i'm now 58, but when i was in my early 20s, WE USED TO JAM THE HELLLLLL OUTTA THIS at all the downtown clubs. I mean when the dj dropped the needle on this, people almost looked panicked for a dance partner, and oftentimes a QUICK agreement was made while walking and BAM two people who didn't know each other got to test that bodytalk. Ladies in something colorful, soft and silky - guys in a blazer with an open white shirt, slacks and low pro dress shoes. Damn, that seems so old fashioned compared to what club goers wear today...guys in tennis, tees & baseball caps, girls in lycra & heels. I live in a metropolitan downtown area and that's what i see. nostalgia can be tricky when one tries to recollect the past, but in the olden days, our attire WAS NEVER casual to the point is is today. WE DRESSED and LOOKED the part, having nothing but a 20 spot in the pocket, but looking like a million. i think we emulated class and distinction, and wanted to be a part of that mark. but tennis & tees? your ass would be behind the rope that was BEHIND the velvet rope! LOL
It's all a matter of tastes. Yours could be completely different from mine, but neither is wrong. And some people drop crazy money on sneakers and get them customized. So jeans, tees, and sneakers could represent money too.
Money doesn't necessarily mean that a person has class , or self respect. This is a quality that has to be taught and developed. Has nothing to do with money. IMO
Same here, it's weird how people of our generation would always jam to both our generation's music and our parents music. It wasn't weird hearing teens jamming to some of that funk or just crussin' to some oldies.
What a groovy beat in the early '80s. Was 38 yrs old at that time and dancing like I was 19. Music like this is always the one for me, even now at 78.(ls69freestyle)
back when WE HAD MONSTERS IN MUSIC such as Michael Jackson, Prince, Rick James, Morris Day and the Time, D-Train.. damn will we ever see talent like this again??
It will either never happen or maybe a while from now. I'm sooooo mad that it's all about this nonsense mainstream rap and pop music, when clearly music made 10 or more years ago had more meaning and substance. It's such a shame where music is heading nowadays, smh.

Massive roller skating tune back in 81 / 82 . Can remember me and the rest of the Nottingham crew kicking out the back foot skating to this at various roller discos all over Notts, Derby, Leicester and Brixton :) haha
Thanks for posting one of the best songs to dance/skate to ever. This might even beat out "Planet Rock." Great groove, great vocals, great, great, great.
I was 2 years old when this song came out in 1982. Just wish I was older so I could really appreciate but now it is a classic. Also would have loved to have been at Soul Train when he performed his hits.
Way before it's time, Music didn't sound like this in 1981, there was still a lot of late Disco going on in 1981, wasn't until 1983 before Electro Funk was everywhere.
Been listening to D train since I was 10 years old! From the block parties and cook outs in Brooklyn! I’m in my 40’s now and I appreciate there songs. The nostalgia of those days are incredible! Hopefully they will tour I be the first to buy a ticket!
Jah know star. These songs bring me back to the good old days. Can't believe songs have turned to such garbage in such a short time. Someone please start making good songs for this generation to appreciate, cause they have truly been robbed.
I play this groovin' song over & over--I love tunes that make me MOVE!! D-Train's sound is just what I need--Funk, Neo-Disco (for me in this "Age", today), & uplifting lyrics. Total JOY!!!!
I couldn't stop listening to it. It is almost 5 years since you're are gone daddy and this, besides all other things that really made you beloved by anyone, is all i have that really makes me remember you in your best times. Thanks for all.

Rafters in Toga. It was the August place to be. I was standing 5 feet from McFadden & Whitehead as they partied up in the DJ booth. The place was on F I R E 🔥 and there was Ain't no stoppin' Us...🎼🕺🎼💯✌🌁
Listen to this sort of music on vinyl and its very warm, punchy and satisfying. I use my dads 1977 Hi-Fi. Its like stepping back in time when your play records on it. You can buy old Hi-Fi for cheap - I recommend it if your thinking of trying out some vinyl.
Fantastic track, best era ever nothing like the buzz getting ready to go clubbing till 6am getting down to these classics music was music back then but for me these never get old i do lol
How on earth did she do that mate? ; ) I SO love this song! Bassline cold, corny lyrics kill it, the bridge harmonies just fill me with mid 80s soul nostalgia!
