There are two kinds of good villains, the ones who have a good umm 'moral' kinda like pain, like u understand where they come from even if u dont agree with what they do...and then there are the ones who are technically comic book stereotypes but only when they really manage to personify their malice like madara
Madara wasn't a comic book stereotype of evil for "evil's sake" villain either though. He was the same as Obito. He was trying to get rid of everyone's pain and all suffering and war the only way he knew how, the infinite tsukuyomi genjutsu. Orochimaru is probably the closest comic book stereotype villain that Naruto has.
18:24 "he just serves it right back". made me remember that scene naruto launched himself toward madara with a bijuu bomb, and he just casually absorbs it with his gunbai or war fan and served it right back at him with a cheeky smile on his face
I understand both obito and naruto's side.. its really reflecting one's experiences and personality against some scenarios like this.. its just that naruto's pride is annoying.. for obito his reasons are right but his answer his wrong.. i guess sometimes.. the typical us.. always acknowledging the right vs wrong without understanding the reason why it came up..
And that could explain why Obito turned verbaly aggressive towards Naruto. He kept spreading "I won't let my comrades die" stuff and Obito took it too personal cause from his perspective, Naruto was kidding him and he decided to shut his mouth with a cruel act that result on Neji's death.
Imo it is okay for Naruto to not like Obitos opinion. He doesn't have to like it and he is free to say so. The point which makes Obito the antagonist is, that he wants to force his ideals on everyone. Naruto doesn't force his ideals, but tries to percuate people (talk no jutsu) with facts and understanding and let's them disagree afterwards. Most of his opponients/enemies where changed because Naruto was very determant (Neji, Gaara, Itachi, Nagato, Konan). Hell he even understands Sasuke's feelings and inentions, but he told him that, if it would come to an attack on the leaf village, he would have to fight Sasuke on the battlefield because then Sasuke would be the aggressor and kill people who aren't even involved in the mess his Clan was put in.
I dont care what anybody says, this is one of the best episodes of Shippuden. This is some AOT episode shit. So many unexpected deaths. This is what war supposed to really look like.

Ahhh obitos English voice actor is soooooooooooo good, idc I think it's better than the Japanese version, his speech in this episode is one of my favorites
I’m still not a fan of Neji’s death here. Because he didn’t get a huge or even decent amount of screen time in Shippuden (even one of the Omakes makes fun of this), his death doesn’t really feel as emotional or impactful as it should be. It feels more random than anything else. I did get spoiled on it but I didn’t know how it would happen. One could argue and say that this was the point of his death to show Naruto the reality of war with the unexpected happening but to me, it felt more like they realised they hadn’t killed any of the Konoha 11 at this point and then decided to pick one out of a hat without putting much thought into it. I think it would have worked more effectively had they executed this in a much better way. The only bit of screen time that Neji got in Shippuden was in the rescue arc but what he did in there wasn’t nearly as substantial as the last meaningful thing he did which was in the original Naruto series with the Sasuke Retrieval arc where his character essentially put his life on the line for the mission and seemingly “died” for a good couple of episodes. I genuinely wish he would have died there instead if they were always planning to go this route for him but even now, I’m still struggling to understand the purpose of it since Neji hasn’t been relevant for a long while? Neji could have at least done something more worthwhile before dying in the war. I don’t think he needed to die to break free from the curse or even follow in his father’s footsteps either as he was already striving for freedom and a better path after Naruto opened his eyes back then. But apparently his death was done to further push Naruto and Hinata together but this still could have easily been done without Neji’s death. Considering what happened in the Pain arc with Hinata protecting Naruto, those events alone should have already brought Naruto and Hinata closer as she confessed her love to him with conviction but they don’t even get together until the last movie anyway so I still fail to see how his death pushed them together when it still takes a long while for Naruto to finally see Hinata that way? I mean it’s nice to see Kurama and Hinata support Naruto but Neji’s death does absolutely nothing for me and that’s the frustrating part of it. I can’t help but feel that other characters like Guy would have had more of an impact had he died (for the later stage of this arc in particular where he nearly does).
I mean, Naruto isn't a happy story where justice prevails. Many antagonists fought for justice and the good guys fought for peace. Guy shouldn't die in this war since random villain could reanimate him later on and the world would be screwed (he had no idea how to undo the contract).
Probably the weakest writting point for Kishimoto. Unecessary death only done, cause people were already catching on the fact that no one died. So he offed the expendables. Kinda sucks considering how fun Neji is in Naruto SD. I genuinely wish he went for young Ino-Shika-Cho, Sai, Hinata or even Rock - they were more developed and made more sense to off. And if we are gonna end Neji, at least write it properly. A bunch of sticks? Really? For a dude that tanked arrows in his blind spot? I would rather take being crashed by Ten-Tails tail or something. Also the nerve that Kiba is still alive at the end of this...
If anyone were to die it would be Neji, it's actually the best ending for his character, the issue with it was that no spotlight was on Neji at all in shippuden. If we had spent time with him in the story, this death wouldn't have felt so out of nowhere. Neji dieing I love, just sucks that it wasn't backed by any storytime anywhere in shippuden (like shikamaru).
@@Kevdaillest I don't even have issues with Neji necessarily dying - cause it did work out especially for Boruto. But he did need a well written death.
@@mjm3091 Yeah, I'm claiming his death was well written 😂, he sacrificed himself to protect hinata and naruto. If you're talking about the manner of how it happened, they aren't just "some sticks" they are huge spear like projectiles coming out of the ten tails in insane numbers, that overwhelmed a much much stronger (Neji, Hinata, and Hiyashi) Hyuga's byakugan and attacks (rotation and airpalms). Compared to just getting shot by some kunais and a single arrow, fired from a guy who child Neji killed. Those two encounters aren't comparable at all to each other in no way shape or form. Also from a story stand point, Neji's death impacted Naruto, hinata, and Obito's characters, just sucks we weren't giving that for Neji himself which is the issue with this death decision.
@@goranstojanov1160 "always" yeah sure Jan. Being rashed doesn't mean the writting has to be wonky, especially on such important scenes. It's called having an opinion, not "spreading misinformation". Also please learn how to use space and fix your spelling, it's hard to read and it's considered rude to use uppercase words - it's discussion, not scream-off.
@@Kevdaillest yeah, for me it's still just sticks. I don't argue the fact that he couldn't counter it, but the fact that that's hella underwhelming death, especially visually. For him to try to use his body to defend others was underwhelming and kinda too staged for my liking with sheer amount of techniques and skills ninja usually have, that could have been used in that time. He is a damn Jounin and they all are on such level. Obito clearly wanted to go for some mind-trauma for Naruto, but I would rather see him actually unlive Neji by his own hands. I do have also major problem with how anime showed it (I mean manga as well). When you die from something that looks like its easily dodgeable - you have to build up to it in a better way. My immersion was broken after the whole area still looked like empty wasteland and not a spike forest. Also, I'm sorry - if his impenetrable defence and palm techniques are not enough, how tf his soft body is gonna defend anyone? It should go through him and others, if we are gonna talk about scale. That's what I have issue with - the execution of whole death scene.
What a lame death for Neji ,killed by a wooden stick because he shipped Hinata with Naruto and it was pointless because Naruto with almost infinite chakra has super regeneration and is almost immortal so he would be fine. Kishimoto had to off someone in this battle otherwise it would have been too much like Fairy Tail. This isn't war ,it is one giant battle against two people and their Pokemon pet . If Madara killed all the Hokage then it would have been better, there would be more tension in every fight.

@Ruben Martinez In the japanese the flashback scene has Naruto calling Neji a genius. That scene was reworded to better match the lip flaps, which creates a disconnect throughout the series as they flash back to that multiple times with regards to Neji trying to live up to being called a genius by Naruto. I wasn´t watching the anime since the start of Hidan and Kakuzu´s arc, beacuse at that time I was a huge fan of the series (similar of how people read quickly the mangas of the popular series of the season right now) and I got tired of watching fillers. I followed week by week, getting exciting about what could happen in the story...however, when I get to this part, I was like: "Wait, was Neji still around here?" and really didn´t care about his sudden death. It was just so...random...he didn´t appear en major chapters or didn´t have a crucial participation at all since Gaara´s rescue arc. The only sad part for me was that such a cool character that was very well developed in the first part of Naruto got wasted just for two things: Emotional Impact and a NaruHina scene. There is also another meaning that I understood about his death, but talking about it right now is spoilerish, so maybe I will return at the end of the series to write it in the final discussion video. Maybe the anime can handle better this death with the emotional music, the animation, fillerish episodes and/or scenes where you can see Neji doing more and voice actor´s performance; however, for me, from a deeper perspective, it doesn't really have a deeper meaning than just saying "hey, important people are going to die here, it's the final battle, huh?".

Everyone talks about the death of neji however i'm getting more emotional after seeing shikamaru's and ino's reactions to their fathers deaths
forgot all that was in one episode, tbh not a fan of Neji's death writing-wise but I like how the aftermath was handled
Wtf, did you even get Madara's character.
Bro watched Naruto without using his brain💀
18:24 "he just serves it right back". made me remember that scene naruto launched himself toward madara with a bijuu bomb, and he just casually absorbs it with his gunbai or war fan and served it right back at him with a cheeky smile on his face
“Uchiha Reflection” 👹
7:52 carson was like yup it’s pain
I understand both obito and naruto's side.. its really reflecting one's experiences and personality against some scenarios like this.. its just that naruto's pride is annoying.. for obito his reasons are right but his answer his wrong.. i guess sometimes.. the typical us.. always acknowledging the right vs wrong without understanding the reason why it came up..
Yeah Naruto ego is kinda annoying doesn't care or even understand what obito said
And that could explain why Obito turned verbaly aggressive towards Naruto.
He kept spreading "I won't let my comrades die" stuff and Obito took it too personal cause from his perspective, Naruto was kidding him and he decided to shut his mouth with a cruel act that result on Neji's death.
@@runei2455 I mean obito is a villain and tried to kill him at birth but instead killed his parents lol I wouldn't either.

Too overproduced and kinda lame, for my liking. Cutting away the most useless and underdeveloped characters is not good. Neither it is emotional. It would make much more sense, if someone like Ino or actually Hinata died here. Calling it as AoT episode is disservice to AoT

Definitely.
Nejis death, the most forced death in Naruto ever
Cof cof....Deidara...Madara
You are the most sicck and toxiic.
Ik this episode is super sad but I just wanna say that Carson's hair style does in fact look like the bad guy from the 5th element lmao.

Carson always slamming back those redbulls lol be careful with those brudda
Did he watch boruto too? Cause he mentioned the fact that Ao "died".. Or maybe he didnt want to spoil lindsay
I believe it shown or probably it was a filler that most of the in Hidden Cloud village had been evacuated.
Whoever said anything about Obito, but his words are so true
Its coming……the biggest flex is coming….. and soo is God of Shinobi

imagine how many lives could have been saved. how fast would that war end. if only someone gave Lee a bit of sake.
lol lee would be killed
What a lame death for Neji ,killed by a wooden stick because he shipped Hinata with Naruto and it was pointless because Naruto with almost infinite chakra has super regeneration and is almost immortal so he would be fine. Kishimoto had to off someone in this battle otherwise it would have been too much like Fairy Tail. This isn't war ,it is one giant battle against two people and their Pokemon pet . If Madara killed all the Hokage then it would have been better, there would be more tension in every fight.
It's still better than dying by a smaller stick and turned to dust.
"You FUCKER!!!"" love that line
The way Lyndsay said "YOU FUCKER" when Obito was spitting facts, I was like "What??!! He's telling the truth".
Like Naruto said that and Obito repeated it to him.

Dub Fail
@Ruben Martinez In the japanese the flashback scene has Naruto calling Neji a genius. That scene was reworded to better match the lip flaps, which creates a disconnect throughout the series as they flash back to that multiple times with regards to Neji trying to live up to being called a genius by Naruto. The dub is more concerned with matching lip flaps then making an accurate translation.

I still can't ttell if hinata was slapping naruto or holding his cheek i mean....both?Hinata is always so gentle though..so i really gotta ask..what the hell was that?
8 15 kinda overshadowed neji death
