I was lucky to see and meet Blancmange at a concert in Leamington, England in 2014. Neil Arthur was nice enough to come out to meet me after the show when he heard that I flew in from Los Angeles just to see him and Heaven 17. 100% true story. It was a dream come true to see both bands perform.
That sounds awesome! Was he actually "so tall" though? He looks tall in that video, but maybe all the people around him were just short. Weird random question that occurred to me lol
Smaller venues are the best. Bands that aren't super-bands even better. I saw the Fixx a year ago and it was one of the best concerts I've seen and was only a good 20' away from the stage. One of my favorite bands. I heard this Blancmange song the other day which brought me here. Check out SomaFM Underground 80s
Blancmange were huge in the 80s in cities in the USA. New York, L.A., Boston, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, San Diego, San Francisco, Philly, and Chicago. Loved everything from the UK in the entire 80s decade. Small country with the most musically talented people on Earth along with NYC :)
I believe all those cities had independent progressive stations that had a pipeline directly coming from Great Britain. We in Southern California had 91X in San Diego, and right up the freeway in Los Angeles was the mighty KROQ. Both had their in-house English deejays also. San Diego had the great Steve West, and LA had Richard Blade. Oh what great times and great music. ... @@GGoAwayy Last time OMD were on tour they sold out my local venue (at the time - I've moved since) within about 18 hours. 1500 seat theatre in a crappy town that everyone loves to slag off. Other big acts like Texas, Status Quo, Travis, John Mayall, Mark Knopfler all came to town on other occasions. None of them got a full house. Even Jimmy Carr only managed about 80% or so.
@@mxbx307 I saw OMD a few years ago in Toronto when they opened for the B-52s. It was so weird because honestly, energy wise, OMD shouldve been the main act. They came out with so much energy and then the B-52s kind of seemed over it when they went on.

1st song i ever played on my sony walkman seems like yesterday.
This band did some great songs.
Exactly, my favourites are "Feel Me" "Kind" and "That's Love That It Is". They we're a great band.
Saw them as support to Howard Jones in Glasgow in 2023,, a bonus of a throwback to the 1980's. It was fresh then and is still today. Good stuff.
Saved to my 80's play list.

thats a good 80's list you might need to check out mate
Some tracks and videos are above the rest this is one of them definitely in the top 10. Just brilliant 👍
I think it’s one of the best intros to a tune.
Love it, love it, love it.........
So many memories!!!!! A fan since I was 13!
One of the best songs of the 80's, trust me, having over 1000 albums from the last 30 odd years up until now, you have tracks that still sound effing brilliant even tho' near on 40 years old!!!!! 👌👍👍👍👍👍
Just seen Blancmange supporting The Human League in Hull. Really small venue (basically a car park with a stage). But I have to say it's the best gig I've ever been to. And everyone in the crowd singing along to this song. Blancmange were fantastic 🙂👍
Some bands just stay good. OMD is another from that era that also still feel to me like theyre at the top of their game.
I’m up ‘t bloody tree
Love that bit
Locked in my world
I’m up t’ *BLUB BLUB* tree
@@loveandpeace9956 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@Rhigull: It was censored on TOTP to Cuckoo Tree.
Absolutely brilliant 😄

I still throw my 80s dancefloor shapes to this
Thank you limmy show for showing me this masterpiece
It lives in my heads attic rent free and occasional comes out when I've forget about it
⬆️🆎️🌴
Since 1982... I've listened to this song over 5000 times... likewise DM's get the balance right... fade to grey by visage... one small day by ultravox... kove like blood by killing joke... i will keep listening to them till i die...
Do you count every time you listen?
Ultravox is good too
What happy memories of college this brings back. 40 years ago today
Great 80’s song funny enough not many of my friends remember this song crazy 🎉
It's amazing to remember hearing this as a teenager in the States. Never knew what they looked like back then. Fell in love with them solely through their music. Not just Blancmange but the same with many others. The music itself just took me places. ❤
I heard this music as Iwas 16, today iam 57 and I still ❤❤❤ it
One of the all-time great songs. No question!

The 80s were the UK's last hurrah. Sad to see it now.
This is one of a handful of songs that I remember exactly where I was when I first heard it!
Love
