Hey, that's my Dad! (father in law to be exact) - it's so lovely to see him again! I just love this man so much, one of the smartest sweetest people I've ever met. Masters degrees in History and English and a hell of a beautiful soul. Love you Granpa G! You will always be golden!
Thank you. He is very intelligent and well spoken. One of my favorite 'Man of Iron' interviews. Your father in law is still very popular. Please join on FB the Sam Peckinpah Fanpage, and also The Wild Bunch Fanpage.
Wow!! What an actor what a man I've loved Pat Garrett and Billy the kid ever since I saw it 40 yrs ago. 'Repent you SOB' and 'How does Jesus look from here Bob'
He was a outstanding character actor I understand why he was used so much. These kind of actors never get the interviews they should. Such a treat to see him talk about his profession. The man is intelligent but you can tell he has a very rough and tumble side, hes not the kind of man you wont to piss off or get on his bad side.
RG Armstrong is so amazing in P&G. He just chewed the scenery like no one's business. He gets so intense and disturbed you 100% buy into the character.
They just don’t make actors like this anymore in general. I don’t know that acting is a profession for real people anymore. Talented artists surround themselves with other talented artists…. I wish RG would have been in the Wild Bunch! Damn. Lol
I remember listening to Burt Reynolds talking about how intimidated he was by R.G. Armstrong. He does seem like he could be a pretty intimidating fellow if he wanted to be.
@@RobinSchoutenRS An Actor who is only a bad Guy in the Movies and who is in real Live very nice, kind and down to Earth, is a very good Actor. R.G. Armstrong was one of theme. The Interview is fantastic. May he Rest in Peace. Also a very good Actor who play's mostly Evil Parts in Movies, is Udo Kier. And Udo Kier is in real Live also a very nice, charming Man.
if you love cinema, don't watch Sam's films on INSP, as they hack them to pieces. the scene where RG is dead in 'Ride the high Country', surprised me when I went to see it at a revival theater 30 years ago, thinking that Arthur Penn was the first to show bullet holes on a person's head. they hacked that out. so the sadness that the scene causes the viewer is gone. the old pro Joel McCrea realizes too late that he fell for a ruse, and he's disappointed in himself. just like in 'the WILD BUNCH' when Lyle (Warren Oates)is disappointed in the bunch for allowing themselves to be snuck up upon by Mexican indians who know the area well. they come in peace, but that's not the point, as far as Lyle's concerned. and doesn't Sam borrow from John Huston (Treasure of Sierra Madre)for the scene? he does it a couple times, actually .Edmund O'brien pays homage to Walter Huston.
rg was a consummate performer and very much his own man regarding his performance.on short lived show the cat with robert loggia he had the humdrum role of regular support character the police lieutenant who liases with loggia on his cases.he recalled the show should have been great had a terrific premise and robert bought a physicality to the role that has seldom been seen on tv.yet as happens bt the time the network got involved the show got cheapened budgets cut and the premise so watered down that it was just another cop show.my character just every week shouted a lot told robert he was wrong then after he solved the case appeared at the end to congratulate him.i racked my brains how to make the guy interesting!! so on the first day of shooting i turned up with a false prosthetic arm with a hook! no one said anything .there had been so many changes no one knew if the character had been written that way or not.there was no reference ever to my guy being one armed in the scripts.i just thought it up.at least i had everyone watching the show looking at me! i was like spock with his ears on star trek though on a far less sucessful show.way i figgered it the show may be bad but ill do the best i can to make my character stand out.
What small fraction of a man you must be. I can only imagine the pale imitation of a life you must lead compared to someone like R.G. Armstrong. So lease make sure you conserve your beauty like the fragile flower that you are while real men will be outside in nature doing things you could only dream of in the jealous heights of your secret ambition to be a real man .

I remember listening to Burt Reynolds talking about how intimidated he was by R.G. Armstrong. He does seem like he could be a pretty intimidating fellow if he wanted to be.
I'm in tears of joy age 54
I've heard other actors including Burt Reynolds say that RG Armstong could be a genuinely scary dude when he played bad guys.
Kris Kristofferson had the same experience with RG in Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid.

When Burt hit him with that bottle in white lightning that was the most real thing I have ever seen in a movie
Give a man a chance no matter what way he is what great words

Solid character actor who could bring it!
RG is great in Major Dundie Director's edition.
You mean the extended cut ?
Or you’re talking about the theatrical version
Robin 69 sent me, and this was great!
This guy reminds me so much of my Granpop
My God. To me he is so funny. In Friday the 13th the series and Children of the corn.
He looks so much like my father who passed a few years ago. ❤
RG scares the fuck out of me.....
It must be his intensity ;-)

Are there any vids on L.Q Jones talking about Sam?
