The reason I fell in love with the movies is j coburn steve McQueen Kirk Douglas Burt Lancaster John Wayne etc as young child in early 70s actors I'll rember them forever more
It's a shame Peckinpah had such a problem with drugs and alcohol during the latter half of his career. He was falling apart during what should have been his most productive years.
I mean, Sam wasn’t famous even back then. Most directors aren’t, minus the big names like Spielberg and Lucas. Sam even had some resentment about it when actors he was with were recognized and he was ignored.
Coburn is a legend. The sun never sets on a legend.
James Coburn was a brilliant actor…. peckinpah was one of the greatest directors ever

I would love to see a movie based on Peckinpah's life. The man was a genius
Paul Schrader is the right director for that. He knew him personally and he was influenced by Peckinpah.
Coburn and Peckinpah are two the best. Legends
“Action films not films with action” superb quote
best descripton of sam...niceone james
thanks for the upload. Hope I can find the whole interview.
This IS the whole Coburn interview from the "Portrait" documentary. I took all his interview bits out and put them together.
When was this interview taken?
@@009slaycouple years before his death probably around 2000

Good upload.
James Coburn was a brilliant actor. I loved his voice role of Mr. Waternoose in Monsters, Inc. (2001).
3:07 this is for you marvel 😂😂
I recently talked to a coworker who is a little older than I (68) and this man never heard of Sam Peckinpah. Fame is simply an illusion.
You have to recommend him some Peckinpah movies. If he likes westerns he will love The Wild Bunch.
Perhaps but he is more of an old hippie type. He was surprised that I listen to hard rock. Sam would not appeal to him.@@RobinSchoutenRS
Who thought Peckinpah was famous enough for a layperson to know who he was, let alone known by someone you say wouldn't like his work?
