I've only recently found out that on June 2023, one of the original devs for morrowind (Douglas Goodall) went back and added 30 or so quests to the game through a mod called AFFresh. I was pretty amazed that 21 years later one of the OG devs actually did that.
Oh wow, never would have known about that if I didn't randomly see your comment. I'll have to check that out. But yeah, I do kind of wonder how many of the Bethesda devs, if any, continue to play the FO/ES games they worked on years later, let alone mod them.
@@Loli-Knight Yea, kind of like how John Romero actually went back and made a new episode for the original Doom called sigil (and on december 2023, did a sequel to that for doom 2). Warms my heart to see that the OG devs still cared about their creations decades later. Tim Cain (one of the main devs for the original fallout 1 and 2 before bethesda bought the IP, as well as being responsible for arcanium and vampire the masquerade: bloodlines) does have a youtube channel where he talks about a lot of stuff related to the gaming industry.
So the reason the Dwemer are ash piles in Tribunal is because the whole reason the dwemer went missing after the battle of Red Mountain is due to Kagrenac messing with the Heart of Lorkhan, thus causing the dwemer to become the brass-skin of Numidium. A world destroying artificial god, due to Dwemer seeing the dream aka reality as a prison that didn't exist, that was gifted to Tiber Septim by Vivec after the signing of the Armistice. It was instrumental in Tiber finally conquering the Second Aldermi Dominion and was a major plot point of Daggerfall. The reason I feel the ash piles are still around in the ruins under Mournhold as opposed to why there are no piles throughout the ruins on Vvardenfell probably has to do with the ruins under Mournhold having been sealed and never actually had people going through it as opposed to Vvardenfell where many have been raided or disturbed throughout the ages, especially when Vvardenfell went from being a sealed off sacred land where only Tribunal approved people were allowed to explore it into being a new frontier when the Empire finally got the Tribunal to allow them to develop on it. I am being very honest when I say this is the SHORT version of the explanation for all of this all because ONE ruin in the game has ashpiles lmao
And to further how undisturbed these dwemer ruins were. Almalexia herself thought it was a myth until the attack. The Ash storm machine itself was a myth to her.

That final battle against Almalexia was the perfect culmination of stacking the “tactical nap” and “door spam” accidental gameplay mechanics that Josh is always going on about. Morrowind is broken, but in the best-designed way possible #itjustworks 🧐 EDIT: spelling is hard

Fun fact: you can learn Drain Skill and craft a spell to temporarily drain any of your own skills down to zero. Why would you want to do this? Trainers will charge you based on your skill level. If your skill is zero, your training is basically free. Once the spell wears off, you will retain the bonus from your training.
There was something about murdering a king, leaving the room, paying £80 and then coming straight back in and looting his corpse down to his bare ass while his guards stand around indifferently that made me laugh very, very hard.
I like that people started contemplating abuse of power and how a god could work. Also of interest was to hear the take on the lack of emotion being the difference between gods and demi-gods, because it showed how the thinking changed over time. That idea and its self-evidence is a modern thought that became convincing in areas with some kind of Enlightenment. Most of the time people did not distinguish sharply between gods and humans and also a lack of emotion was not required.
Door tactics reminded me of my first RPG experience. Fallout 2, Navarro, Enclave, tons of powerarmored soldiers and plasma turrets. Step on one of the elevators, ride up, start combat, shoot once, ride down, combat ends. Repeat until out of enclave soldiers. Same shenanigans quarter of a century ago. A bit easier to do in a turn based game, but it is funny how similar the experience and the solution was.
So, over the last week or so I have found myself humming the Morrowind theme from time to time but each time about halfway through it kept morphing into another theme song from a movie and I was wondering why. Then I tried listening to the Morrowind theme at 1.75 times speed and now I believe Hans Zimmer totally Palworlded the song!

If you resurrect the Imperfect during the fight with Almalexia, it will attack her as soon as her AOE damages it. There's something poetic about Sotha Sil's creation (effectively his child) avenging him against his betrayer. However, in my play-through she did follow me through both doors. I had quite a few mods going though, so one of them may have "fixed" her critical weakness to doors.

Josh keeps referring to Vvardenfell as the mainland, even moments after reading aloud another character telling him the Red Mountain is on *the island* of Vvardenfell, not "here" on the mainland (where he and that character are) Josh realising Almalexia wants to take credit for Dwemer creations. I mean, that's what all three of them have been doing the entire time, so why stop now? All three are massive PoS's
