    James Coburn is one of those guys who just had charismatic features and, like Steve McQueen , Charles Bronson and Lee Marvin were the actors that my generation tried to emulate and were in the best movies..The original anti-hero that you wanted to win in the end...Coburn could play the villain with his cocky smile and presence...Thanks for this interview.

    I recently discovered & watched The Last of Sheila. A great Suspense/Mystery Who-Done-It from the 70s. An incredibly underrated film.

    Surprised he seems so laid back and kindly, given how intimidating he came across on screen so often (Pat Garrett, Cross of Iron, Affliction etc)

    Coburn here is so obviously a generous, thoughtful, gentle man. A pity that the interviewer is so juvenile, with his battery of random quotes (Peckinpah films and the NRA is possibly the most absurd), and his banal questions; one half expects him to say, 'And next, what is your favourite colour?'

    • @ericcrawford3453
      @ericcrawford3453 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      True, interviewer kinda fumbling along on some of his off the mark questioning. Still it's James Coburn in weird mostly unseen piece of footage.

    Coburn, McQueen, Bronson all had that cool confidence, self assured, don't need anybody else air, man of the world characters...Sometimes i wonder why I'm drawn to that type of screen presence and real life persona..
    Many don't know this: Greg Laurie liked the actors too, especially Steve McQueen (the recent Jesus Revolution movie is about Greg's coming to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior). Eleven months before his death, Steve listened to Greg Laurie and gave his life to Jesus. Thanks, Greg..there are videos about it. I hope that many in Hollywood will make that same decision.
    A little known character study movie "The Honkers", about a Rodeo Cowboy starring James Coburn and Slim Pickens, should have won him at least an Oscar nomination...still a fan:).
    And he definitely should have won another Oscar for "Hard Times."

    If I had the chance to ask James Coburn one question, it would be if he was ever offered the chance to be in The Dirty Dozen. I think that Charles Bronson is the only actor that went from The Magnificent Seven to The Great Escape to The Dirty Dozen. Those were the 3 films from 1960 to 1966 that encompassed a war type mentality of us against the enemy.

    Thank you for posting this.
    I saw this interview when it was first shown on TV.
    I haven't had a chance to watch it again yet but is there any mention of A Fistful of Dynamite (aka Duck, You Sucker)?
    I vaguely remember Coburn mentioning it but I may be confusing that with another interview.

    Do you have any other episodes? I have almost all of them from this series but I'm still missing the Janet Leigh and the John Sayles episode, do you have any of the 2 by any chance? Would be amazing if you can upload them :)

    Unfortunate the interviewer didn't touch upon the iconic Leone film "Duck You Sucker" aka "Fistful of Dynamite", a sterling performance by Coburn as "Firecracker".
