- In the 15th Century, Leon Battista Alberti said "A man can do all things if he will". And thus the idea of The Renaissance Man (or Universal Man, or polymath) was born. But how to be a good one? And is it still possible to be one today? We take a look at The Book of the Courtier by Castiglione and see what advice he can offer us.

i'm rennaisance in that i do lots of things but all of them pretty poorly. but y'all are specialists! keep it up, i love it!
*GASP* Was Matthew dissing the Comfort Narwhal hoodie?!?!?!?!
he knows not what he does
As regards being a renaissance man (I have been accused!) I’d say I was more like the line Ian Anderson quoted on the ‘Thick As A Brick’ sleeve artwork about being “geared towards the average rather than the exceptional”. I also I have no discernible musicality. I even manage to play the kazoo poorly.
Since you asked:
I have been learning some Italian with Duo Lingo and have learned that the `gli` in the middle of a word, like in Castiglione, is pronounced without the `g`. It is pronounced like `li` except with a little `y` as in the word `you`. So, something like Casti-liyon-e. I hope that makes sense.
it does make sense. Thank you!
Pretty proud to say I am no rennaisance man nor woman but I will call out men's unnecessary lewd comments and got good jokes. Fun podcast today!
Took the Ren-AAAY-sance test and scored a... well, it's in the negative, and I don't want to talk about it....
