Appreciate the series on the Blackmax! Gramps has the exact same that has been sitting 10+ years and your videos helped build the confidence level to get a new project rolling 🎉
I linked and synced after I rebuilt the carbs off your other video.. Worked perfectly.. The only problem I have now is getting the timing advanced in the correct position when shifting either from forward or into reverse the motor just dies.. It will start and idle perfectly but as soon as I push or pull into gear it stalls out.. Do you know how to set the timing advance to accelerate while shifting gears.. I may have the cam not set correctly on the carburetors.. Mine is a 1988 black max 150hp..
I have a vintage 70's Merc Thunderbolt 50HP 2 stroke 4 cylinder that I rebuilt and got running, but it idles very high in neutral!. Anyone know what I need to adjust to get it to idle like this one does in neutral?. I was thinking it could maybe be the cable that comes from the Mercontrol/throttle and choke, and maybe I need to adjust one of the stop screws on the side?, and I know one does timing so I just need to know which one to adjust so I don't accidentally end up screwing up the timing!?. Any advice would be very much appreciated!. I want to go on the water, but I can't because I know if I put it in gear with it idling that high that it'll be bad news bear! lol
I jave an issue with my 175. I have took carbs apart. Adjusted the floats. Changed one of them. But i have to kep the throttle shifter forward so it will stay running. If i pull it back too far or in the actual nutrual position it will stall out. Almost sounds like it wants to back fire. But it stalls and pushes gas out if the overflow tube. If thats what the tube is. Too much gas? Or not butning it off. It does idle good and sound good idled up. It eill take the fas then. Do you have a video that will help me??
If your carburetor is overflowing when idling , I recommend rechecking the float adjustment. Also check your fuel lines to make sure that you don’t have a leak.
@ProWrenching quick questjon how do you test the enricher valve? I've also disconnected mine and can't remember how it goes back on I assume the black is ground to the block and black/yellow is power.
@@shitboxoffroad you should hear a click noise when you push in the key/choke on the throttle. When the key is pushed in, it applies voltage to the yellow and black wire, and the enrichener valve should click and open, allowing fuel to pass thru the valve. Yes, black is ground, black/yellow is power.

Sounds like a great project- would love to see a "will it start?" video on that one!
Super helpful thank you

Adjust the idle up so the RPM's are 750, while in gear.
Thank you for this video. Is that red annodized part in the fuel system a check valve?
It’s an add on fuel filter, installed by the previous owner.
Youre a pro!
Dumb question but turning in, "tightening" the screw turns up the idle correct?

by adjusting the idle timing screw does that in turn change the wot timing?
No- it does not.

Hey can you do a video of the fuel line routing? Im getting my 135 all back together but cant figure out where the enrichener lines go.
