  • With unprecedented access to Britain’s busiest legal aid practice, The Briefs takes us into the cut-throat world of criminal law. The Briefs follows the skilful lawyers of Tuckers in Manchester, as they look after their clients on cases ranging from blackmail to murder. The lawyers cover everything from taking on a case where a 63 year old woman is accused of drug dealing to a poet accused of benefit fraud. This is how justice really works.

@@tophatproductions3031 I have never understood why some people refuse to listen to their solicitors. I think it stems from the fact people just want to avoid any negative outcome at all costs when it's often better to perform damage mitigation instead of trying to get away scott free, even if it means prison.
It's much better to plea guilty for a guaranteed prison sentence of 12 months instead of a 95% chance of two years of more for a not guilty plea.

I was born in the UK but except for going back there for two years for college have lived in the U.S. since I was six. I have to say I'm amazed at how well these solicitors treat their clients. They come to your house?!? The public defenders here (public pretenders) barely give you the time of day most of the time you never even speak to them except on the day of court. UK public defenders make house calls?! Whoa.

It's how they make business. I've dealt with being in court on numerous occasions and have always stuck with the same law firm. The first time they dealt with me they stayed in contact frequently and done an incredible job of keeping me out of prison. You feel like you know some of them personally. They will speak to you on the phone, brief you before, and during court. Honestly they are great people and although it's their living, they take it above and beyond that.
