Hi Kay! Wasn’t sure this would work on magic loop or two 16” circulars but it does! Thought the gap between needles would mess it up but it actually helps pull the tail in. Doing my first scrappy using an idea from someone’s self striping colors. So fun!!
That is a great suggestion, thanks! There still seems to be a bit of a jog, so I would recommend after knitting, one round in the new color, to slip the first stitch after the marker, and that will minimize the jog.
While looking to your cast on I unknitted 2 socks! They were 2 tests that I did not like to make. So now I can start new socks that I like! So nice to see that you like EPP what I live for more than 40 years! Nederland bought kits for it, enjoy to shop for the fabrics and cut them by hand.
Wow! Kay can I just say, THIS is ingenious! Thank you Kay! My own way with scrappy sock, weave in, has always come undone when I wear them....why I haven't made many scrappy socks. This is game changer for me!
Thank you Kay! I thought, I could do this without looking at your video…wrong!! I thought I was doing it right and then couldn’t figure out why I was getting a gap! Laughing, a duh moment! I was weaving in the wrong tail first!! Thank you again for making this so clear! It does help you if you watch and not just think you know..😅
Absolutely Love this tutorial. It was easy to follow and I can do the contrasting colors for my Advent socks because of this video. Thank you for taking the time to make these tutorials
Your how-to videos are FANTASTIC! Would you consider doing a video on your method of knitting? I'm a thrower and would love to learn to knit the way you do.
Perfection! I don't dislike weaving in all the ends but I would rather not have too and your beautifully clear tutorial shows me I don't have too anymore. Thanks 😊
Fantastic thank you for your tutorial makes me want to try scrappy socks yours are beautiful. Love the way you weave in the ends. Very neat and tidy. 😊
I'd always heard you shouldn't weave in every stitch, to do it every other stitch. You just proved that wrong! Wow, and I've been avoiding stripes in my socks. Now I want to do some scrappy ones. Thank you! This is incredibly helpful.
Thanks so much for this video and I'm going to watch it again, as it takes more than once for me to absorb things anymore at my age. I appreciate this, Kay. Thank you. I've been waiting for this video.
This is exactly how i have interpreted the weavin’ Stephen. So glad it works for socks too. thanks for sharing. thanks for the tip about how to avoid the gap. I wouldn’t have thought of that. Happy Thanksgiving!!
This is how I have been doing my socks and mittens for quite some time now, it's perfect for people like myself that don't like to weave in all of those ends. ❤
I love your podcasts great inspiration and tips...Question....how long are your needle tips when you do magic loop .....im using 3 inch and find them a bit short
Great video! I do have a question though. I tried this with knit stitches , no problems. I can’t quite figure how to do a purl stitch without the weave being apparent. Your video’s are the best.😊
This is a game changer. So to be clear. When doing this method for 8-12 stitches, I should be safe to cut the remainder and nothing will come undone?? This is brilliant. I may try my hand at scrappy socks or mitts. Thanks for sharing. :)
Aha! Now I can make skinny stripes vs blocks of color (I’d weave ends in later). Used Stephen West’s method, but I think this is the one I’ll use !! Really like closing that wee gap! Thanks for this!!
Yayyy now I can do scrappy stripey without being scared 🤣 do you just cut the excess tails once you've weaved them in? Just wanna make sure I don't screw it up!
Great tutorial - just a couple of things how close do you snip the yarns after weaving in the yarns - I've had problems with the yarn popping through to the front and could you also show what the inside of the sock should look like. Thanks for the tutorial I will definitely be using this technique on my next scrappy stripey socks.
Is this secure with acrylic or slippery yarns? I tend to weave in ends in duplicate stitch because I feel like the tail will move with the fabric. But if this is just as secure and is also faster, then yay!
I think this method looks great! Two questions: what do you do when you change to another color from the red, do you cut the red so you won't be carrying it up the side? And in a next tutorial when you are using this method, can you show the inside of the sock? Thank you!
This is so helpful, especially about 1 color weave per round, and start 1 stitch 'early'. Do you have suggestions for weaving ends when purling? For some reason, that's a mystery to me 😏
Seriously it’s this easy????? Why have I always been so intimidated?! Thanks Kay!!!! This looks so easy!!!

Thank you Kay. This is a great way to weave in the ends as you go.
Awesome-ness, as usual! Thanks, my friend. Peace, Jackie

I’m not bothered by jogs, but thanks for the tip ♥️
Thank you, thank you, thank you 🙌 it looks so beautiful too.
Thank you so MUCH Kay! I am so glad I learned this from you, thank you for sharing!
Thank you for this! I have avoided scrappy socks because of all the ends. Now, I will definitely be doing this.

This will help me get over my avoidance of stripey scrappy socks! The idea of weaving in all the ends was daunting. Thanks!

Will look forward to trying this out on a pair of scrappy socks. 🇬🇧
Thank You so much Kay! Two GREAT tutorials in one day….❤️
Thanks for the tutorial, very helpful!. Love the scrappy, stripey gray sock!
I've been using the Weavin' Stephen method for a long time now. Works great.
Thank you for this tutorial. I’ve already started using your technique….love it!!!!🧶
Stoked about this one!! Makes me feel better about weaving as I go, with the tricks to keep the gap from happening! 😊 thank you!
Love it! Newbee here, eager to learn. Thank you.

Hi Kay, OMGoodness, you make it so simple to do. Thank you for all you do for the knitting community. 🧶
Thank you for this genius idea on weaving in bds without gaps. ❤😊
Thank you for this! What a useful tutorial.
Fantastic thank you for your tutorial makes me want to try scrappy socks yours are beautiful. Love the way you weave in the ends. Very neat and tidy. 😊

I got your vanilla sock video ready to knit my 1st pair of socks & this helpful tip came right on time. Thanks for sharing🤗
Nice video, good timing, thanks Kay!
Extremely helpful video! Thank you!
I'd always heard you shouldn't weave in every stitch, to do it every other stitch. You just proved that wrong! Wow, and I've been avoiding stripes in my socks. Now I want to do some scrappy ones. Thank you! This is incredibly helpful.
I think you can do it either way, on every stitch or every other stitch.
Thanks so much for this video and I'm going to watch it again, as it takes more than once for me to absorb things anymore at my age. I appreciate this, Kay. Thank you. I've been waiting for this video.

thank you! great idea. will def be trying it.
Awesome! I always weave in as I go when I crochet, but never knew how to do it as I knitted!! Thank you so much for the tutorial
This was a HUGE help for me today, I am so excited to keep using it!
🧦I’m so excited to do this. Thank you so much.
Most excellent tutorial!! Thank you. I love scrappy stripy socks but hate all the ends. This totally solves the problem!
Thank you Kay! I just got 2 kits of scrappy stripy socks for my birthday, before my tails started to pile up now I know how take care the strings!
Ooh Love this technique! Thanks for another tip!
This is how I have been doing my socks and mittens for quite some time now, it's perfect for people like myself that don't like to weave in all of those ends. ❤
Thanks for the video. I’ll use this technique when I knit my grand daughter’s second sock with strips.
Thank you so much!❤
Thank you....I want to try stripey socks. Great video!
Wonderful tutorial!
Very helpful video! Thank you!
Thank you for another great tutorial! Happy Thanksgiving!
Thank you! Very helpful ‼️😊
I need to do this Ty.
Thank you so much 🥰
I love your podcasts great inspiration and tips...Question....how long are your needle tips when you do magic loop .....im using 3 inch and find them a bit short
This is gonna help me so much!
Great video! I do have a question though. I tried this with knit stitches , no problems. I can’t quite figure how to do a purl stitch without the weave being apparent. Your video’s are the best.😊
Oh my gosh, just watched the pop of color video and saw how to do the weave with the purl stitch. Now must just remember.
Thank you 💐
Very helpful. Thank you
Sooooooooooooo helpful! Thank you!
Pretty jogless too!!!
Hi Kay! Happy Thanksgiving! My mom & I are driving down past your neck of the woods today to visit my sister’s family. Thx for another helpful tip!
Have a safe trip and happy thanksgiving!
This is a game changer. So to be clear. When doing this method for 8-12 stitches, I should be safe to cut the remainder and nothing will come undone?? This is brilliant. I may try my hand at scrappy socks or mitts. Thanks for sharing. :)
I’ve never had anything come undone on mine 🩷
Aha! Now I can make skinny stripes vs blocks of color (I’d weave ends in later).
Used Stephen West’s method, but I think this is the one I’ll use !! Really like closing that wee gap! Thanks for this!!
Thank you Kay! Thus helps so much. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family 🦃
That is awesome!!!
I luv this method especially your tip for closing the gap! Do you use this method when starting a new ball of yarn (in the same)?
Yep, you can
Sooo helpful!! Thank you!!
Thank you so much! I’ve been wanting to do your scrappy stripy socks but I LOATHEEEE weaving in ends. Will try this out!
This was so helpful! Thank you!!
Thank you was very helpful
Can you do this method when knitting lace?
Very helpful!
Thanks for the tip.
Thank you Kay very much. I like my socks knee high do you just kept on knitting until the socks are to the knees before you start the heel?
You may need to cast on more and decrease down as you go, I’ve never made knee highs. But I would think you will need more stitches.
Yayyy now I can do scrappy stripey without being scared 🤣 do you just cut the excess tails once you've weaved them in? Just wanna make sure I don't screw it up!
Do you think this would work for the Sea Glass Sweater/Tee as well? I love that pattern but all the ends scare me 😄
Can I do this on any project, like for a sweater I'm working on now?
Yep
Great tutorial - just a couple of things how close do you snip the yarns after weaving in the yarns - I've had problems with the yarn popping through to the front and could you also show what the inside of the sock should look like. Thanks for the tutorial I will definitely be using this technique on my next scrappy stripey socks.
I cut the end pretty close to the sock.
Is this secure with acrylic or slippery yarns? I tend to weave in ends in duplicate stitch because I feel like the tail will move with the fabric. But if this is just as secure and is also faster, then yay!
I haven’t had any issues. You can always try it and see if it works for you. ❤️
Do you do anything to prevent the “jog” when adding the new color? Really liked this video.
Nope, I’m not bothered by it.
@@CrazySockLady Same here - love your approach!
Do you use a smaller needle size on your cuffs? 😊
Nope
I think this method looks great! Two questions: what do you do when you change to another color from the red, do you cut the red so you won't be carrying it up the side? And in a next tutorial when you are using this method, can you show the inside of the sock? Thank you!
Yes you cut the red and then weave it in just how I showed in this video.
@@CrazySockLady I enjoyed your video tremendously and am subscribing to be able to enjoy more and learn more. Thank you so much!
I love knitting socks but not wearing them. Do you have any recommendations for very fine yarn that doesn’t itch. I like thin socks. Than you.
Fingering weight yarn Superwash merino/nylon blend is what I recommend for socks.
How would I determine the length of the foot for socks based on the shoe size?
Google shoe sizes in inches.
Thank you so much!👍🏻
This is so helpful, especially about 1 color weave per round, and start 1 stitch 'early'. Do you have suggestions for weaving ends when purling? For some reason, that's a mystery to me 😏
Check out the pop of color at the cuff tutorial, I show how to do it when purling in that tutorial. ♥️
Would you wrap the same way when you knit by throw method?
The yarn tail is still wrapped around the working yarn, regardless of the method you are using to knit.
@@CrazySockLady thanks. Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃
When I use this method my stitches are noticeably different looking. I knit English style. Do you think this is a tension issue?
It definitely could be a tension issue in those stitches
Can do this with a purl stitch
Yep, check out the pop of color at the cuff video. I show it there.
@@CrazySockLady thanks, I must have not watched that tutorial until the end
