    For anyone else watching this great video, once you have stripped the dashboard down you can pull out the left/ central blower vent as well as removing the glovebox. There is nothing securing it,( it just pulls out), and it gives a good bit more visibility when doing the rear cable removal and refixing. Trust me, you are going to want all the access you can get.

    This helped me immensely in changing mine yesterday. I was a bit worried when the new cable (I’d sourced cheaper from elsewhere) was longer than the original but seemed identical to yours. Better a longer Bowden cable than a shorter one. Did the trick now all working thanks.

    Just did mine this morning. Would have been a sinch if I had disconnected the correct cable at the far end under the dashboard. When I realised it was the wrong one and saw the correct one, I thought ,” oh,shit”. But it came apart quite easy and after getting an inspection mirror in to have a look, it went back together unusually easily. Pity I broke the clip on the cable I shouldnt have even removed but a couple of cable ties sorted that out. Glad its done and I have a blower that works. Now onto the next job that needs done on the van……

      Your welcome and glad it helped. It’s surprising how many VW’s suffer from this issue. Definitely a defective design.

    Hi Axisuk. Would you know what colour cable I need to order for a similar issue? My hot/ cold wont go cold. It gets stiff at the cold end turn and just stays warm. Any idea, or I’ll pull it out and check. Cheers

      Not sure off top of my head, but if its already buggered then just pull it out and check the colour.

    Thanks for uploading This may just be helpful with the T6 They have the same issue. Bloody VW knew about this years ago and did nothing.

      Yeah it’s ridiculous that this has been the same across two generations. Clear design issue.

    Can you explain how to relocate the ball end? I get how the clip clips in but where does the ball itself locate?

    • @AXISUK
      @AXISUK  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s hard to explain but if you feel the area the ball fits between to raised edges.

    Sorry to reserect a older video,but can you tell me,i have tge same problem with tge direction dial,it is stuck on windscreen and wont turn left.
    I have removed cable as it was a braded crap one, it dosent look to be snagged or bent,,so I need to know shoul i be able to turn tge dial when i have cable disconnected,,I assume i should and must have a probkem with the cogs or something,so probably looking at replacing the unit..
    Thanks

    • @AXISUK
      @AXISUK  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would have e thought If the cable was disconnected from the dial then it should be free to move. Check to see if anything has got jammed in the mechanism?

    • @vamboroolz1612
      @vamboroolz1612 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@davordolinsek1018 the cogs inside the unit have a tendency to lose some of the teeth making it slip. If this is the case,( you can check by dismantling like the video), then its a replacement unit. Think they are around £150 from vw so best to get a used one.

    Mate great video… do you know anything about mine….
    The issue is, the heat to cold and warm works fine. - the dial which moves from feet, to window vent, to face etc works….
    It’s just the speed knob which is faulty. Is there anything you can do with this one? The dial seems loose and isn’t turning! I can send a video to show you! Any help will stop me from going insane 😂😂 cheers mate!

    • @AXISUK
      @AXISUK  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      From memory I don’t think the middle dial has a cable, so could possibly be a faulty unit. Maybe try get one from a scrap yard?
