Oh, yeah, we did!! (:
Hi guys, thank you. Wow just wow Rocky has been my all time favourite since my early teens and I’ve watch the entire franchise many many times. As I’ve grown I learnt to understand and appreciate it in ways I didn’t as a kid, and I thought I had the film sussed until I watched your reactions. WOW you taught me how to watch and understand fully what the Rocky franchise was all about. I cried with you, laughed with you, and now with a fresh understanding of how to see with my heart and head and not just with my eyes., I’m going to re-watch your reactions.
You’re both amazing.
Thank you❤
Aw, that's such an amazing comment, thank you so much, it made our day!! All the best to you, and a big hug!! (:
HELLO Philip!! Good to hear from you, and we're happy to hear that things are getting better. I made a note of all you have written. Thanks!! (:

You absolutely must, must, must watch and react to Creed I and Creed II. Rocky continues. Puts a really nice and proper end to Rocky series. You will love it. Thank you for your time and effort.
Yep, we'll do C1 and C2. (:
@@BossMovieReactionsThere is no reason not to do C3 as well, even if Stallone is not in the movie, it’s still part of the whole saga. I think of it as Rocky/Creed saga. Nobody would know Rocky without Apollo Creed. And it’s great to see continuation of the Creed legacy with his son.
@@jbc22112 We will consider it, thank you! 👍
Agreed 100%. (:
Just popping it to say I can't wait to watch the reaction later!
Haha, that's awesome! ENJOY!! (:
My heart ached watching this movie knowing that Adrian was gone. You could see how much pain Rocky was in and how he tried to still be himself even when he wanted to fall apart sometimes.
Yes, that's what I've observed as well. Very sad! Thx for watching! (:
rocky is almost a story about time, and what you put into your time.. well, ive enjoyed my time watching these rocky movies with you.. just look at that last shot of him, looking over that scene.. as the light dims.. a long street filled with the familiar mists of time

Rocky 1,2,3 and this one without a doubt the best of the series!
Thanks for sharing, Uncle Charlie!! (:
I've really been enjoying your reactions, great job guys.😊
Thank you so much, Peter!! 😁
There is a lot of trivia about this film, there are lots of bonuses that have been cut out and which can also be found on TH-cam
Whats extremely interesting is that the stadium wasn't extras; they were all spectators who were there for a boxing match that took place after the Rocky filming and that's why the Rocky chants are authentic from the audience and weren't requested by the director
When Rocky walks out of the stadium and then back again, the scene was completely improvised, because Burt Young noticed how much Rocky was being celebrated, and it wasn't in the script that he should turn around again
And Sylvester Stallone wasn't happy with part 5 and wanted to give Rocky a proper ending.
Thank you! Yes, I think that's true, I did read the same thing about Sly not casting his real son, etc... Greetings to Chile!! (:

AWESOME REACTION! Watch the alternate ending with "Rocky" Winning! The fight was shot at a Bernard Hopkins fight in Las Vegas. "The Beast Inside" was Rocky's killer instinct from his youth and Rocky was having a hard time accepting that he still "got the heart but he doesn't have the "tools" anymore" (Mickey's words). This exhibition fight gave Rocky a chance to release the killer instinct forever and have closure to his boxing days. God bless you both!

There was a deleted scene in Rocky 5 where Rocky comes across "Little" Marie. In that she was a bum living on the street asking for money. I'm glad they took that out.
And I think that had the original actress too.
That scene I didn't see, but I saw the one with Paulie and Rocky in the alley. Very powerful! (:
My favorite in the franchise! I saw it 3 times in theaters (the first one I got to see in theaters, born in 1990). From the first movie to this one they completed such an incredible journey arc for Rocky, even if you were to skip Rocky 2-5.
Yeah, this was indeed amazing! (:
A fighter breaking his hand by hitting the hip of the other fighter has happened. The one that comes to mind is in the third fight between Arturo Gatti and Micky Ward, which is one of the best trilogies of fights in boxing history. At some point during the fight Gatti broke his hand, and he knew it. He made it through the round, went back to his corner who knew he was hurt. Gatti could be heard on camera saying, "My hand is broken." When his corner asked him what he wanted to do he replied, "I have to keep going."
He ended up winning the fight be decision.
Wow, thanks for sharing!!

Rocky is our belief, our potential, our hope in movies. Stallone did something wonderful that will last a lifetime.
Yes, you're right!! Wonderful stuff! (:
After watching this movie, several times, I have come to realize the fact that Rocky wants to do for other people the way that he wanted somebody to do for him. In the original Rocky, it took Mik 10 years to come by and make sure Rocky was OK, and tried to do something for him. I think Rocky feels that he wants to do things for people right now in the moment, and not 10 years down the road.
Great point. Love it! (:
Rocky does bring out the very best in paulie whoch every 1 needs coz paulie is a deep man❤
Yes, I loved the dynamic between Rocky and Paulie! Good stuff! (:
if you asked stallone in the 70's when he wrote this if he thought it would be such a massive impact, he would never in his wildest dreams think the franchise would be so huge.
Yeah, that would've been almost impossible to imagine!! (:
In the DVD/Blu-Ray it has the alternate ending! So it's like a Choose Your Own Adventure kind of deal, at least for that part!
