There's another Pro 16 video on TH-cam where the guy "goes off" about the same tower-issue you mentioned. I've seriously been thinking of buying this system, but this makes me want to wait for the next generation. Bose is catching a lot of crap (and they should) about this obviously sloppy engineering.
Yep! Crazy right! They’ve been so good and then to release this is just so crazy to me. Hopefully the next gen will fix all of these issues and go back to what they used to be about
I'm a working pro musician. I've gigged with my Pro16 literally hundreds of times and have never had a problem with it. I used the Bose legacy gear for many years before the L1 Pro series came along. Never had one single problem with any of it.
Purchased two BOSE L1 Pro 16 units. The instructions state it must be updated before it is used. Why it doesn't come updated from the factory is beyond me. The first one updated just fine. The second unit failed to connect. Hours upon hours of trouble shooting, I called BOSE support and they advised me to take it back. Took it back to Guitar Center and came home with a replacement. BOOM! Nothing. Same issue as the last one. Called BOSE support again and they said they would get back to me "within a few days." Took that one back today and received yet a third replacement. This one also fails to update but on top of that, the lighting on the mixer is sketchy and appears to have got past QA. When I return this one, it will be my 4th unit. I am 1/2 tempted to just return both and be done with it. When you shell out this kind of coin for an item, it should work right out the box, no questions asked. What a disappointment.

I was hoping that by now Bose would see all the problems that people are complaining about and fix them but from your comment, it looks like even more problems with this L1 pro line. I would take it back and look into the jbl prx one systems. They seem to be top notch. I’m planning a review soon

For a long time now, companies have the public do their quality control....sounds bad but it is true. My P16 is rock solid, the build is great, they had to go with lighter parts for mobility...its called progress. I am not associated with Bose, just a life long customer.
Super glad I watched this. Long time Bose L1 Model 2 user here and was going to upgrade until I saw your review. Thanks! Side note: I upgraded to a Tonematch T8S from two Tonematch T1's. The effects engine on the T8S can't touch my old T1's. Also very disappointing.
@@musicandgearreviews Good question. Regarding the TS8, it was marketed as an "upgrade." In my mind, that would imply improved features but not necessarily a complete overhaul of the effects engine (which they did). Many of us who purchased the original T1 Tonematch did so because we loved the simple "out-of-the-box," plug-and-play, presets and tones. You can imagine my surprise when I unboxed the T8S and "copied" the settings from my T1 (their functionality is virtually identical) only to discover the exact settings sounded completely different. It's horrible. It would probably serve Bose well to reach out to some of their users before they make "updates." Just saying.

In closing, I wanted an updated system so I sold my L1 Model II. Bose, advertised the new systems are "here" in the trade magazines:. Yeah, well just not in the USA. As of this date the Pro32 has still not arrived at my local Guitar Center. In my personal opinion Bose, needs to reach out to some of the folks that are disappointed with their marketing approach and why there are so many concerns about the build quality. Bose, should reconsider the product line NOW and take steps to hear what a few of their customers are saying because they dropped the ball of this product line. The build quality does not work for me, it is a big disappointment.

I'd be pissed just like you. I'm a working pro musician and have 2 Bose L1 compact speakers that I use as a PA with my Tonematch T4s mixer and they work great. I hope Bose fixes this problem in the future as I have been thinking of upgrading my current system.
Having not seen any of these videos, I recently retired my L1 Model II after literally over 1000 shows over the last decade. I THIS close to buying the Pro16. My thought was that at most of my gigs, my old Bose tower was overkill anyway. Then, because I ALWAYS spend beyond my means when I can, I just said f-it and got the Pro32. In this instance I think my YOLO impulse-buying style worked in my favor. That wobbly connection would probably fail within 6 months. PS - the Pro32/Sub1 ($2700) totally kicks ass. Sub1 is MORE than enough.
Awesome! I’ve been hearing the 32 is amazing too. Thx for the contribution to the channel. I love Bose speakers and was highly dissatisfied with the 16. Glad to hear they stepped up with the 32
I haven’t ever owned either. But, I’ve talked with a few people that say the compact is better than the L1 Pro 8 because of solid build and high pitched hiss. I would suggest going to your local store and trying out some of the line array systems out there. Have you ever tried the EV systems before?
@@chamndivan88 oh nice! Someone said the EV 50 blows away the Bose systems. I can’t attest to that though I’ve never compared them side by side. I know that the old tried and true L1 Model ll systems are absolutely amazing and there are a lot of sales going on now because their pushing the new systems so hard. Have you ever tried those systems?
All line arrays speakers wobble,JBL, Yamaha, Mauie etc. also some people have hyperventilated over the wobble, in no way is there an issue. Sure if you want to swing in it, we’ll it ain’t a trapeze, it just sits there in the corner doing it thing and sounding great.

I feel you. My guitar player has the L1 model ll and it’s amazing. That was the reason I wanted this new pro system. I’m still hopeful Bose will change with the 2nd batch and fix all these problems.
The Model II is amazing, I was hoping the Pro16 would offer the same coverage at a lighter weight. I'm a drummer and have an outdated TH-cam channel that was entirely devoted to my love of the L1 systems. They changed my life, and gave me another 15 years of music that I would not have had, as the music was too loud, and the gear too heavy. After buying my first L1, I sold my entire JBL/EV PA system, without an ounce of regret. The new Bose "Pro" division takeover of the roots L1 group was a huge change in direction. Still I had high hopes, and still do. But I'm not buying just yet. Thank for the eye opener.

Disappointing for sure. I was intrigued by the upgraded pro line. The addition of onboard reverb has been overdue since day one. The absence of a master volume has always puzzled me too. A long wait for an upgrade from Bose for many fans, and it wobbles. Wow. Hopefully they’ll correct the issue. I’ll happily continue using the Fishman SA330x.
Long story short- Bose went from a very robust system the L1M2 which had heavy duty metal connections. To save weight and $$$$$ they went to all plastic and raised the price!
Hey brotha what's the latest replacement? Hopefully this company will take your review serious and fix that issue. But you are correct sir, $1800 should not have this issue.
Hey bro! I haven’t found a solid replacement. I have tried a few out that had way better build quality but the sound was lacking for me personally. Let me know if you find something and I’ll do the same💯

Mate that’s crap . I’ve seen a few Pro 16 reviews and no one else has mentioned that . I wonder if it’s just that one unit ? I’m about to order one myself so hoping this isn’t a standard thing ! The old Model 2 L1 is tough and sturdy as. Rock solid unit.
I hope so too but when I explained this to Sweetwater, they didn’t offer a replacement, they just said “send it back”. Also, that’s just the 1st problem I had. I’m uploading a new video of a demo soon. Stay tuned
I am a Huge user of Bose Products. I am a DJ and I use the Bose L1ll, L1S and S1 Pro, B1 and B2 Subs and Tone Match 4, depending on the gig. I have never been disappointed with performance nor quality of the equipment. I was never impressed with the Compact series. I felt they were over-priced for my needs as a DJ and that the S1 Pro was a better buy as a satellite speaker. However, I must say that I too find the plastic part of the line array extension disappointing.
@@johnathanshuey7776 idk man. I was so excited for it to come. I went to guitar center today to try out another one but they didn’t even have one set up. I’m a huge Bose fan so I was hoping it was just that unit. I still don’t know though. I tried out the EV line array system and another system that was made by guitar center but both were not what I was looking for. The Bose L1 Pro 16 sounded amazing but it has its issues. I’ll be posting Part 2 soon and you’ll see some of the other problems I ran into.

I will go with hk audio polar 12,i have an hk audio lucas smart back from 2003 and it is still sounds incredible it is very small but for party's in houses was awesome I just need more power, check the hk audio you might be surprised and in Europe it's abou 820 euros I think that's 995 dollars!!!!!!
This is REALLY disappointing, especially since there are a ton of reviews from musicians and also written reviews from the online music mags that give it five stars and don't mention this problem at all. I don't understand why Bose or your supplier haven't responded. Given how well they've designed everything else it's hard to believe they could have messed up so badly on something so basic.

I wanted more than anything to just find out that I got a lemon but from what I’m hearing from everybody else is the same problems I had. No, I haven’t been contacted by Bose. Sweetwater just accepted the return with no offer of exchange which made me assume I wasn’t the first to complain about these issues

so I read the title and immediately I think... "this is going to be someone who is just too particular. Too nitpicky on the sound. Going to complain about something in the audio that I wont hear". They I see your video, and yeah.. that speaker column connection is weak. Literally and figuratively. Eventually at a gig someone is going to put just a little too much pressure on that column and its going to snap. I bet bose reaches out to you.. I see another earlier reviewer had bose reach out to them and clarify some things, and the reviewer re-uploaded. I am in the market for the 16 but waiting to see if others have the same issue.

My guitarist bought the Bose L1 Model 2 years ago and I was blown away by it and have always wanted one and when I found out the Pro systems were coming out, I was sold. But I don’t make the kind of money that I can spend $1,799 on a system and then it breaks within the 1st year. Like you said, just someone slightly leaning on it and it would snap. You have a bad unit....send it back. I have done lots of gigs with my P16 and its awesome. Every company has issues.....this is the first set of the new generation speakers. They are lighter and sound better than the L1 Type II series. They sound amazing the blue tooth is bullet proof and the mixer functionality works great. I have owned all previous Bose Pro systems...still have a couple....they all stay in my studio...the P16 is my workhorse now. Good luck everyone.
The sub is not on level ground and is it shaky deliberately compounding the situation.. Everyone is bent of shape when it's not really a problem. It's all in you mind. Just saying.
I don’t know about you guys, I’m not a big fan of the new L1 Pro 16. Not sturdy, cheap plastic materials. HORRIBLE QUALITY CONTROL! POOR ENGINEERING DESIGN! NOT WORTH FOR LONG TIME INVESTMENT! “WOBBLE” BIG TIME!!!

Yes we did - the sound is fab but it’s the one thing that worries the band . At least it can sit behind us so no one can knock into it !

Disappointing for sure. I was intrigued by the upgraded pro line. The addition of onboard reverb has been overdue since day one. The absence of a master volume has always puzzled me too. A long wait for an upgrade from Bose for many fans, and it wobbles. Wow. Hopefully they’ll correct the issue.
I’ll happily continue using the Fishman SA330x.

Long story short- Bose went from a very robust system the L1M2 which had heavy duty metal connections. To save weight and $$$$$ they went to all plastic and raised the price!

Hey bro! I haven’t found a solid replacement. I have tried a few out that had way better build quality but the sound was lacking for me personally. Let me know if you find something and I’ll do the same💯
@@musicandgearreviews have you tried the EV Evolve? If so, I’d love to hear your experience. Hoping to avoid the wobble, I tried the 30m. I loved everything about it except I could not get the vocal crispness that my L1 compact has. Ended up sending it back.

Mate that’s crap . I’ve seen a few Pro 16 reviews and no one else has mentioned that . I wonder if it’s just that one unit ? I’m about to order one myself so hoping this isn’t a standard thing ! The old Model 2 L1 is tough and sturdy as. Rock solid unit.
I hope so too but when I explained this to Sweetwater, they didn’t offer a replacement, they just said “send it back”. Also, that’s just the 1st problem I had. I’m uploading a new video of a demo soon. Stay tuned

I have the L1 Model 2 with B2 Sub and its so solid I even struggle to pull it apart and i paid £1499 in UK, this really looks disappointing

I am a Huge user of Bose Products. I am a DJ and I use the Bose L1ll, L1S and S1 Pro, B1 and B2 Subs and Tone Match 4, depending on the gig. I have never been disappointed with performance nor quality of the equipment. I was never impressed with the Compact series. I felt they were over-priced for my needs as a DJ and that the S1 Pro was a better buy as a satellite speaker. However, I must say that I too find the plastic part of the line array extension disappointing.

At $1800, I would expect a better fit and finish.
@@johnathanshuey7776 idk man. I was so excited for it to come. I went to guitar center today to try out another one but they didn’t even have one set up. I’m a huge Bose fan so I was hoping it was just that unit. I still don’t know though. I tried out the EV line array system and another system that was made by guitar center but both were not what I was looking for. The Bose L1 Pro 16 sounded amazing but it has its issues. I’ll be posting Part 2 soon and you’ll see some of the other problems I ran into.
I have the RCF JMIX8... looking to sell it to get the Bose for my keyboard 🎹 husband and wife singing duo... once we can gig again.

I will go with hk audio polar 12,i have an hk audio lucas smart back from 2003 and it is still sounds incredible it is very small but for party's in houses was awesome I just need more power, check the hk audio you might be surprised and in Europe it's abou 820 euros I think that's 995 dollars!!!!!!

This is REALLY disappointing, especially since there are a ton of reviews from musicians and also written reviews from the online music mags that give it five stars and don't mention this problem at all. I don't understand why Bose or your supplier haven't responded. Given how well they've designed everything else it's hard to believe they could have messed up so badly on something so basic.

I wanted more than anything to just find out that I got a lemon but from what I’m hearing from everybody else is the same problems I had. No, I haven’t been contacted by Bose. Sweetwater just accepted the return with no offer of exchange which made me assume I wasn’t the first to complain about these issues

so I read the title and immediately I think... "this is going to be someone who is just too particular. Too nitpicky on the sound. Going to complain about something in the audio that I wont hear". They I see your video, and yeah.. that speaker column connection is weak. Literally and figuratively. Eventually at a gig someone is going to put just a little too much pressure on that column and its going to snap. I bet bose reaches out to you.. I see another earlier reviewer had bose reach out to them and clarify some things, and the reviewer re-uploaded. I am in the market for the 16 but waiting to see if others have the same issue.

My guitarist bought the Bose L1 Model 2 years ago and I was blown away by it and have always wanted one and when I found out the Pro systems were coming out, I was sold. But I don’t make the kind of money that I can spend $1,799 on a system and then it breaks within the 1st year. Like you said, just someone slightly leaning on it and it would snap. I’m uploading part 2 demo and sound test tonight and you’ll hear the clarity of the unit. But... you’ll also hear another problem I had😢 thx again for watching and for your comment. You have a bad unit....send it back. I have done lots of gigs with my P16 and its awesome. Every company has issues.....this is the first set of the new generation speakers. They are lighter and sound better than the L1 Type II series. They sound amazing the blue tooth is bullet proof and the mixer functionality works great. I have owned all previous Bose Pro systems...still have a couple....they all stay in my studio...the P16 is my workhorse now. Good luck everyone.

I don’t know about you guys, I’m not a big fan of the new L1 Pro 16. Not sturdy, cheap plastic materials. HORRIBLE QUALITY CONTROL! POOR ENGINEERING DESIGN! NOT WORTH FOR LONG TIME INVESTMENT! “WOBBLE” BIG TIME!!!

@@brianreynolds188 My L1 Compact doesn’t wobble because the extender slides down a metal rail into the cabinet. I can’t imagine bose engineering not devising a more secure tower connect.
