- Today, I have the FiFine K678 USB Condenser Microphone in the Audio Hotline Studio! This is a relatively budget friendly USB mic. It isn't insanely cheap, but it is cheaper than the Blue Yeti (comparison in video, timestamps available below). I talk about the basics of this mic, I unbox it, I talk about the specs and I throughly test it out! I purchased this microphone after watching this review! I’m very satisfied with the quality of the microphone when considering its price. I’m also using AKG Lyra and I cannot feel the sound differences between the two when having conversations over the discord or Teams . Good product for the price!

“Fine Fine” is the way the company wants it pronounced, and they informed me on how to say it. My first couple reviews, I said it the way it seems like it should be said
(Fi Fine). Then I ended up talking to some of their reps and doing some voiceovers for them. That is what all of them have told me “Fain Fain”... I agree though, definitely a little weird 😂

I just ordered one because I have a blue yeti that I use daily for work from home stuff but it’s sooooo big and I wanted the same thing but smaller. it’s now $39 on Amazon at that price figured it was worth a shot. glad to see someone that knows their sh!t says it’s exactly what I wanted ! (small cost efficient version of the yeti)

hi, i bought this mic and i have a problem in static noise. even while monitoring and the mic is muted, when i turned the volume to 100, i will hear a loud white noise? is this normal? how can i fix it?

I have a question: I need to buy a new, longer cable for my Fifine K678, but I can't find any that have the small 'filters' on it, only regular micro usb cables used to charge phones. Do you think it'd make any difference in noise or something like that if I got one of them for my K678?

@@Iaru333 Because the K678 you got uses the older type of connector, not any micro-USB cable works for sure. Instead of replacing the cable, we would recommend using a powered USB hub to extend the cable length.

I have the same mic but it doesn't sound as good as yours. why?
It just feels distorted. I don't live in a room with fancy triangular walls and the room is pretty big

As always a great video! No interest in a usb mic but love your videos so I'll watch anyway. Plus you know mic nerd... haha As other comments have stated the raw audio from this fifine I think sounds like it has a much more balanced profile, the yeti sounds a bit more flat and hollow? Borderline tiny at times. EQ of course helps any mic so there's that. Would have been great if like you said they did their own design but oh well! haha

Hey, stupid question, but I tried looking it up on google and Reddit and couldnt'find anything, and seeing you're a specialist in audio equipment, you might know this.
I got the fifine k678 and a microphone boom arm, and it ended up that the fifine's cable is too short. I'm trying to find a longer cable, but usually can only find the ones that are used for charging phones, and I see that the microphone cable has these little "filters" on it.
Do you think that if I bought a 'normal' micro usb cable, would i notice any difference in noise, or anything like that? Thank you very much!

I love this K678 too, in Cambodia price is 75 $ .
After blowing thru 2 blue yetis I’m now on your page considering the fifine . The blue yeti has failed me both times when re ordered and after asking my husband to take it apart and fix the usb which was super wobbly (even though I only used handful of times) he showed me that nothing is hold that USB port together. I’m searching TH-cam trying to see if the fifine is also poorly manufactured. I hope not I like the sound a lot and will give it a go, wondering if anyone else has had similar issues

The pop filter is not quite necessary, cuz you can achieve the same effect by turning the mic around 10-20 degrees off-axis so that the air will not blow straight into the mic. But your talking range is slightly further than we recommend, it's better to be around 5 inches for the best sound quality.

I would also really like to hear your thoughts on fifine k683A vs k678. I’m wondering if there is a big difference for microphones that has headphone control (K678) vs microphones that has none (k683A)
K683A has monitoring jack with no headphone control
100% Mic Monitoring helps you easily identify whether you are speaking lond enough or not. It's more of a feature for streaming. Because the game sound is always overwhelming, when the monitoring volume isn't in full level, you're quite unlikely to hear how you exactly sound in the game end. If you want the low-latency monitoring feature for recording, then the model with a headphone control is a better choice. You can make the monitoring sound less overwhelming to have a comfortable playthrough or turn up the level to hear more details.
But we recommend using the microphone only with Windows and Mac computers. If you want to use it with a smartphone and tablet for recording, you will need a suitable USB adapter. But you can only hear playback after you unplug the mic. So even if your iPad has a headphone jack, the mic and headphone will still not work at the same time.
