    Hi Kay! Wasn’t sure this would work on magic loop or two 16” circulars but it does! Thought the gap between needles would mess it up but it actually helps pull the tail in. Doing my first scrappy using an idea from someone’s self striping colors. So fun!!

    That is a great suggestion, thanks! There still seems to be a bit of a jog, so I would recommend after knitting, one round in the new color, to slip the first stitch after the marker, and that will minimize the jog.

    Thank you Kay! I thought, I could do this without looking at your video…wrong!! I thought I was doing it right and then couldn’t figure out why I was getting a gap! Laughing, a duh moment! I was weaving in the wrong tail first!! Thank you again for making this so clear! It does help you if you watch and not just think you know..😅

    Wow! Kay can I just say, THIS is ingenious! Thank you Kay! My own way with scrappy sock, weave in, has always come undone when I wear them....why I haven't made many scrappy socks. This is game changer for me!

    While looking to your cast on I unknitted 2 socks! They were 2 tests that I did not like to make. So now I can start new socks that I like! So nice to see that you like EPP what I live for more than 40 years! Nederland bought kits for it, enjoy to shop for the fabrics and cut them by hand.

    I'd always heard you shouldn't weave in every stitch, to do it every other stitch. You just proved that wrong! Wow, and I've been avoiding stripes in my socks. Now I want to do some scrappy ones. Thank you! This is incredibly helpful.

      I think you can do it either way, on every stitch or every other stitch.

    This is a game changer. So to be clear. When doing this method for 8-12 stitches, I should be safe to cut the remainder and nothing will come undone?? This is brilliant. I may try my hand at scrappy socks or mitts. Thanks for sharing. :)

    Aha! Now I can make skinny stripes vs blocks of color (I’d weave ends in later).
    Used Stephen West’s method, but I think this is the one I’ll use !! Really like closing that wee gap! Thanks for this!!

    Great video! I do have a question though. I tried this with knit stitches , no problems. I can’t quite figure how to do a purl stitch without the weave being apparent. Your video’s are the best.😊

      You may need to cast on more and decrease down as you go, I’ve never made knee highs. But I would think you will need more stitches.

    This is so helpful, especially about 1 color weave per round, and start 1 stitch 'early'. Do you have suggestions for weaving ends when purling? For some reason, that's a mystery to me 😏

    Great tutorial - just a couple of things how close do you snip the yarns after weaving in the yarns - I've had problems with the yarn popping through to the front and could you also show what the inside of the sock should look like. Thanks for the tutorial I will definitely be using this technique on my next scrappy stripey socks.

      I cut the end pretty close to the sock.

    I think this method looks great! Two questions: what do you do when you change to another color from the red, do you cut the red so you won't be carrying it up the side? And in a next tutorial when you are using this method, can you show the inside of the sock? Thank you!

      Yes you cut the red and then weave it in just how I showed in this video.

    Is this secure with acrylic or slippery yarns? I tend to weave in ends in duplicate stitch because I feel like the tail will move with the fabric. But if this is just as secure and is also faster, then yay!

    I love knitting socks but not wearing them. Do you have any recommendations for very fine yarn that doesn’t itch. I like thin socks. Than you.

      Fingering weight yarn Superwash merino/nylon blend is what I recommend for socks.

    Would you wrap the same way when you knit by throw method?

      The yarn tail is still wrapped around the working yarn, regardless of the method you are using to knit.

    When I use this method my stitches are noticeably different looking. I knit English style. Do you think this is a tension issue?

      It definitely could be a tension issue in those stitches
