This is a great lesson!! All my grandparents came from Denmark (I'm American), and I've *always* wanted to learn to speak Danish. I'm normally good at learning languages, but Danish is usually pronounced so softly that I have trouble hearing the sounds clearly. You really make it clear! Mange tak!
Why did I watch this when I don't even have a Danish person to flirt with lol this was good tho I really liked it. I like to hear people speak their language.
Even if you are not looking for these exact instances, everything is worthy of learning. Thank you for taking your time out to teach us. I am travelling to Danmark this year for the first time, and need all the help I can get. Mange Tak!
Helpful and a piece of my culture I have never had a chance to learn about I’m a 4th danish but my grandfather never taught me his language I wish he would have
Love the video! Cute story, my grandfather was from the U.S and my grandmother from Canada and when they met they didn't speak the same language! But fell in love so easily. He use to fly helicopters from New York to Canada to visit her.
Thank you for the Danish lessons! :-D I've been "learning" German (by listening to a band called Eisbrecher, lol) and I find it very similar to Swedish with some occasional similarities to Danish. I suck at actually saying anything correctly, but having enough knowledge & understanding to at least read/write a few words & phrases with some marginal degree of competence is still useful. :-)
+Elise Buch Look: 1. Du er klog = Du bist klug. 2. Vil du...? = Willst du...? 3. Himlen = Himmel, 4. Er du religiøs? = Bist du religiös? (You pronounce ø most of the time like the German ö), 5. Telefonnummer is exactly the same word. Just a few examples to show you what I mean. :)
I'll visit Denmark (especially Odense, maybe I can find more tips on your great channel haha) for a couple of weeks, and this video helps, but I especially like the enthusiasm and look on your face at 4:50 - du er sød as well :P
I have actually been asked, "did you hurt when you fell from heaven." and i replied, not kidding this was my honest knee jerk reaction, i said, "No, it was a pain in the ass crawling out of hell." and my best friend who was with me (we were at a local bar) laughed so hard she fell off her barstool. I will say that i was really proud of myself for a moment. they guy looked a little taken aback. i dont think he was expecting that comment. XD
Subscribed because you gave an important tip about not complimenting too much! :p im talking/flirting with this danish guy i met online and whenever i compliment him he seems uneasy and that always makes me uneasy!! now i finally know why!!!! thanks girrl!!!!
Tak! my Danish girlfriend, Lisbeth, has been very impressed by my efforts to speak to her in Danish, and I have you to thank for the help, again, thank you!
I´m from Germany an it is so funny, some words are exactly like ours (like "telefonnummer") and some I can´t understand without a translation :) And tank you for your wonderfull Videos, I like the positivity you have!
I don't think any Americans are watching haha. 90% of the world call it football. The reason why there are regional differences is because there are local games named football. Like Australian football, American football, and even Gaelic (Irish) football where I am from! Thank you for this video! I am British and I have a Danish girlfriend and I visit Denmark as often as I can and I have fallen in love with the country too! Thank you for taking the time to make this video ^.^
Thank you for those words. Now do you happen to have an extra nice, kind, intelligent and gorgeous Danish guy I could use them on ? My dum joking aside, this was a great video. I really enjoyed it ..... and you looked so beautiful here… But of course you always do
Yay - another Danish lesson! :D I think my favourite word is "sød" - it sounds so cute! Btw, I received the harem pants that I ordered from your Etsy shop yesterday and I love them... :)
Im so glad im considered very unclingy or needy in America , have a gorgeous danish Gf, and its a completely different way of dating , every thing is fair and even.. I learned how to speak danish and learned the danish ways of dating and when i told my gf these cheesy pick up lines she just laughed and blushed, but i would not recommend going up to a Dane saying these pick up lines if you dont know them well haha .. Our first date was social going to a friends party together and i had no clue about the danish culture at the time so good thing i didnt ask her to dinner on the first date but she has mention the " Jeg elsker dig" after a while of dating
Hej Elise. Mvh. Linnéa.
Jeg synes Kim Larsen er den bedste spillemanden overall, since I was little kid, the first song I heard was Rita. I can sing Kvinde min in my sleep, its the best song ever made haha, sorry for my bad danish but im interested in learning more as I personally find danish to be actually the most attractive language. Blessings from Sweden haha:-)
I think I arrived a bit late, I am in the process to learn Danish I would love to hear the y pronunciation, please any suggestions for vows? Would be appreciated Thank you sooooo much
About the pick-up lines; there is a dutch television show in which some guys have to do or say what other guys tell them to. And one of the missions was to get the telephone number of a girl by using a pick-up line they were told. They would only get a point if they got the number. One of them did actually accomplish it. xD
I have to be married if I ever visit Iceland, my name is Eric pronounced with a hard “C” so it’s Ericsson. All I have to do with their women’s pick up line is say, “Do you speak norsk? It’s going to happen eventually”.
Elise, tell me: I've heard that danish women are generally shy. In what situations can a man ask a danish girl to go out with him? Do I have to wait how much time? What signals can I expect if a girl from Denmark is liking me? You could start making sentimental advices in general to your followers... That could be funny... :) Love you and your videos!
The innocent spirit flowing here is enchanting and the beautiful face, but it is so well done it makes you want to go there, and her other one on how Danes are egalitarian made me sure, my ancestors are Norwegain,me US and it went worse, a semi retired professor who wants to escape Asia too, I would enjoy meeting Elise for tea, and discussing how she did it, and collaborating on expanded themes, todd saed at youtube has my music videos, click on the big green T, more coming, for intros.....

In the US, you would never use the word "date" when asking a girl out either. That's way too awkward and ovious. You would just ask the girl if she wants to go to see a movie, have coffee, to dinner etc.
Another cheasy pick up line "hvor meget vejer isbjørnen? Nok til at bryde isen" which means "how much does the polarbear weigh? Enough to break the ice" 😂😂
in greece i was using this> can you give me a glass of water cause i'm so hungry that i don't have where to sleep tonight...can i sleep with you after dinner???
Ok I subbed I live here but my struggle with Danish is a losing proposition. So if an inappropriately elderly clearly crazed Asian American ever approaches you with one of these lines and manages to pronounce them in a deciperable way then don't worry it's just me.
I have a girlfriend in Denmark and I'm trying to learn Danish to surprise her one day so this was really helpful, thank you!
That's so lovely!
Haha that’s so cute, I’m also from Denmark 😊
Jacqline Endsgaard jacqline I love your accent then.....👍

Love the video, Elise! Even though I don't have no serious intentions of learning the language I love following along :D
It's so similar to the German language. I can't understand a lot when you're speaking Danish but I can understand a lot just by reading it.
+Laura Rübezahl I don't agree. I don't understand German at all 😂

Yay, 😹😹 I am going to learn and use these cheap pick up lines on my Danish bf. And make him laugh
my boyfriend just used the telephone number line on me
it worked
I have to be married if I ever visit Iceland, my name is Eric pronounced with a hard “C” so it’s Ericsson. All I have to do with their women’s pick up line is say, “Do you speak norsk? It’s going to happen eventually”.

Where did you learn to speak English so well? You would be an excellent translator Elise!
Danish people are good looking but quite mysterious.I love listening danishes speak in English because they sound cute
I watch this Show Wild N Out. They played a game where they use pick up lines on girls and they're all funny.
