    I've been trying to learn this style for a while and your lesson explains the concept so simply. I see it a lot in the contemporary gospel organists and keyboard players. I really appreciate it! It's time to shed this.

    WOW. I have been stuck making a decision about signing up for your on line course. I guess I was intimidated. Watching this lesson, seeing the amount of learning you include and your easy style and personality has helped me decide-it's time.

    I like your videos. Not too much blabla, like in so many, many other videos. You manage it very well, to come to the point in view time ("2 minute-jazz", great!). Sometimes a little bit too fast for me. But that might be due to my knowledge and abilities.
    Keep on going!

    Bro your dope man. I’ve been checking out a couple of your videos. I’m a well experience pianist myself. But watching your videos is definitely helping me with more ideas because I get bored hearing myself at times especially coming from a area when your one of the greatest around. That’s not arrogance I hate it actually because it’s nothing to challenge you.

  • @popwittenino7411

    would you elaborate on the "fun part"? namely the part where you move the chords very fast probably chromatically?
    you do that in several of your videos and I'm fascinated by that.

    • @crono303
      @crono303 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +pop wittenino I don't know if you're still curious, but I just wrote down some of the "fun part," so I thought I'd share.
      2:44 The progression is Bbmin7 to Eb7, so he does a So What chord starting on Eb (Eb-Ab-Db-F) and takes it down two half steps. Then he plays A7, which is the tritone sub of Eb7, which resolves to Ab at 2:48.
      2:49, instead of just playing the normal Abmaj7, he plays Abdim7 with a major 7 and then resolves to the regular Abmaj7. So Abdim7, LH (Ab-G-Ab) RH (B-D) to the regular Abmaj7, LH (Ab-Ab-Bb) RH (C-Eb).
      2:53 is a similar idea, this time it's Ebmaj7#11 to normal Ebmaj7. LH (Eb-A) RH (D-A) to LH (Eb-Bb-C) RH (D-Eb-Bb).
      Hope that helps some. It caught my ear, too!

    • @popwittenino7411
      @popwittenino7411 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +William Doran omg thank you so much. Definitely you can do something that I cant. yeah this is very effective in extending your chordal vocabulary.
      I'll work on it. But how about 2:35 and 2:37? Did you transcribe it? Thank you again

    • @crono303
      @crono303 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +pop wittenino 2:35 is a Cmin9 chord, then C7b9 to F7. So he slides the Cmin9 voicing up a half step and then back down.
      Bottom to top: Eb-G-Bb-D to E-G#-B-D# to Eb-G-Bb-D, then C7alt (C-E-Ab-Db).
      2:37 I think is a similar idea but with F7#11. He slides down a half step then back up. Eb-A-B-D to D-G#-A#-C# to Eb-A-B-D.
      Then it resolves to Bb7sus (Ab-Bb-C-Eb, he hits a Bb right after) to Bb7b9,13 (Bb-G-Ab-B-D).
      Hope that makes sense. It seems like he's taking a rootless voicing and sliding it around. He also likes doing Bbsus to Bb7b9,13. Like at 1:04, 2:01, 2:38.

      @popwittenino7411 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +William Doran You are a great guy. You must be pro or teacher or something like that. I guess these kinds of things are so internalized for Peter Martin that he doen't remember doing it or he can't explain himself. Anyway this will keep me busy for weeks. Thank you so much

    • @crono303
      @crono303 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      pop wittenino No problem! I actually am a jazz pianist and a teacher, so that's a good guess! Hope you find some cool sounds in your practicing.

    It sounds great but you know, for most of us its just too hard. An easier way us to play the root in the bass, rocking between octaves, the melody on top in the right hand and then thirds, sevenths (or sometimes both), also in the right hand. The result is great.
