  • Arina Averina, Dina Averina, Boryana Kaleyn, Lala Kramarenko
    Ball, clubs and ribbon will follow soon!
    Score: Total / Difficulty / Execution (ET / EA)
    Arina Averina 19.9 / 12.2 / 7.7 (1.8 / 0.5) (2)
    Dina Averina 18.1 / 11.0 / 7.1 (2.2 / 0.7) (4)
    Boryana Kaleyn 20.9 / 13.7 / 7.2 (2.6 / 0.2) (1)
    Lala Kramarenko 19.8 / 12.0 / 7.8 (2.0 / 0.2) (3)
    No Character penalty here, though it would probably be a
    Arina Averina: the character is clear and present in a majority of elements. 0.1 (?)
    Dina Averina: the character is clear and present in a majority of elements. 0.1 (?)
    Boryana Kaleyn: the character is clear and present in a majority of elements. 0.1 (?)
    Lala Kramarenko: apart from the Dance steps, I do not see a clear character. 0.5
    I am still annoyed by the missing penalty for ''A defined character is present during the Dance Steps Combination. A defined character is present between or during some of the connecting elements and movements (not the majority!)''

    Dont get me wrong, but Averinas would never reach such high scores if judges really penalised all the ADs out of nowhere and lack of clean executions in general. In some series, Dina seems to be desperately running against time to fit all the ADs (sometimes it looks like she’s roughly improvising everything). I admit they have great potential, but I get super disappointed when I see scores like 28.

    The mask clips lmao i'm dying. I think if Arina does all her routines clean then no one can touch her scores honestly. Dina is seriously over scored though and it seems like with her injuries she's getting messier and is trying to play catch up which is sad. I wish health for all the gymnasts.

    This is like going back to school for covid virtual class :) ........ and I love it. "balance is not held for 1 second" penalty makes me wonder why they don't remove it entirely from their routines, but the judges seam to tolerate it and close their eyes whenever it suits the medal distribution.

    I think Dina is burned out, I feel sorry for the poor girl. She looks exhausted in the carpet and not enjoying it anymore. Where are her BD, she used to have good ones. Now all she does is throw and catch. My theory is that Viner sees this and is pushing poor Arina to the limit to take Dina's place as number one, the thing is, even though I always thought of Arina as the best twin (she is more clean and more artistic than her sister imo, and her routines were always underrated to favour Dina), she can't handle pressure that well: she stepped into the carpet in tears after the mistake she made in her clubs (that routine is fantastic, memorable imo). I really like Lala, the girl has perdonality and killer BDs. Always a joy to see Bory, Bulgaaria's artistry is indeniable and it was refreshing to see her take down Russians in their own ground hehe. Anyways, too long of a comment, keep doing these videos, Clematis, always happy to find the on my feed xoxo

    I've always just sort of considered scores at the RU national champ (and to a lesser extent, the Moscow GP) to be something like aspirational. As if the judging was less judgy and more of a here's what this gymnast *could* get if we squint and give her the benefit of the doubt.
    And tbh, I don't necessarily mind some of it. It seems very few int'l judges are applying the 1-second hold , looking at leap position, etc, (and nevermind catches in rotation...). But if it's going to be consistently ignored, then FIG really ought to update the criteria to reflect what judges are actually capable of catching in real time.
    I'm not sure how anyone is expected to keep track of the current strategy of jamming as many elements as humanly possible into every moment of every routine when the CoP allows improvisation to save a skill gone slightly awry. Maybe FIG could consider something like what ISU did in figure skating and introduce some kind of video replay for risks or particular high-value elements that go by too fast for judges to catch. Idk, really, I just want to see the sport I love be treated by judges with as much care as you show in your videos. Thanks for all you do!

    • @ClematisRGVideos
      @ClematisRGVideos  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I also don't mind the type of judging for this "less" important events, it's not the Worlds Championships after all. But "if it's going to be consistently ignored, then FIG really ought to update the criteria to reflect what judges are actually capable of catching in real time.": you totally express my concerns here.

      I won't be surprised if they receive the scoreboard of gymnast's routine under the table. It is one thing to close your eyes for some mistakes but totally different story to credit elements which were not performed by the gymnast. They either have the scoreboard prepared unofficially or they know the routines by heart.

    Thanks for that scissor jump clip! I was aware of the travesty of cabriole but Dina’s scissors is so atrocious that it is unrecognizable such.
    For a palate cleanse, you can see Tchachina’s scissor jump in Athens. Bessonova and Kabaeva also did the element. (They all did it with half a turn and a ring position of the second kicker leg). Obviously, only Tchachina (IMO the best gymnast ever) did it as a full jump, looking like she levitated and landing light on her feet as always - the other two looked like a sack of potatoes with the first leg landing heavily and sloppily before the second leg had finished kicking.

    Fans are saying the code is the problem. No. Some judges are the problem! I'm sorry, the scores given at GP Moscow aren't a problem of slow-motion, time, lack of technology however you want to excuse it. It's a fucking judges problem. Except some pivots for which the slow-motion was really useful, everything, difficulty and mistakes were visible in real time. I can't believe some fake AD are given point, I can't believe nobody care about the 1 second rule, and I can't believe basics rules of the code are forgotten. It's unbelievable. Even someone who know nothing about the sport can see the problem in the results. People complain about routines being all throws and catches now, I'm sure we wouldn't see so much throws and catches if the points were correctly given... sad
    That said and to bright the mood, I wish every gymnasts a great season and the best of the best in Tokyo. After such a hard time, I hope they all can snatch a bit of happiness at their dream competition, the reason why they trained so hard all these years.

    thanks for this video and it's great to have your explanations at the end of the analysis! about Boryana's fouettés: why do her handlings always look so similar? I think her coaches play on the fact she is performing multiple rotations and just let her repeat the handling for several times (I am referring to transmissions hand to hand mostly) before changing it, this happens with all apparatus 😩

    i think arina's first risk at the very beginning of her routine is actually an R5.
    the poor scissor and cabriole, everyone doing combination pivots without completing the base rotation, no one holding the "easy" balances for AD criteria, and not performing apparatus handling when BD shape is fixed are definitely my biggest pet peeves of 2020-2021. like in ribbon, no one should be getting credit for any BD/AD combos with 2 rushed spirals

  • @QQ-wl6yt
    @QQ-wl6yt 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    These AD elements that supposedly combine a BD piece (catch or throw during balance) are maybe the worst elements of this code of points. Especially those horrible cabrioles.
    Just as absurd, though - that they can do a silly, little BD element and suddenly the pathetic little “AD” is worth all that much more. What is the point of having just 9 BD if they are going to include another 10 (or whatever) silly BD’s to rack up the “difficulty”?
    A critical correction for this version of the code of points before this sport goes completely down the drain: set a fix number of BD elements (so 15 or whatever makes sense) so that they will actually incentivize the top gymnasts to perform the highest possible BD elements, instead of this messy mix that is neither impressive in BD or AD.

      Probably because they got -0.3 everytime a balance is not held for 1 second, which is nearly always...so it can go down very quickly even if the performance looks clean. To be honest the four performances look kind of great, at least 8.50 in execution, but if you have, like 3 balances not hold for 1 second, that's already -0.9 on your execution score.

Judges look for Apparatus handling being performed in shape, then 1 full second is counted, but if the apparatus handling is not correctly coordinated when the shape is displayed, you could even have the balance held for 5 seconds, but the handling happening too late, when the shape is not there anymore and get the penalty for balance not held for a min. 1 sec
