Loved the additional looks from '94 and '99! I remember the Times Union ran a big first page story in like 1997 talking about the expansion plans. It was hard to believe back then but the Pyramid Cos were on a roll and malls were more or less at their peak powers
This is great! I love going to the mall (don't let them die) but I also sympathize with those worried about overdevelopment. That's a HUGE problem where I live these days. It's too bad the mall couldn't include an on-site garden to help preserve the natural environment around it.
It was legal to smoke in malls back in the day. The salespeople in the appliance department at Sears in Colonie Center would smoke while selling you a washer and dryer. They would toss their butts on the floor and the janitor would come by at night and sweep them up.
I love this kind of content.

Dang Miles Obrien I knew he served on the Enterprise D and DS9 but didn't know he was also a local news reporter!
I knew that voice was familiar! Enjoy watching Miles, today. Usually on PBS NewsHour
I was born in Troy 3 years later
Why don’t you report on how the pine bush area looked before the mall and the irreversible impact on the local ecosystem?
The controversy over the Pine Bush is addressed in the very first part of the video.
