they made a behind the scenes video on this specific soundtrack! this song was based on the golden ratio and seeing their thought process behind it was amazing.
4:41 Sumeru is half rain forest half desert. At the beginning, the forest people worship the goddess of wisdom and forest/dendro (plant) whereas the desert people worship king deshret (the god of order and authority) and the goddess of flowers and dreams (according to some items in-game, they were described as couple but some said they were just really close friend, idk because some books and items in-game recorded fake history), but then king deshret and the goddess of flower deceased so some of the desert people start to worship the goddess of forest (the others called them betrayers although the three gods were friends)
Every time I think I'm caught up with your Hoyomix reactions, BAM. There's another one! It's definitely a good thing, especially since their music catalogue is so huge. This is definitely one of Genshin's more experimental tracks. It's a battle track from the Sumeru rainforest area, and it uses the Fibonacci sequence as its time signature. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fibonacci_sequence It's cool on multiple levels - not only does it make a very unique song, but the Fibonacci sequence is used to describe a lot of patterns that are found in nature (the element for Sumeru) and it was first discovered in India (the place Sumeru's rainforest is mostly based off of.) The only reason I know all of this is because Hoyo released a making-of video for the Sumeru music, btw.
As others have already said, the rhythm for this song is based on the fibonacchi sequence; there's a video of a behind the scenes where the composer, Yu-Peng Chen, explained some of his thought process, plus another video put together by Abyss Breakdown that actually displays the concept visually as well. I'd check both out when you have a bit of free time! Sumeru does indeed have a desert area, about half of it is desert and the other half is rainforest like in the album art. The tree there is part of the main city, in fact. In my opinion, Gilded Runner is a perfect demonstration of Yu-Peng Chen's creativity and technical prowess. He left the hoyo-mix team to pursue his own creative efforts about a year ago, around the time Sumeru was finishing up and Fontaine was coming up, and has actually recently released an album called Fantasyland. I *highly* recommend giving it a listen, he's become one of my favourite all time composers.
One of my favourite battle tracks. Jolts in the Forest follows this one nicely, it's the theme for when you fight a giant plant chicken. If you want a desert theme Across Dimming Asterisms is a good pick.
This one plays in the rainforest area as u can hear indian instruments (like bansuri, sitar, tanpura) with Arab Oud , classical guitar Now u should next listen to Accross Dimming Asterisms(epic) with middle eastern instrument 4:35 Sitar(indian instrument) Maybe u should listen to some Indian music so u will realise the difference
I have a suggestion from an anime that you may really like. I have no idea if you have watched Made in Abyss or not, but I feel like I have to suggest something from that masterpiece of a soundtrack since at least one track from Made in Abyss ends up in every playlist I make. The track I will put forward from this anime is called VOH, featuring Tekashi Saito.

You are correct, that is Sumeru. It's split between a rainforest and a desert.
