Hi here comes a tip for montage. Drill a bigger hole to the upper of the Square iron so your tool fit then screw it only in the bottom iron then you dont need so long screws. best regards from Robert in Sweden.
Hi. Did you read this comment? This is a fantastic comment I bet it's one of your favorites out of all the millions of comments you receive. Look at how much I've written in this comment without actually saying much of anything at all. That's really what makes it so good. If al'y'all're in fact reading it right now, hope you're laughing. Probably out of confusion. But that counts! Anyways just wanted to see that you weren't lying about reading every comment. You don't even have to reply but I guess that's the only way I'll know if you read it. Hope you enjoyed the read. The video was pretty great. I'm building a van into an RV right now so this is pretty tangentially relevant for me. V curious to see what you guys make.
OK, retired Building Contractor here! Always try to work plumb and level. If you don’t, it WILL come back to bite you. Plumb is the term used for level in the vertical. I recommend putting some rigid foam in the bathroom walls to help muffle any bathroom noises, if you get my drift. It’s o ing along nicely. Keep up the good work. You guys are fun to watch!
Regarding improvements, waterproof the bathroom. Waterproof the walls and floor so that if catastrophic spills happen its contained. And add a lip at the door to prevent runnaway messes too.
Anytime you tackle a project that you have never done it's a learning process. In my experience hands on is the best way to learn and the most satisfying when the job is done. I'm 70 and almost everything I know from baking to auto repair is hands on self taught. It's good to see you guys go for it without intimidation and get it done.
Thanks for the video. I'm a commercial general contractor. Watching car folks do construction is like me doing car stuff. Your doing fine. I would worry more about keeping things square to the floor or ceiling than level. Then it won't hurt your eyes to look at it no matter if the trailer is level or not.
I believe I installed that exact same shower kit. I’m glad you went and leveled it out because it was a pretty picky kit when I put it in my house. One thing I did was use “floor leveler” under that base so it doesn’t make styrofoam and creaking noises. It worked really good in my house. It helps make up for not perfect floors. Just slap a bunch down use a trowel with some groves and make a good layer for you to push the base down into the leveler.
I really like that kind of industrial look. My wife is not a fan of barn doors, but I really like them. I an excited to see this design idea come to fruition.
Yup, level with the frame is the best idea. If you clean out the nozzle of the welder and wire wheel the steel first, that should help with splatter etc. There's a lot more room in there that I was expecting.
I been binge watching all your stuff from Singapore having just stumbled across you. I’m loving this build. It’s going to be awesome. I’m so glad you are trusting your eyes for it being level. Making you walls at 90 degrees to your floor is always a safe bet. That’s what your eyes are seeing. It would be great if you talked a little more about the tools you are using along the way. I’m super interested in your TIG Welder.
I really like your teamwork. Y'all are blessed to have each other. We are blessed that you share your story. PS: Y'all continue to raise the bar telling that story.
Really digging this series. Been after my own race trailer living 1/4’s for a minute. This is something I could do myself instead of buying a pre built unit. Keep them coming. Thank you!
Aaron, you could use aluminium check plate for your sliding door, would look like a giant locker and keep with the theme. Wouldn't be over heavy either. Great progress.
Built a few Manufactured Homes and Houseboats- We always start with a frame and each ancillary item is bench/floor built outside to ensure plumb and square, then installed as a unit. Shimmed where needed. Think of each item as a cabinet to be installed. As mentioned in another comment the bath door needs a top and bottom rail (top is exposed-bottom is hidden between wall and door with one roller on inside lower corner. You two really -Live,Love and Wrench!!!! The Bronco needs to be the first trip in trailer.
Good job reasoning level and or plumb on the wall/window. I think you made the right decision. Emily has an uncanny way of think out potential problems, ie, shower drain, and I have noticed many others. You guys are good thinkers and planners. I love the finishes... God bless ya'll.
When you install that barn door, make sure you put some kind of limiting bracket at the bottom so that the door can't swing out away from the wall in transit. And as another poster already mentioned, make sure you have a way to lock the door open for transit. Loving this build!
I was going to say the same thing, You need to secure the door when going down the road because the bottom of the door is going to be flying in and out against the wall going down the road.
Just a suggestion, use a eye bolt and gate hook to latch to lock the door while you are moving down the highway. I have to say I love how you two “discuss” if things look level or not, and then go right into a dookie conversation. LOL. That’s love.
I love watching you guys. You’re not afraid to try and tackle any situation and you learn from mistakes. I feel like you’re related to me and I am very proud for y’all
The barn door style is a great idea. I would make the transit latch for the door in the open position. It's not in use while moving and it will help the door keep from twisting as it will be held firmly against the wall. Glad y'all are well. Much love and best wishes to you and all ❤️ Stay safe everyone ✌️😎
Love the dedication. When talking about vertical uprights the correct term is 'Plum' IE it is perfectly vertical when using a spirit level. The term Level means it is horizontal when using a spirit level.
It's always a joy to watch you guys work together. The fact that you two share so much like your racing and flying is a good example for a lot of other couples. 👍🙂
Barn doors are a great idea! One word of caution though. Sometimes there can be a gap between the door and the wall. Something to keep on mind for a bathroom, ya know for privacy, sounds, smells.lol. anyway love watching you guys
TH-cam suggested your 5k boat video after I watched a boatguy vid. I am glad they did because I am now subscribed and I will enjoy watching y'all convert this trailer into a camper. Cheers you two. keep up the good work!
I can see that you are both master craftspersons. Emily is a great narrator. Aaron is good at explaining what he is doing. I love watching this channel.
Consider making the sliding door slightly wider than 2ft, so you have an overlap when shut... Only saying this as you commented about the pole only needing to be 4ft. Enjoy watching all your videos and appreciate you taking the time to film and upload.
The panel door is a good idea. Suggestion: Get a spring pull to keep it shut. It is easier to prop it open than to lock it closed. A 1 inch spring inside of steel conduit allows for adjustment. If you have issues finding a spring, they have overhead garage door springs that are relatively easy to find and made to be adjustable on one end. Other suggestion: Carriage bolts when anchoring through wood trailer floors or put (PL) adhesive under the new metal.
I like the progress so far, it's coming along very nicely. One suggestion would be to install a vent fan on the exterior side wall for the bathroom and insulate the interior bathroom walls too. Then no one will hear anyone while they "look out the window and take a dookie". LOL. Also, "level" is the term for horizontal lines, "plumb" is the term used for vertical lines. Just sayin'
To help solve your screw lengths going through the box section, drill a clearance hole in the top surface that lets your screw and drive bit go through, then you only need short screw to go through one thickness of steel. Also use some “no nails” when fitting box section to floors, walls & ceilings, then the screws don’t take all the load, they can come loose when going over rough roads eventually. They won’t if there “glued” also. Hope that helps, your doing great guys 💪👍
I’m intimidated by the whole build. No way I would take on what y’all are doing. But, it’s fun to watch you guys build things. That’s why I subscribed to your Chanel.
Yall are freaking awesome!! I love the positive vibe of this channel. I know the cost of materials has went through the roof but yall are always smiling and finding solutions :) Much love from Memphis ;)
New to the channel how could anyone leave nasty comments cute, sweet and handy.. If you turn the toilet to the front wall or towards the bunk it would open up some more space and be better for cleaning.
You may want to add small brackets at the end of the door so it don’t come off track going down the road also it may help to cool the trailer if you put a mini split heat and ac in so you can have a cool place to retreat into
Be sure to have that bathroom sliding door lockable from the inside. And then able to unlock it from the outside in a subtle way of some kind. People do get into trouble in a bathroom and you want to be able to get in if there's an emergency. All the best from Canada
So awesome to see the progress! Good job ! Lately I'm so impressed with all those dyi guys who make table tops and doors from wood and fill it with coloured resin , that would be a realy nice door ! Have fun and stay safe !
Nice door idea. The idea I have seen is to use a heavy duty magnet to hold the door in both the open position and the closed position so as to insure if the trailer is unlevel the door doesn't accidentally close on someone. You could also ad a latch to lock the door while it is occupied.
I love this build. I also understand about nothing is square or level. I rebuilt a pop up camper a couple years ago. It turned out awesome and all worked out. Wait til you guys are done, all the hard work is worth it the first time you take it out.
O, yes barn door great Idea 💡Trailer remodeling is going great. So far you doing a great job. I think everything you talked about should work out fine. Have a great evening 👍
I’d be latching your barn door using magnets rather than latches. One to hold it open and one to hold it closed. You could have a locking latch inside if you want privacy 😜. Also, you could have drilled an access sized hole in one side of your square metal framing. That way your fastener would only need to be long enough to pass through one side of your framing tubes + the thickness of your floor or wall. Not the whole framing tube + floor or wall. Handy tip when you don’t have long bolts lying around. This project looks like it’s going to be an awesome success. Can’t wait for the next episode. 👍👍
Barn door- great idea...... Level- put back in garage and use squares, straight edges and measuring tapes so that your lines will look consistent. Looking good. :)
Loving this project. Another way to screw the square tubing down is to drill a large enough hole on the top side for your driver bit to pass thru, with the head of the fastener catching the bottom side of the square tubing. I don't know if it would be stronger or weaker, just a thought. Love the barn door idea! Pocket doors are cool too, but can be problematic and also makes it difficult to have a light switch or outlet in the wall
Like the barn door idea. Think it will rattle though. Still rubber stoppers on the floor would fix that. Another thing to take into account is condensation in the shower (with having metal framing?) might be a concern given time. Maybe a roof or extractor/vent like the ones they sell for R.V’s.
Given you won't be in the trailer when you're pulling it, I don't think it is an issue. All RVs rattle over the road anyway. A roof vent for the bathroom is a solid suggestion though. (FART FAN!)
The barn door is a cool idea. Only thing you may want to consider however is privacy. Usually barn door track mechanisms by design have a quite a substantial gap between the door and the wall. May be a challenge to accomplish privacy in a way a pocket door or a standard door within a door frame does. Good luck!
Construction suggestions: Secure the bottom of the barn door for highway use. Don't want that door flopping around while on the road!! Why not add your logo laser etched on the door?? That's look really cool when you invite guests inside!! Adding rigid internal structure inside the trailer may be a concern. I would assume the trailer is designed to flex so adding a rigid structure attached to the flexible structure will move or possibly force more flex to a localized section that can still flex. Probably not a big concern but I would minimize attaching rigid structure to the trailer side and roof beyond what you have in the gooseneck area. Creating rigid structures attached to the floor shouldn't be too much of a problem but you realize everything will be flexing when Roxy is loaded and going down the highway at 70MPH! Suggest checking in with a camping trailers dealer or toy hauler dealer to see if they have a framing expert on staff. Happy trails! Really love your channel! I also love boating, airplanes and fast cars!!
looking great emily maybe cut the ply wood to fit inside the steel frame to reduce the thickness of the wall then put the outer sheeting on so it doesn't look so chunky also gives you more space outside the bathroom for the kitchen area i would mount the hand basin on the wall infront of the toilet seems a better spot to put it and leaves the shower access clear
I think with that grinder and cutter..Finlay was asking for some ear defenders.. like how the build is coming on. pretty solid.. wont be much flexin about in transit. fun watch.. thanks you folks.
Most sliding doors don’t give you much privacy. Usually you can see inside around the edges. If your door is going to be this way to it would be awful for anyone having to poo and other people are in the kitchen area. If your door is different than what I was talking about then it might be ok. It’s just a weird place to put the bathroom at. Love the videos and great luck on the rebuild 👍🙏
Why is it there is so many keyboard carpenters/mechanic out there ready to criticize everyone’s work you guys are doing a awesome job don’t worry about the nay sayers this is your build have fun
You guys made my day! Thanks for the upload! That’s until I get home and work on my sons 80 firebird Esprit Aluminum LS swap project with him, his rims and tires finally showed up!
Hi here comes a tip for montage. Drill a bigger hole to the upper of the Square iron so your tool fit then screw it only in the bottom iron then you dont need so long screws. best regards from Robert in Sweden.
That’s what I thought about while seeing them struggle with it. It would actually be stronger if they did like you said. 👍🙏
We did end up doing that!
Put those outlets on a GFIC for the bathroom, or even the entire rig.
Hi. Did you read this comment? This is a fantastic comment I bet it's one of your favorites out of all the millions of comments you receive. You’re a funny one 😎
These two have more energy than Tesla they just keep plugging away very much admire these folks!
You’re too dang kind!!!!
@@flyingsparksgarage you folks are just amazing and fun to watch inspiring! Thanks!

My thought too, waterproof the heck out of the bathroom, or you may end up with waterlogged playwood and it'll rot eventually.
Anytime you tackle a project that you have never done it's a learning process. In my experience hands on is the best way to learn and the most satisfying when the job is done. I'm 70 and almost everything I know from baking to auto repair is hands on self taught. It's good to see you guys go for it without intimidation and get it done.
Aaron & Emily here is my comment for today. You guys are doing a wonderful job with your trailer and it will look fabulous when you are finished.
Thanks for the video. I'm a commercial general contractor. Watching car folks do construction is like me doing car stuff. Your doing fine. Aaron staring at the floor biting a hole in his tongue when Emily said "the squirrel dropped a nut on the roof" was priceless!
😂😂😂
I really like that kind of industrial look. My wife is not a fan of barn doors, but I really like them. I an excited to see this design idea come to fruition.
Keep checking the frame rails on the underside for level and leave access for plumbing everything . Love it
Yup, level with the frame is the best idea.

We’ll certainly try and talk more about our tools ☺️
I like it, looking good. Remember you can always use colored caulk to fill some gaps when you lay the stick on tiles.
Project is coming along nicely. Love how Emily`s face lit up when Aaron mentioned the tig welder. Stay safe, God Bless.
Some great ideas. I love the rollers for the door, they look awesome. Can't wait to see it hung.
I can't believe people would leave nasty comments. Always look forward to next video. It gives me ideas on projects I'm working on.
so glad YOUR STARTING TO USE MORE PERSONAL PROTECTION GEAR.
Aaroni is a master mechanic ,electricacn and plumer and agreat carpentur. YOU ARE lucky to have him. the trailer is looking great.
I really like your teamwork. Y'all are blessed to have each other. We are blessed that you share your story. PS: Y'all continue to raise the bar telling that story.
Thank-you for thanking us. Glad to be along for the ride. And Finley.
First off, I love you two and this channel. The barn door with the metal would be so awesome. Can’t wait to see the finished trailer.
You all are an awesome couple. It doesn’t matter what it looks like when you build it together the way you both want it!! Keep up the great content!
Really digging this series. Been after my own race trailer living 1/4’s for a minute. This is something I could do myself instead of buying a pre built unit. Keep them coming. Thank you!

Keep walls level. If window looks wonkie, hang a curtain over it. Love the project! Keep the vids coming.
Good call on making it all "bubble" level...I've done several trailer remodels and that's the best way to do it! Good job guys!!!
Good job reasoning level and or plumb on the wall/window. I think you made the right decision. Emily has an uncanny way of think out potential problems, ie, shower drain, and I have noticed many others. You guys are good thinkers and planners. I love the finishes... God bless ya'll.

Stay safe everyone ✌️😎
Make that a strong latch or you’ll have Flying Doors 😜
That little dog is absolutely adorable
Trailer is really coming along and your welds are looking good, nice job you guys 👍😁❤️
It is looking good!! Just remember the weight addition. Also, Barn Door for bath...GREAT IDEA!

Always level to your eye , thats what you see! Nobody is going to check the bubble. Good job guys , love ya!
Barn doors are a great idea! One word of caution though. Sometimes there can be a gap between the door and the wall. Something to keep on mind for a bathroom, ya know for privacy, sounds, smells.lol. anyway love watching you guys
The "barn door" sounds good. Just make sure you can keep it from swinging side-to-side when it's closed. And when you're towing the trailer.
TH-cam suggested your 5k boat video after I watched a boatguy vid. I am glad they did because I am now subscribed and I will enjoy watching y'all convert this trailer into a camper. Cheers you two. keep up the good work!

Your project is coming along great, I love the barn door idea - Best of luck
Lookin' good! - That's going to be so much better than the other trailers at the track.
Pretty cool progress, you guys have some great ideas... there are so many variables that come into play when leveling a trailer.
Terri and I absolutely love the way y'all work together and love the look of the trailer so far! keep up the great work!
I’m intimidated by the whole build. No way I would take on what y’all are doing. But, it’s fun to watch you guys build things. That’s why I subscribed to your Chanel.
I'm thoroughly enjoying this series. Y'all work so well together. Such cool details. You make hard work look fun!
Make sure you design a latch for the bottom of the barn door slider so it doesn’t slap the walls when in transit. Can’t wait for the next episode
I was thinking the same thing.
Yall are freaking awesome!! I love the positive vibe of this channel. I know the cost of materials has went through the roof but yall are always smiling and finding solutions :) Much love from Memphis ;)
Barn Door, absolutely you'll have something that nobody else has. Go guys go.
Hey Emily, you can add toilet model to your resume! Nice job welding BTW also. Looking good! Can't wait to see the finished product.
Love watching you guys sort this build out together. Going to be an awesome trailer when you’re done.
The barn door sounds great!
You will need to secure it for travel as Aaron already mentioned.
New to the channel how could anyone leave nasty comments cute, sweet and handy.. If you turn the toilet to the front wall or towards the bunk it would open up some more space and be better for cleaning.

Barn Door in a trailer you'll be the first to do that can't wait to see how it looks
Billet aluminum looking rollers,no less! Look really cool
A L W A Y S start with leveling the trailer or frame or anything you are working on.. LEVEL- LEVEL - LEVEL.........
Loving this build so much I let 2 3 minute plus commercials run to help pay for the plywood!!
Nice door idea. The idea I have seen is to use a heavy duty magnet to hold the door in both the open position and the closed position so as to insure if the trailer is unlevel the door doesn't accidentally close on someone. You could also ad a latch to lock the door while it is occupied.
PS- - this is the most exciting and fun build on TH-cam right now. Give us more.
I love this build. I also understand about nothing is square or level. I rebuilt a pop up camper a couple years ago. It turned out awesome and all worked out. Wait til you guys are done, all the hard work is worth it the first time you take it out.
Putting a car hood on the bathroom door would be awesome looking!!! Love watching you guy's 💙
Kudos on the "hole-less britches". lol
Loving this project. You two are fun.
I like the barn door idea, don't forget to add some sort of latch on the bottom so it's not slapping around during transport.
Really enjoying this build. Makes me want to tackle something similar for myself. Keep up the awesome content.
You two are a joy to watch! 😊
I think you guys are doing a great job hang in there good to see Finley can't wait to see what's next.
I like the idea of the barn wood door. I think it would great.
Like the barn door idea. Think it will rattle though. Still rubber stoppers on the floor would fix that. Another thing to take into account is condensation in the shower (with having metal framing?) might be a concern given time. Maybe a roof or extractor/vent like the ones they sell for R.V’s.

Funny, Aaron says Tig welder and Emily's eye light up!
The barn door is a cool idea. Only thing you may want to consider however is privacy. Usually barn door track mechanisms by design have a quite a substantial gap between the door and the wall. May be a challenge to accomplish privacy in a way a pocket door or a standard door within a door frame does. Good luck!
I've watched a million trailer conversion videos and everyone has had the same problem with level and plum issues. Go slow and eye ball everything!!!
Construction suggestions: Secure the bottom of the barn door for highway use. Don't want that door flopping around while on the road!! Why not add your logo laser etched on the door?? That's look really cool when you invite guests inside!!
Adding rigid internal structure inside the trailer may be a concern. Suggest checking in with a camping trailers dealer or toy hauler dealer to see if they have a framing expert on staff.
Happy trails! Really love your channel! I also love boating, airplanes and fast cars!!
New Flying Sparks Garage Video! Clicks LIKE, and then watches the video!
I suggest including a barn door floor guide to help keep the bathroom door in place.
This has to be my favorite build on YT right now! Looking forward to seeing the progress and the finished trailer
I love the rollers AWESOME. The trailer is looking awesome. I have barn doors in every room love them
looking great emily maybe cut the ply wood to fit inside the steel frame to reduce the thickness of the wall then put the outer sheeting on so it doesn't look so chunky
also gives you more space outside the bathroom for the kitchen area
i would mount the hand basin on the wall infront of the toilet seems a better spot to put it and leaves the shower access clear
To use the smaller bolts, drill a bigger hole in the top of your box profile to fit the head of the bolt plus a socket wrench.
Why is it there is so many keyboard carpenters/mechanic out there ready to criticize everyone’s work you guys are doing a awesome job don’t worry about the nay sayers this is your build have fun
